Notes / Commercial Description:
Petrus Aged Pale is a 100% beer from our foeders. Michael Jackson, the beer hunter, chose the name in the late 1990s – and he was the first to sell this beer in his beer clubs. Today, it is still the reference for sour beers in the US. Petrus Aged Pale has won multiple gold medals in beer competitions worldwide. Moreover, ever since the start of the brewery, the beer has been used as a blending-beer with other beers to give them fresh, slightly sour flavors and aromas.

Aged in Oak foeders for over 24 months

Poured into a tulip

A- pours like champagne; crystal clear golden in color with lovely bubbles shooting up the glass, small sudsy white head that retains long after the pour and sticks to the sides

S- tart fruity notes of apple peel, pear and white grape skin, maybe even some cherry. Sour vinegar and grainy, oaky barrel notes

T- puckering tartness up front gives way to some light and fruity flavors of apple and pear that continues into a juicy middle, highlighted by the oak barrel, which adds some woodsy and earthy flavors, the finish is bone dry and tart, with lingers of grape skin that becomes more apparent as it warms

M- Medium body with spritzy champagne-like carbonation, foamy mouthfeel with a dry and puckering finish

O- a puckering sipper that has some nice fruity flavors, complimented by some nice barrel notes. My favorite from Petrus

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with heavy amounts of active visible carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass and some faint orange highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy white head that slowly reduces to a large finger thick cap in the center of the glass surrounded by a very thick film and a very thick ring. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of oak and light fruits (white grape, apple, and pear) with moderate to strong amounts of tartness.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate amount of oak and pale malts which quickly becomes quite tart. There are moderate notes of light fruits (white grape, apple, and pear) along with some notes of vinegar.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Moderate amounts of acidic prickliness. Dry finish.

O: Very enjoyable but probably too sour to enjoy more than one of these in a session. Nice flavors and acidic prickliness.

The beer comes in a golden color.

The aroma has tartness, lemons some funkiness and barnyard, oak.

The flavor follows with a refreshing lemony tartness, green apples, grapes, with an oak flavor. Quite a lot of tartness going, a light body.

A surprisingly incredible beer.

bottle to snifter

A. watered down orange, no head. mild fizzing on the top in the middle that stays.

S. Tart/Sour , sour apple. lemon.

T. Tart, to sour green apple, almost grassy at times, finishes bitter and dry.

M. Highly carbonated , yet smooth in the mouth and goes down even smoother with a dry finish, Great.

O. A great sour. Easy to come by, the apple taste overall not as great as the wine barrel aged sours but good. Price, availability makes it a winner.
