Not bad but not great either. If there's one characteristic that stands out it's smooth. Clear, pale yellow color with a thick lace that keeps long enough in my view. Nothing really stands out on taste or scent. Still, it's a refreshing lager.

Refreshing, slightly bitter crisp taste, well balanced taste, 1 finger level of head, slight apple notes , citrus flavours and bitterness are present but not overpowering. The quality is maintained regardless of drop in abv and in my opinion is better than the regular lager. Overall, this is actually a great tasting liquid.

500 mL can from TBS; best before August 3rd 2013. #6 in a series of reviews detailing beers that you probably shouldn't bother with if you aren't a hopeless ticker like me. Two light lager reviews in a 24 hour period - is this really what I have come to? Time to re-evaluate the course my life has taken.

Pours a clear golden yellow colour, topped with slightly more than one finger of frothy, bone-white head that fizzles away right before my eyes. To my surprise, it does manage to leave a thin ring of lacing around the edge of the glass before it vanishes into the ether. The aroma is, of course, quite bland, but still decent by light lager standards - some pale malt sweetness, corny/DMS notes and a wisp of something that vaguely resembles hops.

Certainly not the worst lager I've ever had, light or not - the fact that I can pick out not only actual pale malts, but also some semblance of weedy, almost herbal hop character from amongst the tempered adjunct sweetness speaks volumes, I think. The finish is fairly dry and reasonably clean. Light-bodied and quite watery, with extremely high carbonation that assaults the tongue mercilessly. Easy to consume quickly, and I'd have to recommend that you do this because it gets quite a bit grosser as it warms.

Hilariously enough, this particular can was sitting next to a can of regular Carlsberg that was selling for less money. A mere 5 cents less, I suppose, but it still made me raise an eyebrow. Perhaps the water actually costs more than the ingredients - or more likely, the store is just aware that anyone who buys imported light beer is probably a chump. Fair enough - and while we're being fair, I feel it's worth noting that this beer is easily above average for the style. In a sea of tasteless, uninteresting beers, this one is slightly less tasteless and uninteresting than the vast majority of its watery brethren.

Final Grade: 3.16, a reasonable C+. Taken for what it is, Carlsberg Lite is a pretty decent offering. That being said, unless the most exotic beers you've had previously are Heineken and Corona, it's not the sort of thing that is going to come across as impressive or memorable. As someone who usually prefers to avoid 4.0% lagers, I doubt I'll ever get it again - but if, in the future, I were being pressed to purchase a light beer (for some inconceivable reason) I'd certainly consider it. If you're in to the style, this one is worth a try, but other than that there's really no reason to bother with it.

Oh yeah...picked up some cheap stuff from the Beer Store. I've decided I'd like to know if any of their can selection is decent. I don't have high hopes for this one. Though the slogan on the can is, "Probably the best light beer in the world." Quite a claim. The ingredients listed: water, barley malt and hops. No adjuncts and strangely...no yeast. I guess they forgot about that. Unless they've revolutionized the brewing process...not likely. Could they also have forgotten to list adjuncts in that case?

I poured this really hard to get some head happening. A finger of airy bright-white head quickly fades to a complete-but-thin covering of the surface. You could probably read a book through this beer, it's so clear. Paler-yellow than cheap "apple drink". Some lacing. This is a light beer, however, and as such doesn't look all that bad.

Light yeast, a touch of noble hops, grain and a slight sweetness. I'm not picking up any off scents, there's just not much to be scented. Actually, when the head disappears, so does the smell. Nothing left.

I'm not sure why this beer has received such a thrashing here in the reviews so far. It's not terrible for a light beer. I would even say the taste is better than average for its style. Very light, clean taste. A bit of grain, light peppery hops, the slightest sweetness from a very light malt. Leaves a lightly sweet, candy-like aftertaste. It's really not unpleasant. It's just not complex or interesting or etc. etc... You can't go rating a light lager a 2.0 for flavour because it's too light...it's a light lager. Go drink a Quadrupel.

It's pretty thin bodied...but again, this is a light beer. Or should I say 'Lite' beer. Moderately carbonated. I'd say the carbonation even pairs well with the hop profile: lightly sparkling carbonation with the peppery hops. The finish is slightly drying, but nothing overwhelming.

If we're talking about Imperial Stouts here of course this would be a bad beer! But as a light beer, which it is, this it definitely drinkable. No off flavours, no adjuncts. This stuff is chugable. I'd drink this over many a light lager, not that I ever buy light lager. But if for some reason I did want a light lager (possibly a very hot day combined with being relatively poor), I could see myself buying this again.

A - Clear straw with a small white head.

S - Awfully skunky. Kinda chalky and a bit of grass.

T - Acidity up front. Some lite grain in the middle and a hint of herbal hops in the back. No aftertaste to speak of.

M - Really, really fizzy. Ouch.

D - Kinda rough, especially for a light beer. Not my cup of tea.
