Don't know why this is classified as a pilsner, it tastes exactly what a premium version of Hieneken might taste like if possible. Pours a dark golden color out of those damned 11.2 ounce Euro-bottles, little head, but a very German beer-like appearance. The smell is mostly malt, but a very good, and thick malty flavor, unlike the american counterparts that are trying to be this beer. The taste is very much like an unskunked Heineken (it was on the dimmly lit top shelf...), and is quite satisfying for what it is. A damn good lager! Pilsner...not so much, very little hops to this Danish beer. The mouthfeel is suprisingly heavy for a lager. It has the hop oil charachter to it, but not the taste. It's quite wierd. The drinkability is damned good, from my first expierance, I could drink these all day! A well done and celebrated lager from Europe!

A- Somewhat hazy. But it's got the typical golden, straw appearance overall. It's got a nice rim of foam that seems to be sticking around, as well as a touch of lacing. Looks like a step up from American beers.

S- There is some upfront sweetness, but it's not dominating the scent at all. There is a "kiss" of hops here. It's a very grassy and earthy hop. Not bitter at all. And I also get the spicy note from the hops as well. The grain is the same as well. It's grassy and earthy. I get a biscuity note as well as a lightly roasted, pale maltiness. Smells inviting for a lager. Smells like no rice or corn or any kind of adjunct, that's for sure.

T- Pale malts, earthy grains, and slight bitterness. It's got that "green bottle" flavor like you get from Heineken, but this isn't screaming skunky to me. I get the grainy, bitter, sweet note before the beer finishes dry and minimally sour. The sour could be considered skunk, but nothing is sticking out to me as foul to my taste buds. But the more I'm drinking this one, the more I'm thinking it is slightly on the skunked side.

M- Light to medium. This is a pretty rich lager. It does have a slight creaminess. It's super crisp and refreshing.

I may be biased here, but I absolutely love Carlsberg. My sample is a bit skunked, but it's not creating a un-enjoyable drinking experience. If anything, it's making the beer finish on the sour side. I personally find that interesting. Out of all the pale type lagers I've ever had, this one is my absolute favorite. I'd buy this over Bud, Miller, Coors, PBR, Corona, or even Heineken. I don't know if we in American can get the cans, but I'd say buy cans for a more pure taste. I love this stuff!

Drank this in Poland on 7/19, from notes. The GF's grandfather had a .5L bottle that we split into pint glasses. Poured that typical clear bright gold with a big head that dissapated fast. Smelled of sweet pilsner malt, no hint of hops. Carries over the flavor, this is more of a euro lager than a German Pilsner. Sweet malt with just a hint of bitterness, neutral mouthfeel and refreshing carbonation. Easy to drink but wholly unremarkable.

Carlsberg looks like a relatively decent lager, and if you temporarily disable your taste buds - it might even fool you that it is a good lager, as it is incredibly smooth. However, as I was unable to do so, I was overcome by the incredibly metallic aftertaste, which completely ruined any sense of flavor for me.

Another new beer I have been wanting to sample.

Opened the bottle and took a deep smell. Nice. Actually smelled like beer, not floral or citrus or any of that other crap.

First sip revealed a good, strong and tasty beer flavor. Some hops, but the malt balances it pretty well. I have no tolerance for hops, so any little bit extra may as well be a truckload to me. This reminds me of Krombacher (a very good German beer which Georgia's stupid distributor laws do not allow to be sold in GA) and of Weihenstephaner (wow, GA actually allows a German beer to be sold without bowing low and long to Sweetwater) because of the good mix of malt and hops without too much hops. A very good beer to drink and enjoy.

Want to know about the foam lacing or the bready aftertaste? Go to www.beeridiots.com. I have no need of knowing the foam lacing, etc.. I want a beer that tastes good without all the buckets of hops. This beer offers that. Good taste, good flavor, good mix of hops and malts and a satisfied customer in me.

Thanks.

An old favorite. Kind of like Stella Artois, but maybe a little bit better. Good Pilsner flavor. Here goes:

A: Clear yellow with plenty of body carbonation. Also pours a good head, but one that readily dissipates and leaves little lacing.

S: Straw, lemon, wheat, and crackery bread. Good Pilsner.

T: Follows the nose, which is good. Floral and lemony.

F: Great. Nice and light. Perfect Pilsner mouthfeel.

O: A good beer. For its style, it's quite lovely.

Appearance – Clear yellow in color with some active carbonation and a big, foaming white head.

Smell – The skunk rolled from the bottle before the “t” in the “pssst” from the cap popping was completely finished. The grain is putrid, but masked by the incredibly sharp skunk.

Taste – There’s a decent sweetness to this one, but not nearly enough to cover up the horrible grain flavor.

Mouthfeel – This is of course light-bodied, but the good news is that it is smoother than your typical macro Pale Lager swill.

Drinkability – If you could get this without the skunk it might not be half bad.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours very pale yellow, crystal clear, with about 1/2" of soapy head. Retention is actually relatively good, lasting for half the glass or so. Lacing is light.

S: Lemons. It's the first thing on the nose and it's there the whole time. There are also some light herbal or grassy notes as well as a completely separate citrus hop aroma. A cut above average for a pilsener.

T&M: Relatively dry, clean, and slightly bitter hops carry through with a light weight but surprising flavor. Malts are very mild and light matching the relative body of the brew very well. A somewhat sharp citrus bite accompanies the otherwise mild flavors allowing for an interesting character. Finish is very quick and clean with just a bit of a bitter linger. Carbonation is moderate and persistent.

D: Relatively thirst quenching and mostly enjoyable. Aside from the sharp citrus bite, there isn't a lot of interesting flavors to speak of. It's a solid brew with decent taste. Worth trying at least.

I was actually supprised by this one. It poured a pale golden color with a nice frothy white head that was quite inviting. The smell was nothing great, but not skunky either. Light hops surrounded by sweet malts was in the nose and the taste was not much different either. The flavor reminded me of a smoother, less skunky heineken, with a little thicker mouthfeel as well. If you are fan of euro lagers, give this one a try!

While touring Hamilton, Bermuda on a fairly hot day, we stopped in a bar and I had a couple of these. Very refreshing, but so is cold water.
The beer was a gold color with a medium sized white head.
Vaguely floral and sweet malt aroma.
Very little taste, just a bit of hops.
Certainly a session beer. Not much else to recommend it.

Imported to Puerto Rico by Medalla distributors.

Appearance : Nice straw color with some white head.

Smell : Some hop in the smell, maybe some grains but far away.

Taste: Hops, malt, light to medium bodied, very nice beer

Mouthfeel : I really enjoy a beer it is on-tap, very easy to drink, not a hard taste, very some flavors in there.

Drinkabilty: Nice beer, can go again with this one.

Presentation: 12oz green bottle. No freshness date. Brewed in Toronto, Canada.

Appearance: Pale straw yellow / golden beer with a nice pure white head that quickly settles to a thin white foam lace. Active carbonation.

Smell: Sulfur. Skunky. Herbal. Expected.

Taste: Light-bodied. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel. Crisp. Dry. Even dextrin/malt feel on the palate. Malt sweetness is low. Hops contain a quick, sharp citrusy bite with notes of spicy herbal and floral fading back into the light malt character. Notes of sulfur pull thru, but don't overwhelm. Finish is quite dry with a slighty spicy herbal hop residuals and a husk character.

Notes: Honestly, for a big pseudo-imported macro beer, this isn't all that bad to suck down. Similar to a Heineken, but better, IMO. Just an okay lager. Around average, and nothing more.

A - it poured a clear yellow with a inch worth of rapidly disolving head. the lacing was weak, but stuck throughout the drink.

S - initially a bit skunky after initial opening, sweet florals and hops were the first smells to hit me

T - sweet florals translated into citrus mixed with hops taste. overall a sweet beer.

M - fairly light bodied with a decent ammount of carbonation. pretty basic.

D - i needed a quick change off the ales and tripels, so i picked this up. hit the spot well. it goes down easy and i soon found myself with an empty box after the first beer.

bottomline... i like it about as much as becks, but not as much as lowenbrau and warteiner. i like it more than stella and heiniken.

12 oz green bottle, no freshness date. Brewed in Toronto Canada by Labatt.

Decent frothing at first pouring, a two finger cropped white head stays for about a minute then settles to a pasty lace.

Mild cooked hop aroma with a side of grain, a pretty clean aroma other than the stinky hops.

Light bodied with a thin malty palate, crisp and clean on the tongue with a semi forced carbonation. Quick flash of hop bitterness is all of the hops that you see other than a faint veggie flavour that would come from an over cooked hop. Light and grainy in the finish, dry in the end with a faint alcohol.

An ok lager, probably tastes better from Denmark … just another pseudo-import in America.

Serving was lightly chilled poured into glass mug. Poured golden amber with dry white head, lacing abounds. Smell is sweet and grainy, better than most cheap green bottles, but barely. Taste is thick, corn is very present, no skunkiness. Full bodied mouthfeel. Not horrible, better than most American macros and cheaper. Only complaint is 11.2 oz bottles and not 12 oz.
