Poured into a Weizen glass

Appearance: A nice golden brown. A little more deep than most. Thick head that dissipates after a few minutes but lingers on the glass.

Smell: Aside from the normal banana/wheat, a hint of spice and fruit.

Taste: Pretty spot on. Definitely one of my favorites of its kind.

Mouthfeel: Very smooth and the taste lingers. (I don't know if that should be in this section)

Overall: A very good beer. Definitely a recommendation in my book!

16.9 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a two finger head that reduced to a puffy layer. It is a cloudy orange brown color with slow moving bubbles coming up through the glass. Darker than normal, but wheat comes in different forms.

Smell: Banana, clove, spices, bready wheat, and a little sweet fruitiness too.

Taste: Even though it doesn't look like a traditional German here, it is spot on with all the other characteristics. Very tasty.

Mouthfeel: Chewy, medium to full bodied, low carbonation, a little smooth, and delicious.

Overall: Awesome here and very delicious.

From a bottle at Atlanta's 2013 and 2015 German Bierfest. Not a favored style for me.

Hazy medium brown. Smallish but durable off-white head.
Perhaps a lighter aroma than flavor but aromatic for style. both feature some yeast and banana.
Unusual hint of smoke in the taste. Less banana than average (a good thing IMO).

Good if unexceptional mouthfeel.

From a 500 ml bottle (with a code of 121112) into a hefe glass.

A-This brew is darker than many of this style with two and one-half fingers of light khaki head sitting atop a burnt orange liquid. The murk from the yeast is typical hefe and the retention is good on the head, but the color looks a little odd.

S-I smell a lot of spiced orange, some lemon, and a bready yeast. The wheat comes through as wet grain and there is more malt scent noticeable here than many of this style. Unique malt and orange qualities aside, the smell works for me.

T-The taste is sweet and phenolic with more orange than lemon citrus. The spice works well with the orange flavors and, when combined with the bready yeast flavors, leaves me with the impression of a good breakfast pastry. The wheat flavor is a bit steely and thin, and there is just a bit of mild grassiness on the finish.

M-The brew is medium to lighter in body with a smooth, persistent carbonation that is a good fit for this style.

O-This may be a traditional-sounding German hefe, but it is a little different than most other German hefes I have tried. The orange flavors and malty, rusty looks may not play well with some people, but I rather enjoyed this beer. It is drinkable, flavorful, and a nice brew for a hot summer day...or perhaps a sunny almost-fall day.
