Beer tasting session with RvDoorn

A: Amber color with a similar head that dissapears fast.

S: First thing that came to my mind was mint/eucalyptus. Hops and red fruits. Some citrus terpenes.

T: A more fruity variety of Leffe Dubbel. No mint taste as suggested by the smell.

M: Medium carbonation and a nice smooth drink. Slightly bitter aftertaste

D: Very drinkable, but nothing original here. Leffe association stays up.

Fruity in the nose rather strange that recalls both the grape and black raspberry subtle. The palate is spicy and pungent as the Charles V. Golden Blonde, it also tasted malts and roasted orange peel, but the mouth is unfortunately below the predictions olfactory flavorings.

Less than six bucks for a 750 ml bottle. Pours a deep red into my stemmed glass. Nice one inch head over the top but not dripping. Very thick foam with ridges. Smells like ripe pears and cranberries with the esters coming through. Taste is pretty good but the alcohol overtakes the dark fruits malts and yeast. Mouth fell is fine fairly medium and the head hangs around. Overall a decent amber strong Belgian but not as complex as some other ones that are out there.

Exp 22/06/08. What a treat, this turned my night around, a gift from biegaman's recent trip to Belgium, thanks! Deep ruby red and relatively clear, tan one finger head with slow steady carbonation that ensures good retention throughout. Impressive albeit thin lacing. The smell was subdued at first, then took on a mild fresh wood aroma, whether oak, pine or cedar, I couldn't be sure, it was fleeting and soon gave way to ripe plums and then cranberry on the nose.

The mouthfeel was rich and full with a very smooth texture. Taste was mild malt and hops, again very smooth with no rough edges, fruit and not alcohol despite the 8 1/2 %. Bitterness is subdued; overall, I'm impressed with the taste. There is a touch of fruit sweetness that is underwhelming, very drinkable. The muted sweetness reminded me of a tangerine or orange but without the citrus acidity or sugary presence, quite nice. It was a bit gassy at times and warming eventually brought out a warmer alcohol taste and mouthfeel, my only criticism. Hey, I could use another one of these! Recommended if you can find one, thanks again biegaman.

Amber red and filtered with a little carbonation. Topped with 3 fingers of light beige head.

Bananas, biscuit and esters, phenols and red tea.

The taste follows the nose only more intense, lots of toasted notes, light sweetness, phenols and berries. Hints of dark fruits and cherries.

Medium, slightly syrupy body, foamy, moderate carbonation.

Got this one online, drinking it in Chiang Mai, Oct 20th, 2017. Excellent brew.

Dark Brown Burgundy Shade.

Delicate nose but the aromas are there if you wait a while.

The head really drops off and it didn't rise like a number of the Belgian brews do.

It's not harsh on the aftertaste and has a nutty sort of fruit cake like taste a bit like a sweet pudding.

I don't mind it often you'll get a heavy alcoholic beer but the alcohol content overweights the flavour.
