Such a great, unassuming light beer. If you want a light, refreshing beer, with a minimal taste this is the beautiful Pilsener for your taste buds to enjoy. Reminds me of Whittkerke!

This is the only Light beer, I think I can drink. For a Pilsner, it's one of the few that I think travels from Europe, and tastes like your actually Drinking one in Czech. I can drink this from 9Am to 9Pm straight and have zero hangover. A masterpiece in light beer.

Apperance: Exceptional because of it's color, plae with a greenish Hue, the true colors of a PIls
Smell: Slight malty smell
Taste: Excellent and refreshing, lots of Honey noted
Mouthfeel: Perfect Carbonation
Drinkability: See above (all day long, baby)
Belch: Non existent it seems

Bavik has a medium-to-thick, soapy, white head, and hazy golden appearance, some lacing left on the glass, and an enormous amount of bubbles. When I swished the bottom 20% of the bottle, a cloud was seen descending in the glass and lots of little brown specs were visible in the beer. The aroma is of sweet, full, lightly-roasted barley malt, white bread, and a slight hop zing. Taste is of the same elements, with a wonderful, somewhat piney (if you can believe it) hop bitterness showing up mid-sip. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Bavik finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and wonderful. Each sip gets better, and I recommend, in the strongest way, trying this delightful beer!

This is my first review.

I was compelled to review Bavik. I discovered it by accident at Trader Joe's. There was a single bottle floating about so I thought what the heck.

This beer goes down very easy and tastes great. Has a lovely feel to it.

Certainly a step or two above the macro euro lagers.

Straw color with a light haze, a nice full white head, very active carbonation, and some lace. Nice grainy aroma with some earthy hop notes. Grain flavors dominate with a nice earthy hop balance. Light-medium bodied and smooth with a dry earthy hop finish.

A solid refreshing Belgian pils and certainly better than Stella from memory but I would like to taste them side by side...

This beer pours a healthy white head that slowly fades to an island of foam. A respectable lace clings and stays. Macro yellow in color with a greenish haze. The smell is pretty clean except for a faint belgian mustiness, which i really liked. Taste is more of the same fairly clean, crisp and really easy to quaff. All in all bavik is a great beer, even if it isn't quite true to style.

Served in a Bavik pilsner glass.
A very light golden coloured beer with a rustic bubble.
Nice white head with round shaped lacing on the glass. Fresh and creamy on top.
The scent is German hop and oxidised.
Soft and satisfying taste, very refreshing. This is how I like my pilsner. Dry, hopped, bitter and not sweetened. Well hopped with a nice bitterness. Fresh grain after a rain storm, the sun brakes through. Malt after tones.
The mouthfeel is semi-dry. Medium thickness, a bit creamy.
Aftertaste is bitter dry, a bit sticky. Lingers on.

Great Pilsner.

Overall, I have had this beer on tap once before, and kind of liked the on tap version a little better, but that was a long time ago. This happens to be my favorite tapwerks (local pub) beer on tap. Overall the bottle seemed to be good to the taste, also had the white beer as well.

Bavik Pils / Lager brewed by De Brabandere, with an ABV of 5.20% This brew pours out a could amber color , with a nice white head. This is a unfiltered brew, you can not see though it. The smell is rich with grains and malts. There is also a nice sweetness in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste, it is nice with grains and malts. Bavik Pils / Lager has a nice balance to it , there is nothing overpowering about this brew. The mouthfeel is rich, smooth and bold. I like how smooth this brew is. This is a nice drinking brew. Overall I'm giving this brew a 4 out 5. De Brabandere did a nice job with this one. I would buy this again.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pilsener glass. Had a pale yellow color and a hazy consistency. There was a half inch of creamy, long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: A decent amount of hops in the aroma, with traces of citrus as well.

T: Tasted of light, bitter hops, a little lemon, and some malt in the finish. There's a slight grainy aspect as well. A typical German Pilsener flavor - very straightforward and easy to drink.

M: A decent amount of carbonation with a crisp, clean finish. Light-bodied.

O: Not exactly a groundbreaking beer, but pretty well done nonetheless.

Bavik Pils / Lager - De Brabandere. Poured from the 12 oz can into a weizen glass, this beer's head is 1/2 fingers thick with spottier lacing, and a pale golden body.

Smells like bright grains and bit of metallic off-ness.

I taste a bit of, dare i say, apple, along the malts mentioned above.

Mouthfeel of this brew is light and clean. This is a very nice, quenching lager.

Overall, I'll give Bavik Pils / Lager - De Brabandere a solid 4. 'm curious as to how this would be in a bottle, or even on tap. I may or may not pick this up again.

Aroma has a nice spicy-woody aspect to it, along with a slightly grainy note. Not very strong-smelling but probably appropriate for style. The flavor is clean, nicely bitter at the end, and dry, with a mild hop and malt flavor that is pleasant although a little underwhelming. The balance is good in this beer, its refreshing but beefy. Not my first choice but for the style I'd say its pretty good.

Appearance: Pale gold color with a foamy white head. Good carbonation and moderate lacing.

Smell: Slight hop aroma with an undertone of malt.

Taste: Great blend. The mild hop bite coupled with the slightly sweet and smooth malt backbone make this brew stand out.

Mouthfeel: Medium body. Very satisfying for a lager.

Drinkability: Great session brew. The flavor in this beer is superior to Stella Artois. Too bad it is not as widely available.

Poured a clear, golden color with less than a finger of white fluffy head, very little retention.

The scent was of bread and a little citrus.

The taste was full of bready malt, notes of citrus, some yeast notes, and a mild hop presence.

Light body, smooth and a little crisp, low to moderate carbonation.

This was a pretty good beer, relatively light and very easy to drink.

Straight from the bottle. Aroma is a nice grassy Pilsner smell. Taste follows nose very closely. IMO this is a great German Pilsner and I will be buying more. If you like pilsners, you'll like this one.

Pours golden with just a touch of haze and a nice healthy head.

A touch of skunk just for a bit at first in the smell which then smooths out smells a bit like clean straw.

Tastes like one of the better pilsners around if you ask me. Incredibly smooth going down.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, clean and fresh!

Drinkability: If I had to choose a pilsner, and I could choose anything, I would probably pick this one.

A well made German Pils. Poured out to a hazed light yellow color with a medium head of foam that dissipated rather fast. A good amount of lace was present, and streams of champagne-like bubbles surge toward the surface well after the initial pour. Aromas of light malt and hops, with some grain and sweet corn notes. Very fresh. Taste is light bodied and very quaffable; malt, corn, dry hops, subtle notes of hay and sweetness. Mouthfeel was slightly bubbly, but otherwise forgetable. Good drinkability. Very refreshing. Worth trying.

Pours a hazy light yellow color with a frothy one to one and a half finger head which gives way to some lacing. The aroma is of citrus and sweet malts. The taste has a nice sweet malt backbone with hints of breadiness and a slight hop bite to it as well. The mouthfeel is highly carbonated. Overall it is a very solid beer, it is an easy drink with a nice flavor to keep you wanting more.

11.2oz brown bottle from Ron's in Farmington. Pours a translucent light straw color with a good inch of white head that dissipates leaving a fair bit of lacing. Smells fruity with caramel malt, yeast, and hints of DMS. Tastes malty sweet with almost a citric or grape-like component, just the slightest hint of cooked vegetable with a fairly clean finish. Light mouthfeel with effervescent carbonation. Not as hoppy as I've come to expect from the style, but otherwise a decent easy-drinking pils that beats the heck out of most Euro-lagers IMO.

Golden brew with thin white head. Head dies down too quickly. A bit too still as well. The scent of sweat pale malt and noble musty hops. The taste follows similar lines. The flavors are crisp, clean and overall subtle. Only knock is that it is not quite rich or big enough to make me do back flips. However, this is the type of flavor, smoothness the American macros could only hop for.

looks like a whit in the glass...cloudy...not clean and clear...Nose has some noble hop qualities...grassy....taste is sweet..bready almost...the only thing pilsnerish is the hopping...very malty...body is medium..low carbonation which doesn't fit either....

With all that said I don't mind this beer at all...sure it's not a trademark pilsner but it is tasty and I like a sweeter flavor to a pilsner it tastes good out of a can...easy drinking...decent flavor....forget the fact it's from Belgium...there are many better from that country but for what this is it isn't bad at all...solid offering...I'd buy some of these for the golf course..let's call it a Belgium Lager though

Slightly hazy, yellowish gold with a firm, bright-white head that holds very well and leaves excellent lace. The aroma offers a full, grainy maltiness and an herbal hoppiness. The body is light-medium, and it has a very fine, restrained carbonation. Very smooth & creamy in the mouth. The flavor has, surprisingly, a light touch of Belgian "mustiness" which is not normally found in their pilseners. The malt is well balanced with bitterness & there's some lightly woody & herbal hop flavor. The hops are confusing - or is that interesting - to me. I can't identify any variety, or even a general characteristic, other than the "dried leaves" note it has - and maybe a little bit of light, dried pine. I wonder if they're using aged hops; and yet that doesn't seem the case either! Odd. The finish is semi-sweet / semi-dry with some nice bitterness but also a sticky maltiness, although there's also a gently lingering earthy & mineral quality that helps to dry it out. This one is a quagmire. It's not a very good example of a pilsener at all. And it doesn't have any stand out qualities. But it is interesting & memorable. If it was a touch drier it might be better - but then it would be like every other mediocre Belgian pilsener. I have to give it some credit for its uniqueness (although that's not reflected in the score). I certainly wouldn't buy a case of this, but I found it interesting enough to suggest trying one to see what it's like.
