Notes / Commercial Description:
Petrus Aged Pale is a 100% beer from our foeders. Michael Jackson, the beer hunter, chose the name in the late 1990s – and he was the first to sell this beer in his beer clubs. Today, it is still the reference for sour beers in the US. Petrus Aged Pale has won multiple gold medals in beer competitions worldwide. Moreover, ever since the start of the brewery, the beer has been used as a blending-beer with other beers to give them fresh, slightly sour flavors and aromas.

Aged in Oak foeders for over 24 months

Tasted On: 05-21-2014
Freshness: Not indicated
Packaging: 750ml brown bottle, corked and caged, with foil
Glassware: Tulip
Purchased: Single from Let's Pour mailorder

Appearance: Clear beer with a golden color. The head is white and has a fair amount of retention but little in the way of lace.

Smell: Lemons and limes come to mind as you get a whiff of sourness. Other aromas are of wood and peppery spices.

Taste: Very tart which is expected from the aromas. Woody, and extremely dry with a bit of saltiness. Lots of fruitiness — green apple comes to mind. Flavors and acidity have a white wine-like character.

Mouthfeel: Carbonation is very high, like in a champagne. Body is light and refreshing. Finishes with a mouth-puckering sourness; quite dry.

Overall: Very dry and sour beer that may reind you more of a wine than a beer. I think it comes together well and would recommend it.
