500ml bottle into a conical pint glass. Paid £2.90 for a single bottle.

Pours a cloudy, amber-brown coloured body, which turns to a dark golden yellow when held to the light and allows tons of visible streaming carbonation to be observed. A two-finger in height, fluffy, white head reduces quickly to a patchy film and thin collar, without leaving much lacing on the glass.

The nose is subtle overall; it leads primarily with a light amount of creamy malted wheat and white flour, along with some very faint clove notes in the background. Even after warming, the banana, bubble gum and fruity esters typical of the style remain absent. The taste follows the nose, upfront, slightly sweet, soft wheat leads, alongside a very mild citrus touch. Mid palate strong clove and light peppery characters build to provide a fair amount of spice, peaking with a bite towards the back end, before being joined by a hint of earthy hops in the finish. In the mouth sparkling carbonation and a medium body give a slightly prickly, but smooth and crisp feel. Spicy clove and alcohol give a touch of warmth, finishing quick, clean and dry on the palate.

Overall this is a pretty good beer. The soft wheat body isn’t quite robust enough to support the dominant clove and pepper phenols but it still remains a very drinkable and enjoyable beer. I’d certainly try it again, but given the choice, prefer the more complex and fruity Tap 7.

Pours a hazy pale golden color, covered by a decent white foamy head, ok retention. Lovely aroma of wheat, bananas with some citrusy and spicey presence. Taste is the same. Sweet and wheaty, a bit fruity with some spices and lemony feel in the mildly bitter finish. Nice.
