A: Pours a straw brown color with a thick haze, 2-finger head and nice sticky lacing.

S: Very aromatic with great pine and floral hops. A hint of woodsmoke and bread underneath.

T: Pine cone and citrus rind up front with a nice woodsy earthen middle and a bone-dry finish. Pine, flowers, citrus, earth, grass, and a hint of alcohol are the big flavors. It is a big beer, but doesn't quite taste like 9.5% abv. Well-balanced.

M: Robust, gritty and earthy in the mouth with a thick finish and an even finish that belies its high abv. It feels dangerous.

O: World-class Double IPA. A huge effort that pays off big, and makes you want more instantly.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Hazy golden color with an inch head.

Aroma is a bright citrus with a malt background.

Taste is surprisingly thin with a citrus hop. Definitely don't taste the alcohol.

Great IPA but doesn't come off as a double.

I have always been a fan of double IPAs and am very fortunate to be able to taste all the best ones the northeast has to offer. Having said that, i must say the Adirondack double IPA should be considered world class.

The batch i most recently tasted (may2014) was spot on. The color was on the lighter side with a slight haze. It had a smell and taste that went hand in hand, clean while exploring the citrus notes of these hops. but watch out this brew will sneak up on ya ! (%12 ABV)

*update: have had this beer a few times since my original review. each time it is different. some excellent, some are ok.
