Beer bottle (33cl.), tasted in 1999.

Appearance : pale golden color, with white creamy foam head.
Smell : coriander, orange peel, and lemon aromas.

It is a cloudy golden color that makes it almost look white. The head is big and fluffy and has good retention. The aroma has some subdued citrus and and hop aromas. The body is nice and light with a little bit of corriander and orange zest. It finishes with a delicate bitterness. It is less sweet then many wits I have tried. There is less emphasis on the corriander and orange peal and more on the hops in this beer. Overall it is very good and refreshing.

The Haecht witbier is without doubt being made to rival with the Hoegaarden witbier from strong brewer InBev (former Interbrew). This is noticeable in the colour and that dry citrus aftertaste. Still it isn't the same. It tastes much more like you have just aded water.
In summer people tend to add some ice cubes and lemon to a Hoegaarden, I think they want you to do the same. The weak aroma wants you to give it more taste. Most of the time Haecht is served in bottles. Haecht on tap has a stronger flavour, but as it is not a very popular beer, not a lot of pubs want to take the risk. Witbier on tap has to flow regularly because of the yeast in the cast that settles in the tubes of the installation.

Had this as part of a sampler at a Brussels restaurant for lunch. I love that each "sample" was at least 8 oz.

A-Looks similiar to hoegarden. Cloudy, lots of fluffy white head.

S-Very floral, with some lemon and coriander noticeable.

T-Same as smell.

M-medium body and carbonation

O-not a terrible witbier, but not as smooth and overall not as good as Hoegarden
