[Suggested Glassware: Tulip Glass]

The pour was a murky medium dark brown with an average (1-2 finger) creamy light brown head that diminished at a nice slow pace, down to a thick puddled film with a large collar thus producing excellent thick sheeting of lacing.

The aroma was of a dark sweet malt and an funky earthy Belgian yeast with notes of brown sugar, dark fruit (cherries, plums and grapes), a mild vinous scent, a touch of oak cask and a definite tartness.

The taste was lightly sweet and acidic with a bit of brown sugar in the beginning, but quickly became somewhat sour and acetic with a very strong fruity vinous presence and a bold woody flavor towards the finish. The flavor hung around for an average time following the swallow, with the tart woody winey taste fading slowly from the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was a few strokes below medium in body and quite dry in texture with a lightly ticklish carbonation.

Overall this was a tasty and refreshing Oud Bruin, although I fell that a bit more sourness would have improved the flavor just a bit. But that’s just my opinion...
