This beer is probably suffering from over production. It is a nice pilsner with a long history of production. It is a quality European Pilsner that is very drinkable and quite nice after a long hot day. Be careful as you can drink too many and the after effects are quite nasty. It seems this beer will give you a nasty hangover.

11.2 oz single. Picked up for fun / nostalgia. Poured into a Carls Glas...

A: gold with a tinge of copper; thin white, effervescent manages decent retention.

S: cracker malts; metallic; grass.

T: light bready malts; hay; dry / earthy finish; pretty simple and straightforward.

M: light-medium feel; high carbonation; refreshing.

O: an easy drinking beer; nothing special, but still decent.

I had this on tap at Whiskey Priest. There's nothing intriguing about a super-mass produced German pilsner named "Carlsberg", but damnit I was curious. Well, I shouldn't have been. This tasted like an upper-middle class Budweiser. The color is pretty nice, dark for a pilsner, but other than that it was a super pedestrian beer. Which I guess is fine for what it is.

Poured from a chilled 12 oz. bottle.

Appearance: Golden hay color with 1.5 fingers of head. Plenty of bubbles. Head disappeared within 60 seconds.

Aroma: Barley aroma, very straight and narrow, not complex at all.

Taste: Classic Pilsener taste. Straw, hay, barley. Straight and narrow. Not complex. Refreshing.

Mouthfeel: Not much difference over time. Holds the flavor and aroma.

Overall: Refreshing pilsener. A classic. Somewhat narrow taste, but very refreshing.

This pours a fizzy pale golden yellow with foaming that quickly dies out. There’s a nasty aroma of adjuncts: cereal and corn malt bla-ness. Tastes light and forgettable, no bitterness, thin finish.
The pride of Denmark shouldn’t be this forgettable adjunct lager.

Appearance - Pours a semi-clear, golden straw color with a half finger of head. Sub-par retention, leaving a thin, broken layer of microbubbles on the surface.

Smell - Grain and dextrin sweetness.

Taste - Follows the nose; grain and malty, sugary sweetness. Passing note of grassy hop character in the aftertaste that really does nothing to balance the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body, with a malty presence. Somewhat lively carbonation.

Overall - Malt forward, unbalanced brew. Not a good German Pils by any stretch of the imagination.
