This is a popular beer in Berlin, nearly every drink store has it in stock.

It is hazy golden in appearance with a small but creamy head. A little lacing residue.

Strong banana & clove fragrance with a tid of floral aroma coming from the hops

The esters come out in the taste with a touch of banana. The wheat backs it all up bringing the yeast into balance. Slightly sweeter than the competition.

Good mouthfeel. Full body.

Drinkability is fine.

Pretty good beer overall.

I was assured that this was a somewhat popular brand with some of the locals in Bavaria. It was a cloudy deep yellow almost orange body with plenty of carbonation. The barmaid ensured a perfect pour from the bottle. The almost beige head was frothy and perfect. There were some spice and yeast characters to the aroma. The flavor was well balanced. Clove some banana and citrus. It had a full body for this style.

A: A cloudy grey-straw body with a cumulonimbus cloud of a white head.
S: Banana chews and a touch of vinegary yeast.
T: Loads of banana and very peppy indeed. Too much of a corn chips effect though, and infact the aftertaste reminds me of Monster Munch – disappears as it warms though.
M: Typical soft Weizen effervescence.
O: An average but full-flavoured example of the style, which is one of my favourite styles.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy (it is a hefe or yeast beer, after all) amber color with a pleasantly large white head. Nose detects lovely banana scents with some bread. Taste follows nose, with bready flavor with banana notes. Enjoyable!

This beer represents the definition of a bavarian style hefe weizen-no doubt. Comes in a classic Euro bottle 0,5l and has a precious banderole (blue/White colours) saying "Gutmann: gutes Bier.." yeah thats cool. Premium. Poured into a wheat beer glass (Stephani) the beer looks pastel-orange. Fluffy head. Looks like cloudy and all natural apple juice! Aromas of fruits, banana and also spicy nutmeg. Very fizzy and refreshing, nice yeasty taste. Grainy and so soft, not that much carbonation what makes this Hefeweissbier so quaffable.

Pours a massiv, dense, creamy head with a lovely, hazy peach color.

The aromas yield spiced banana big times, along with cinnamon and clove, as well as bready malts. Banana is rich on the nose, together with marzipan and bread, all flavors chime in with the fruit.

Drinks enormously smooth, with bready soft malts and a silky yeastiness, providing the most complex, well integrated banana flavor I have yet experienced in a beer. Not only comes the banana incredibly smooth to the palate, due to the soft yeast pillow, it also got a fantastic complexity to it, provided by honey and cloves. Even in the finish, the fruit is still recognizable, acvompanied by a mellow grain flavor, blending outstandingly well into the beers malt foundation. Has a perfectly fitting carbonation, not too high, leaving enough space for the more fragile flavors to shine through, with a light, versatile body, very refreshing.

Appearance: Orangish, yellow; very cloudy, big head

Aroma: peppery, spicy, citrusy

Taste: smooth, well-balanced; hints of cloves and bananas; delicious

Remarks: This is my favorite German Hefeweizen. I was introduced to it by one of the workers at Heinrich's Supergetränkemarkt in Kornwestheim.

Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Gutmann Hefeweizen is Bavaria in a bottle. Nice orange pour with plenty of foam, hints of banana in taste and smell. Beautiful presentation. This is the holy grail.
