Had this on 2019-10-16 in Joliet, IL from a 12oz bottle

Pretty decent for an adjunct lager. Bread with light grass spice. Thicker feel than expected. I enjoyed it.

Pours a clear yellow with fine head.

Smell is bready and floral with hints of sweetness and rye.

Taste is clean and bready with a nice biscuity base and a floral bitterness. Notes of butterscotch and citrus. Very drinkable and crisp.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice lager, clean and crisp and very thirst-quenching.

Canned on 6/7/18. 16.9oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with great clarity and transparency with bubbles racing upwards; fluffy eggshell white head that falls leaving nice retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have some hints of corn and barley. Some hints of caramel. Some toast and grains. Malts are there. It basically smells like your typical lager. The flavors follow the nose. More corn, caramel and grains. Mild hints of citrus. Malts do their thing. Low bitterness. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the lighter side of medium-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid lager. It's not flashy, but it's not supposed to be. Maybe it's not the best lager ever, but it's still nice and enjoyable. Not bad at all.

Brilliant golden-straw in color, topped with a shock white head. Excellent lacing.

Nose is neutral, with malt accented by grassy hops. Perhaps other cereal grains used as adjuncts? Semi-sour...

On the first sip the aromatics from the nose are identical inasmuch as tasting notes go: Slightly tangy-sour, but with a short, sharp (Noble?) hop bitterness which is all too fleeting for my liking. Seems grainy... sort of uninspired?

Aftertaste is not unpleasant, just a basic malt sweetness. Body is not thin, but not quite medium-full for a lager. Carbonation is proper for the style, and it is very easy to drink.

For the style this is very average overall, not far off from what I remember it being back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. To it’s credit it’s not at all expensive for an import - even cheaper than Bitburger!

500mL export can poured into a HB München mini dimpled mug.

L: Golden yellow with one finger head that stays for a little bit. Little lacing.
S: Standard lager yeast smell with a bit of sweetness.
T: Crisp and clean with crackery malt and slightly sweet malts, finishing with a slightly hop forward taste and breadiness. Good balance between malt and hops. Overall a little sweet.
F: Light to medium bodied with decent carbonation. Feels somewhat creamy but still crisp.

O: This is quite a good German export beer for the price. At $3.99 for 4x500mL cans, you can't really beat this one. Much better than all other AALs. Definition of an average Dortmunder.

500mL canned 5/10/18 bb 8/10/19 poured into a willibecher glass at fridge temp 5% ABV. The beer pours bright light straw yellow with nearly white head. The head recedes to a thin, splotchy cap and leaves a bit of lacing. The aroma is faint with some grain and yeast. The taste is pale malt and very light grassy hops. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. There is a hint of butter in the finish that keeps this beer from being as refreshing as a well made pils. Overall, ok for $5/4pk, but not great.

This beers pours a typical pale color with a soapy white head. There was some lacing left on the glass. I found this beer to be enjoyable and easy drinking. This to me is one of the better Euro lagers I have had.

A-Clear golden yellow with a ring of white head and good lacing
S-Aroma is bready and yeast driven with herbal and fruity hop notes
M-I will give this a low to medium mouthfeel with carvonation lpw and supple. Nicer than i thought it would be
T-Crisp ans dry with a subtle sweetness and nice balance
O-I enjoyed this beer with very low expectation. I respect the German ways and can appreciate tradition that is demonstrated here.

-optimally clear golden can pour with a thin foam cap. There is a light bready aroma. The flavor is pleasantly hoppy and the malt is light and fresh tasting. This is a clean, tasty lager.

From the 16 oz. can with an expiration date of 1/6/2018. Oops! Sampled on January 28, 2018.

The pour is golden yellow under a modest white foamy head that fades some and leaves a spot or two of lacing.

Big sweet bread and biscuit characters on the nose with a little grass and lemon zest defending the rear.

Light to medium body.

A clean and crisp toasted bread and biscuit sweetness can be found in the flavor with a a quick lasting mildly bitter end that tastes fresh all in all. I happen to be a fan of this style and this is a good example of it.

L: Pours a clear straw yellow color, a decent top of white head that disolves very quickly. Some lacings on the glass.

A: some light bisquity malts, grass, grains and some hops.

T: sweet and grassy in the start with malts noticable inn the background, then it finishes off with some herbal hop. medium bitterness inn the finish with a decent lenght inn the aftertaste.

M: Crisp and clean mouthfeel with medium carbonation and medium body.

O: This beer is drinkable enough yes, but far from exiting. Is a lot better dortmunders out there, this one is rather boring.

Its lager time! Summer really brings out the best of this style. Here comes a yellow pour, good 3/4" head, white on this one, not the most hearty in terms of retention. The aroma is the usual skunky noble hop and cereal grain vibe. I can dig it.

Taste is the usual suspects of more of those noble hops, in lower than average quantities, and those mild cereal grains, ever so lightly toasted. Mouth feel is the usual blast of highly carbonated lager water. Nothing out of the ordinary here, its the usual export lager type of hot weather banger. No tasting glasses needed. Its decent stuff, I know what I'm getting into, set your expectations for green Euro lager, it really conforms to the stereotype.

At $7 for a 6 pack of 16+oz cans this is probably the best beer for the money I've had. Definitely a solid tasty smooth crisp refreshing lager. Nothing crazy but a really reliable beer. yb

A: Transparent bright gold yellow. Nearly no head at all.

S: Grainy, yeasty, a little bit appley fruity. A very slight but detectable lagery funk. Stronger than the the typical beer but not very enticing to me.

T: Quite similar to the smell. A somewhat deep barley graininess, but not very malty. A slightly funky appley fruity light hop flavour but not quite the typical lagery bite. Some peppery alcohol booziness to it. Almost no bitterness and a rather light pleasant aftertaste.

F: Medium carbonation, rather crisp and seltzery. Very thin and light with nearly no coating.

O: Pretty good for what it is. It's not flavourless or bad, it's better than most popular beers, but it's nothing special either.

DAB Export. 500 ml can. 5% alc. Lager. Brewed by Dortmunder Actien Brauerei. Decent white head. The beer is golden coloured. There is not much aroma. Very faint grain smell. In other words, it smells like beer. The taste is grain, mild malted barley, and a pleasant slight hop bitterness that is most noticeable at the back of tongue. The beer is light to medium bodied. The finish is dry. This is my first time trying this beer.

500 ml can into lager glass, canned on 11/2/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of pale malt and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of cracker, lightly toasted biscuit, light honey, herbal, pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no yeast notes present. Light-moderate dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-moderate body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately grainy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a great Dortmunder! All around great robustness and balance of pale malt and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example. Perfectly balanced.

Solid German brew that's clear with bubbly head on the front end. Smells of grains and clover honey. German-styled balance in hops and malt. A little on the sweet side. Finished clean and crisp with honeyed grains after taste. Great price for solid German too!

Pours clear with a nice head which quickly disappears.

Smell is laid back, doesn't give much away.

When tasting it I was hit with a decent amount of carbonation and an interesting aftertaste. Reminded me very much of a lager.

Overall an easy beer to drink, however it doesn't leave much to the imagination.

One more beer I was disappointed with. Mostly because I was expecting something frome the Dortmunder style origin. Just faint lager. No special aroma or flavor.

A tasty brew without strong negatives. I first tried DAB 30 yrs ago when I worked in a deli with a German man who sung its praises. I liked it then and this is a really good version in a 500ml can. It tastes like a German beer, well balanced between hops and malt.

11.2 fl oz. bottle, bottled 229/15 printed on the back. "DAB Dortmunder Export" with no apparent abv listed anywhere.

Poured to clear tulip-ish stemware.

A - Pours a nice crisp golden body with excellent clarity and lots of streaming carbonation that feeds a good healthy two fingers of frothy white bubbly head that lingers and leaves good lacing behind. Steady stream of bubbles rising topside. Looks nice for the style, I will say that.

S - Aroma is pleasant enough: honey, sweetened grains, pilsner malt

T - Taste follows: sweetened grains, touch of honey, pilsner malt, bread, lager yeast.

M - Feel is smooth, crisp, & clean. Light-bodied, with good carbonation and excellent drinkability. A very sessionable beer.

Overall, while it isn't remarkable or truly great, this is still pretty quality stuff for an adjunct lager from Germany.

Serving Type: 500 mL Can

A- Pours pale gold topped by a foamy 1 finger white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Leaves behind a fizzy cap.

S- Very reserved aroma. Light grain, peach, grassy hops.

T- Light grain, grassy hops, and a mineral-water like flavour.

M- Medium-Light Body and moderate carbonation.

O- Easy drinking and flavourful, although not exactly exciting. This is the type of beer that anyone could enjoy regardless of their preferences.
