I'm not much of an intensive reviewer... I don't care about lacing or the different notes of flavor. Is it good.. Ok... Lousy..

This is simply ok... Nothing special at all. A very typical pale ale. It's nothing I'd seek out or pay extra for...

12/28/15 Bottle Home

Pours golden yellow with not much to it in the appearance category. Not much of a head and when you see unfiltered on the label you expect it to be cloudy or merky but it looks like a Bud.

The smell is ok. It's kind of middle of the road with an avg amount of hop presence and a touch of grapefruit as well.

The taste is kind of refreshing but it leaves you wanting more hops and citrus bit. There really isn't much of an identity to this one. It is fairly smooth and easy to drink but it's not going to be a very memorable beer.

A: Golden with a bit of haze. Fluffy, big-bubbled, slightly rocky, white head. Not much for retention, but leaves a few splotches of lace.

S: Citrus hops – soft grapefruit & tangerine. Light crystal malt sweetness and some faint wheat. Not a huge variety going on, but very okay for strength.

T: Perhaps more pale ale than wheat. Solid malt backbone with pale perhaps just a step ahead of doughy, somewhat generic & clean wheat. Fair bit of bitterness with a Cascade & Centennial hop character of grapefruit and orange/tangerine. More fruit than rind. Underlying light malty sweetness enhances fruit perception. Not all that complex, but robust and tasty with loads of nice character.

M: Medium body with expansive & mouth-filling carbonation. Fairly quenching & refreshing. Good feel for its abv & style.

D: A nice hoppy pale wheat ale. A tad shy on the wheat part, but it makes up for it with the hops. Tasty and drinkable. A very stand up offering for the hotter summer months, but okay any time.

Very interesting and... aptly named!

Pours with a respectable, creamy head. Unfiltered indeed! The break is a hazy, almost murky amber hue, with noticeable sediment that stays in suspension with a light swirl or two of the bottle.

Aromas are earthy, unexpectedly. I got a fermenting hay, not-quite-barnyardy, but musky quality. Also, dry grass with some mild with some light orange blossom, pithy citrus rind, and a few faint pine cone in the back.

Flavors really follow the nose here. Quite refreshing and crisp, but not at all clean. Over-ripened mango and pineapple, with a moderate bitterness. Again, something musky and something vaguely but pleasantly like sweet compost, like a pile of autumn leaves. On a hot, wet, day. Dry grass clippings, sawdust, something else subtle and hard to pinpoint.

Lighter bodied and easy drinking, even with all the grime and murkiness. The hops come through well to make this one quite refreshing.

The soul of a citrusy, juicy, clean IPA, packaged in a dirty, unfiltered, brew that has many traits that remind me of a farmhouse brew.
