Bottled & presumably watered down because this should be five percent and what we have here is
Pours a golden clear body with good white head
Aroma smells like self raising flour
Tastes like an average lager

Tastes better straight out of the can, so don't bother pouring it. Not brilliant but not terrible either. Decent session beer. Anyone travelling to the Euro 2016 this year will be drinking this, this is the official beer of the tournament and no doubt available in all stadiums and fan zones, although not in Lens for the Wales v England game ha ha

Really disappointing for such a big brand.

a - in a can

s - smells metallic, sour

t - awful, had to pour it away

m - bearable

o - I was probably happily drinking this when I was young but no more. It seems to have added fizz, why? Maybe bearable ice cold.

The colour is yellow with a tint of gold (6 EBC), the twi finger head is off-white and airy. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing.

The smell is a bit frowsy with notes of cardboard, grains and alcohol. Hints of honey and caramel. It is not very inviting.

The taste is malty with some hints of toffee and gunpowder. The sweetness fades leaving room for bread and dough. Medium body. The aftertaste got some French loaf and an anonymous bitterness. The finish is a bit heavy with mostly sweet malts.

The carbonation is medium strong, the small bubbles are fresh. The liquid is mid-smooth and a bit dry.

For most people, this is not only the definition of “beer” but the definition of “premium beer”. I don’t agree, as I think this one got a bit too much off-flavours.

A 440ml can with a BB of June 2012. Picked up cheap from Morrisons some time ago.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A clear golden colour with light carbonation and some floating sediment. Forms a small head of white foam that disappears rapidly. Aroma of light malt with hints of sweetness, overcooked veg and faint stewed hops. Slightly stale.

Tastes of light malt with a dry finish. Subtle hints of overcooked veg, corn and stewed hops. A slight sweetness and a stale cardboard note in the background. Dry but mild upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is dry, tingly and watery. Aftertaste of overdone veg and faint malt.

Pretty typical for a macro lager - bland and inoffensive. A relatively clean taste, but not much to hold your interest. Not really recommended - spend your hard earned cash on something with character.

Picked up a green, 275 ml bottle in the UK.

Slammed into a glass, which produced a big, fat, slightly yellowish head. Typical lager yellow color.

Smell was hoppy, grassy and fairly skunky. No fruits came though.

Not a lot of taste at first, but then a fair amount of sweetness came though. Nothing other than sugar, though. Could taste some grain and hops as it finished with some bitterness.

Mouthfeel was less than impressive. Very light and watery, imo.

This could pass for a US macro-lager.

Carlsberg Export, ABV: 5.0%.
500 ml can, 15.50 SEK (inc. refund) at Systembolaget.

Today (2 sep 2011) it's the 200th anniversary of JC Jacobsen, founder of Carlsberg, and inventor of the Carlsberg lager yeast that revolutionized the world of beer - a blogger was kind enough to remind me - and that calls for a Carlsberg! Even though it's one of the most popular beers in Sweden, I had (before this day) yet to try the 'Export'.

A: The liquid is see-through, the colour is pale gold, and the head is white and kind of cheesy - some lacing occurs.

S: Malt, doughy bread, mild hops, citrus and a hint of apples. In the beginning I get some sour, yeasty or chemical notes that soon fades away.

T: Mild, doughy bread, with hints of malt, citrus, butter, hops and water. A very balanced and neutral taste, with no nasty off-flavours, that really doesn't intimidate anyone.

M: The liquid is soft and creamy, with decent carbonation, and both body and bitterness are small to medium. High gulpability factor - as expected.

O: I can see why it sells - it doesn't taste bad and is very easy to drink - it's a lot better than other standard lagers. A party beer, a lawn-mower beer, or an everyday food beer. It's the easy way out beer - but probably not the best beer in the world.

275 mL green bottle poured into a pilsner glass. I bought these from the Co-Op on a buy-one-get-one-free offer. I mainly bought them for cooking purposes (lamb chops in a crock pot with peas, carrots, potatoes, whatever other veg you have around, then put cheese on top just prior to serving--try it!)

A: clear, pale yellow in colour, lots of bubbles.

S: lagery, not much going on--some grassy/grains and not much else

T: bitter and slightly--not horrible but not really enjoyable either

M: fizzy and carbonated

O: better for cooking than for drinking, but not incredible either way--I think I like normal Carlsberg better.

Pours a pale straw yellow, average sized, bubbly white head that fades.

Clean & with gain & hops aroma.

Some hop bitter to begin with & grain with hints of some citrus fruits.

Light bodied although not too watery with okay carbonation.

It is what it is, cheap pale lager aimed at the masses. Nothing exciting or special about it, just a solid cheap lager that is very drinkable.

A clear light straw colored beer, a rather small white head but leaving good lacing.

The smell is of malt, sweet white bread, some citric and some faint hoppiness.

Sweet cornflakes and newly baked bread, some faint sourness going over to a dryer bitterness.

Medium high carbonation, a full and clean body.

Certainly not the best beer in the world, but good enough.

"Average" is perhaps the best word to describe this beer's appearance, sitting there in a dimpled stein, golden yellow with an initially thick but ultimately papery white head. If one were to run a Google image search for "beer," most people would be fairly happy with this result. I'm not. The smell of it is perhaps nearer to the smell of water than any other beer I've passed beneath my nostrils, really this is a pathetic aroma: metallic minerals, corn juice, and soju. The flavor is stronger than the nose, but it's also really terrible, with notes of sour grain, soapy water, and tin. Sure, it's fizzy and light (though not really light enough), but as far as I'm concerned it's just too distractingly nasty to be refreshing. And this is the more "premium" Carlsberg; it doesn't bode well for the brewery's other offerings.

How did this beer end up as an option on my Atlanta-Rio de Janiero flight? It sure surprised me. 330 ml can, made in both the UK and Denmark, on to the beer:

Good clarity in this beer. The bone-white head is patchy and sticks very well on top the pale gold colored beer. A little steely in the aroma, but also with mild malt sweetness. Surprisingly smooth in the mouth and in flavor. It doesn´t feature the grainy and rough edges of the usual macro lager. A sweet lager...with light tones of wood. And, if the following makes sense, has texture. A surprise of a macro lager...better than Stella, Heineken, and even its brother Carlsberg.

A- Golden with a quickly residing white head.

D- A pretty standard lager that is easy to drink.

A: Golden with a small white thick head that dies quickly.

S: Not very strong-smelling: Malt, some bitter hops and faint citric notes.

T: Not very strong-tasting: Malt, some bitter hops and faint floral dito, some citrus and green apples.

M: The aftertaste is bitter but very short. Medium creamy body with lots of carbonation.

D: This is what you get when you in Sweden goes to the pub and orders a large (strong) beer - uninteresting. This is what the pubs sell in large numbers...

Incredibly common drink in the UK, pretty much available everywhere, in one form or another.

A - Golden in colour, with a copious head. Very highly carbonated.

S - Hops coming through, with a slight biscuity scent.

T - The taste doesn't have a great deal to it, very bland. There is a hint of bitter malts but that is about all.

M - Very lively in the mouth, however, it has a very light body, to the point of being thin and watery.

D - The sort of beer that gets downed pint after pint on a weekend, but it is certainly not one for people who are actually looking for some flavour and complexity to their beer.

Really I think this is one of the lagers people generally drink just for the effect as the taste is all rather bland and does not have a great deal going for it. Certainly not a great beer as their adverts like to suggest anyway. Probably the best beer in the World, indeed!

This gets an identical review to the normal carlsberg as im convinced its the same bland pee.

Pint served in imperial pint glass.

A- Pale appple juice yellow, thin whispy head, minimal head. no lacing.

S- Not a lot, some faint grassy malts.

T- Watery in the beginning changing to an inoffensive faint hop bite in the finish. Finish is quick but its so creamy, did this turn to milk in my mouth?? Weird.

M- Thin and watery but the finish is so creamy it is confusing.

D- Mediocre bland lager. Identical in every way to the normal Carlsberg, and same abv, so what makes it export?? Not sure. Gets a lower mark due to an export should be having a more robust hoppiness.

Pours a clean golden/ yellow color with small to no head. In the aroma, sweet and a small pilsner hop. In the taste, a dry pils hop, and a somewhat skunky bitterness. A smooth mouthfeel, with a dry, clean aftertaste. Ok lager, small dry bitter is nice, but nothing outstanging.

Served in 330ml green bottle
Nice golden beer. Good head to start, recedes rapidly within a minute or two but retains nice glacing against the glass. Nice crisp taste on the tongue with good fizz but perhaps a bit too flat and hoppy towards the end of the bottle. Not too heavy so it's a decent session beer. Worth a go

I'm guessing the Carlsberg I'm drinking is the same as the one reviewed here. My can is green and just states Carlsberg. The ABV is 4.3% and the beer was brewed for Carlsberg by Diageo at St. James Gate. It is as most people state a euro pale lager but I've always found that they have a fresher/hoppier taste when consumed in the country that they were brewed in. I've enjoyed it in cans and on draught over the past week in Ireland and will alwasy seek it out when here even though I wouldn't buy it back in states because its missing that fresh hop bite.

Golden straw-colored beer with a fluffy white head that dissipated quickly but, left a nice lacing on glass. Minimal aroma. Flavor of sweet malt. Nothing to write home about This is a pretty typical European lager. It would make a good session or lawn mower beer.

tall silver 50ml can. best before jan 07.

pours clear light golden. little carbonation. head forms a frothy white consistency. medium sized but settles to a thick lace after a few minutes.

aroma is light, but mainly malt sweetness comes through. a slight sharp hoppiness when swirled.

taste has thick malt behind it, which probably isnt best for this style. would think it would be much thinner and lighter. its not unsavory though. little bitterness or hop flavor, but it doesnt come across as too sweet.

pretty standard lager, and pretty forgettable as well.

This is a very aromatic beer and for that reason I like it a lot, it has a skunky yeast semll to it that facinates me.
The head has pretty good retention and I would think that it is not a pausterized beer due to its slightly murky colour.
I think this is a good bitter beer worth drinking either for quenching thirst or tasting with some good food.

The beer pours a dark-golden hue with a slowly-retreating white head, and high carbonation. On nose it's bready, lager-malty, with some sweetish lemon-cake and corn-like maltiness and a refreshing hoppy note. The taste is a bit bland, with mild-malty flavour and some faint trace of hops... Overall the body is overly watery and the mouthfeel too light. It's an OK beer to go with BBQ for me but absolutely nothing to write home about.
