A - Poured out a dark burgundy color with a two-finger, tan head of bubbly foam. It left some thin trails of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled fruity and malty. Nothing too strong here. Not bad but not awesome.

T - It tasted spicy with some fruity notes - some cherry and apple flavors with a touch of plum. It had a sweet malty backbone.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a clean, dry finish.

O - This is a very nice Belgian seasonal ale. Another good Petrus label.

A- Pours a reddish brown color with a very thin off white head. Head has pretty solid retention and leaves a bit of layered lacing.

S- Smells a lot like GLBC Christmas Ale with a much stronger in your face type smell. Quite a bit of spice, cinnamon, gingerbread and nutmeg leading the way. A fair amount of yeast here too.

T- Very sweet almost too sweet. Taste has a strong brown sugar taste to it. All the spice is here too along with quite a bit of malts. Finishes with a good amount of yeast too.

M- Medium in body and carbonation.

O- An interesting twist here, but just a bit too sweet for my liking.

750mL bottle, with the date 10/08/13 on the bottom...best buy? Into a Duvel tulip. Bought on a whim, no idea it was even a BSDA.

A: Opens with a satisfying pop. A clear, almost ruby body with some carbonation sports an off-white, creamy head that settles down fairly quickly. Almost on the order of a doppelbock in appearance.

S: Bready and sweet, with Christmas spices. Cinnamon and clove, a bit of anise and orange. A nice malt body supports the whole thing. Pretty enticing, wintry indeed.

T: Just so-so in the taste. The malt on the nose doesn't quite follow through in the taste. The spices fare a little better--I can pick out the notes I smelled quite clearly. In fact, the spicing is pretty balanced and good, rather than cloying like some winter-themed beers can be. Just wish it had a bit more malt oomph--starts off alright, but peters out quickly.

M: The body is a bit thin, but otherwise it's alright. Coulda fooled me that this was 9%--doesn't feel that way in the least.

O: Not a bad pick up. It was 8 bucks or so, which puts it more or less in line with a number of Christmas-y releases, and frankly it's not bad compared to others I've had. Petrus continues to be a great value Belgian brewer, and this is no exception. If you're looking for potpourri in your mouth, look elsewhere, but for an easy drinking but boozy beer, not bad at all.

Poured in a tulip glass. Color is a dark orange, similar to a dark shellac. No cloud or haze, but dark enough not to be seen through.

Head is about 1/2 finger, which quickly disappears with no lacing.

Aroma is a little weak, but smells like gingerbread.

Flavor is similar to aroma, gingerbread. Alcohol is present, but not overpowering.

Finish has a touch of spices, but doesn't linger as much as I prefer.

A good dark Belgian, that could be better. I might buy another, but am not for certain.

Pours a hazy orange-ish color with a small tan head. In the aroma, cinnamon and a bit sweet. In the taste, cinnamon, nutmeg, a small caramel like roast. A spice bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a dry spice in the aftertaste. Nice spice and hides the 9% very well.
