Nice gold colour, clear but lifeless. Corny and adjunct-like on the nose. The taste adds a bit of vibrancy but not too much. Still corny and bready. Not bad, not great

330ml bottle into a pint glass. Bottled 10/26/20, best by 1/26/22. 11 months old.

Looks decent in the glass. Glassy pale golden yellow body. Small white head shrinks to a ring and faint covering, no lacing.

Kind of a odd slightly musty aroma.

On tasting, quite clean, a little sweet, featherlight hop note towards the end.

Mouth medium, finish light.

Overall, not as much muscle as some US brewed Dortmunders, but it's fairly clean, easy drinking, and refreshing.

Pours a crystal clear golden body with pretty good white head
Aroma is like a tin of golden syrup being opened
Flavour is some corn flakes and some mild soapy bitterness

C'mon! It's German!! It's light nose and appearance causes one to be surprised by it's full bodied and malty taste. I know it's "basic" ... But it's really quite nice.

Pours a dark gold. Smells of bread and honey. Taste follows suit with the addition of a crisp grassiness and some more sweet malt and honey like sweetness. Feel is crisp and sharp. Very refreshing but basic.

Pours a clear amber with a light orange tint. Three finger head, lots of foam and fizz. Smell had floral notes but also quite metallic, which was a turnoff. Taste is malt-forward with undertones of bitter hops and a touch of fruity notes. Sharp and fizzy in the mouth but feels tight, it doesn’t wander or linger afterward. Good beer, would definitely have again.

This was a very bland and boring beer. Watery, sweet, virtually no carbonation. No bite or crispness. And for $6.99 for a 4 pack of 16.9 oz cans it was overpriced.

Poured from a 16oz can.
Nice two-finger heads easily poured into stem glass. Strong lacing on the glass. Color is yellowish and clear.
Aroma is grassy and light.
Taste of mild open grass fields with light maltiness in the background.
Mouthfeel is nice- crisp, then mellow, and slightly dry finish.
Overall, a very pleasing dortmunder style lager that is clean, easy-drinking, and satisfying in the end. I am glad I picked this up and gave it a try.

Look: Clear yellow with a huge, billowing white head that pillows nicely and holds up too
Aroma: Straw, cracker-like malt, floral hop notes, and cut grass
Taste: Big malt notes with a little grass up front and floral hops joining the fray soon after. Finishes with some nice cracker-like malt notes and more grassy hops as well. Very clean finish with a very light dryness
Mouthfeel: Medium-high carbonation, very clean and crisp throughout, and some light dryness on the finish
Overall: Tasty stuff here though this can was nearing the end of its best-by date do definitely not quite as sharp as it could be. Solid Dortmunder though and a great hot weather quencher. Prost!

Pours pale almost deep gold with excellent clarity; fluffy three fingers of white foam; long cap retention; soapy lacing. Baked bread, grainy sweet biscuit, light spicy hop nose. Firm bready malt with very little sweetness; no DMS, no sulfur; light spicy hop bitterness. Clean crisp feel; medium body and medium carbonation; dryish finish. Overall I really like; well balanced between malt sweetness and hop bitterness, both of which are subtle; light spicy linger.

From the can it pours a clear dark yellow with visible carbonation. A large foam head retains well and displays frothy lacing.

The nose is dominated by the malts that emit sweet, grainy and bready aromas. There is also a touch of floral and fruity hops aromatics.

The taste opens sweet and malt forward, with soft grains providing a smooth mouthfeel. A gentle earthy spice balanced things nicely along with a developing mild and clean bitterness. Notes of bready and lightly doughy malts, grassy hops and a touch of peppery spices. Light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. The finish is sweet then becomes spicier further into the drink.

Admittedly I’m not an expert on the style and I had to consult the BJCP. It seems to hit the style guidelines, but most importantly, it tasted good to me.

16 oz can poured into a Bass imperial pint glass. The beer is golden with a slight chill haze. It has a smallish white head and leaves some lacing.

I has some pronounced cereal/grain in the nose. There is a bit a floral note as well.

The taste is mild and slightly sweet. Grains and something a touch mineral like. Hops add a bit of a mild bite. A little honey like sweetness and more floral tasted mid-glass.

The mouth has a midrange heftiness to it. It is slightly coating.

My beer was brewed on2/4/20 so it is almost 5 months old. My can says it is good until 2/04/21.

Overall not a bad beer. I would like to try it on draft in Dortmunder.

500ml from Ontario retailer poured into a mug. Head dissipates quickly to a ring-like film and fairly limited carbonation. Some lacing remains on the glass as I drink. Despite being in a can, there's a skunkiness to it that reminds me of Pilsner Urquell or Heineken (and other Polish / Czech green bottle beers), but not nearly as strong. This is a suitable summer refresher choice at the price point. I expect nothing more and I'm satisfied.

The PBR of German Beers, maybe even more so than Kolbitz or whatever it's called, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing since this is an excellent cheap, just-mowed-the-yard kind of beer. Or the kind of beer you drink when you've just backslid into one of your more gripping RPG addictions.

I tried this beer a few years ago and decided to try it again as my normal local beer is getting a bit bland. looks golden and clear suggesting a stronger flavor. It taste more bitter than I'm use to but that's what I was looking for. Someone mentioned a thicker feel which I would agree and plan to keep a few around in the future.

Smell is bready and floral with hints of sweetness and rye.

Taste is clean and bready with a nice biscuity base and a floral bitterness. Notes of butterscotch and citrus. Very drinkable and crisp.

Mouthfeel is thin to medium, well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice lager, clean and crisp and very thirst-quenching.

Canned on 6/7/18. 16.9oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with great clarity and transparency with bubbles racing upwards; fluffy eggshell white head that falls leaving nice retention and sticky lacing. The aromas have some hints of corn and barley. Some hints of caramel. Some toast and grains. Malts are there. It basically smells like your typical lager. The flavors follow the nose. More corn, caramel and grains. Mild hints of citrus. Malts do their thing. Low bitterness. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the lighter side of medium-bodied with moderate to active carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid lager. It's not flashy, but it's not supposed to be. Maybe it's not the best lager ever, but it's still nice and enjoyable. Not bad at all.

Brilliant golden-straw in color, topped with a shock white head. Excellent lacing.

Nose is neutral, with malt accented by grassy hops. Perhaps other cereal grains used as adjuncts? Semi-sour...

On the first sip the aromatics from the nose are identical inasmuch as tasting notes go: Slightly tangy-sour, but with a short, sharp (Noble?) hop bitterness which is all too fleeting for my liking. Seems grainy... sort of uninspired?

Aftertaste is not unpleasant, just a basic malt sweetness. Body is not thin, but not quite medium-full for a lager. Carbonation is proper for the style, and it is very easy to drink.

For the style this is very average overall, not far off from what I remember it being back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. To it’s credit it’s not at all expensive for an import - even cheaper than Bitburger!

500mL export can poured into a HB München mini dimpled mug.

L: Golden yellow with one finger head that stays for a little bit. Little lacing.
S: Standard lager yeast smell with a bit of sweetness.
T: Crisp and clean with crackery malt and slightly sweet malts, finishing with a slightly hop forward taste and breadiness. Good balance between malt and hops. Overall a little sweet.
F: Light to medium bodied with decent carbonation. Feels somewhat creamy but still crisp.

O: This is quite a good German export beer for the price. At $3.99 for 4x500mL cans, you can't really beat this one. Much better than all other AALs. Definition of an average Dortmunder.

500mL canned 5/10/18 bb 8/10/19 poured into a willibecher glass at fridge temp 5% ABV. The beer pours bright light straw yellow with nearly white head. The head recedes to a thin, splotchy cap and leaves a bit of lacing. The aroma is faint with some grain and yeast. The taste is pale malt and very light grassy hops. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, adequately carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. There is a hint of butter in the finish that keeps this beer from being as refreshing as a well made pils. Overall, ok for $5/4pk, but not great.
