I was surprised by this one! Picked it up years ago and decided to enjoy it tonight! Pleasing aromas of grain and fresh raspberries with flavor to follow suit. This one definitely does well with some age on it. Not sure how old my bottle is but it's best by date is 19-6-2019. Anyone have an idea when this was bottled?

Poured into tekus and shared. A semi-hazy, pinot noir pink with a thin white head that never fully dissipates and leaves some lace. Nice berry and oak aromas. A great balance of sour and sweet, with very nice barrell notes and not overly fruity. Mouthfeel is semi-dry and well carbed. Overall, a very solid sour framboise from TJ's and Petrus.

Pours a ruddy brown color. Clear with an effervescent stream of bubbles coursing upwards. Thick velvety off-white head dissipates somewhat but not completely. A nice thin layer of velvety foam is retained throughout drinking the beer. Some off-white lacing is left behind.

Smell has strong notes of raspberry, a touch of vinegar, some blue cheese like funk, bit of oak character comes through. Very nice sour aroma on this.

Taste follows the nose with lots of sour raspberries up front. Hints of a vinegary sour with some funky blue cheese and barnyard type stuff going on here. Definitely not subtle with the sour/tartness. Does have a solid malt backbone that provides some nice depth to this beer. Its a bit acidic, but honestly for someone who is very sensitive to the acidity in beers like this, its really not bad at all.

Feel is light but pretty tart - elicits an actual puckering sensation almost as soon as the beer hits the palate. Dry tart finish.

Overall an exceptionally well crafted sour from Petrus. Kind of cool that its so inexpensive and sold by TJ's. For fans of the style this is a must-try.

750ml bottle served in a snifter. 19-06-2019.

Pours a nice clear ruby with a moderately sized, very light, very fine head. Not much carbonation. Smell is tart and a little musty, lots of raspberry.

Taste is raspberry, moderate sweetness, moderate tartness. Nice, but not sophisticated.

Mouthfeel is very dry. Overall, this is a surprisingly good beer.

Attractive pink-tinged dark amber color with plenty of foam in (what else) the tall Petrus goblet. It's quite sharp in the nose with a distinct berry note. Some malty sweetness Ends with a seeds and stems astringency. Very spritzy which gives this a soda pop mouthfeel.

Raspberry flavor is the best feature. This is the classic Belgian-style sour that maintains a sweet malty undertone and stays away from the vinegar end of the spectrum. The raspberries seem to contribute a lot of the tartness. It's a very fruity acidi sensation. From the 750 ml bottle purchased at (where else) Trader Joe's on the West Coast.

Saw this on a Facebook post and had my wife pick it up the next day she went to Trader Joe’s. Kind of excited about Trader Joe’s and Petrus hooking up for a Sour Framboise. Drinking this with cautious optimism.

Poured a light-to-copper amber clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy khaki-white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent sporadic foamy lacing. Almost perfect layered foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled a pleasant mix of raspberry and oak, definitely more raspberry. Variations of raspberry included puree, jam and juice. Very sweet. Also getting hints of mixed berries (dark cherry, blackberry, etc.). (Smell - 4.25)

Taste followed the nose, getting that mix of raspberry and oak with raspberry coming out on top. More cherry here than the smell, but still raspberry overall. Sweet raspberry juice, mixed berries, white wine barrels, grape and hints of plum. Not as sweet as the nose. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long, sweet, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was really good. Not entirely surprised, but would have it again for sure. Even may have underrated it a tad. (Overall - 4.25)
