Poured into a pint glass, nice frothy, white head with mild retention and some lacing. Appearance was clear and golden. Aroma was slightly hoppy with more bready, malty notes. Taste was crisp with slight malt, hop notes and some bread and fruit notes. Mouthfeel was light and carbonated with a crisp, clean aftertaste.

L: Pours brilliant gold under a 2” long lasting white foam collar that grips the side of the glass.
S: Big bread aromas, medium low noble hops, lightly sweet grain, very faint sulfur.
T: Drinks smooth and crisp with a balance between malt and hops that produces spicy bread flavors. No fruit or movie popcorn butter flavors, but has a slight mineral character that is not overbearing and helps emphasize the hops.
F: Medium body and carbonation.
O: An easy to drink beer that is very balanced and smooth with a firm malt body.

This is a seriously malty beer. Since I've read in Papazian, et al, that Dortmunder lies somewhere in between a Pilsener and a Helles with regards to malt flavor, I was absolutely bubbling at the thought of how luscious my first Helles would be.

Well, after trying just one authenic Munich Helles (Hacker-Pschorr Edelhell), I can say that DAB has it beat in the malt profile.

This is a really good beer, and has a lot of serious quaffing potential. I would classify it as an "uber mensh" lawnmower beer to be consumed in a well-appointed beer garden of your choice.

Unfortunately, due to its hop/malt balance and white/green/gold/red packaging, this beer bears an uncanny resemblance to Clausthaler N/A, which is a serious buzzkill.

This is an almost colorless, crystal clear beer with a glowing golden hue. It easily supports a thick, spongy, white head. The aroma is faint but unfortunately soapy. The flavor is light and bready, with a slight grain mustiness that reminds me of mushrooms. I guess this is typical of the style, and I'd like to try it with mushroom pizza. The finish is faintly metallic and hoppy.

The mouthfeel is very interesting, it is light but has a kind of syrupy-buttery-melts-in-the-mouth quality where it gradually gets heavier. I like it. This is a very drinkable beer but I'm just not in love with this style.

Clear golden color with white head. Aroma has sweet malts and grains, very clean overall. Taste starts also slightly sweet and grainy, gets more bitter and hoppy towards the finish and lingers dry on the aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Very clean and easy drinking overall but lacks some character.

I'm likin' the Dortmunders a lot, and this is a good example. Much more noticeable malt flavor than a pale American lager, just a little more taste of German hops. Very drinkable, but too tempting to slam one down, especially after an evening spent cooking chile pork stew for the homebrew club picnic!

What can I say The first thing that came to mind was a strong Heiniken the taste was similer but body and mouthfeel a little firmer. Still I would take this over Heiniken any day this was my first Dortmunder Export and I would love to try others and compair. All in all not bad I'll have another.

11.2 fl oz. bottle, bottled 229/15 printed on the back. "DAB Dortmunder Export" with no apparent abv listed anywhere.

Poured to clear tulip-ish stemware.

A - Pours a nice crisp golden body with excellent clarity and lots of streaming carbonation that feeds a good healthy two fingers of frothy white bubbly head that lingers and leaves good lacing behind. Steady stream of bubbles rising topside. Looks nice for the style, I will say that.

S - Aroma is pleasant enough: honey, sweetened grains, pilsner malt

T - Taste follows: sweetened grains, touch of honey, pilsner malt, bread, lager yeast.

M - Feel is smooth, crisp, & clean. Light-bodied, with good carbonation and excellent drinkability. A very sessionable beer.

Overall, while it isn't remarkable or truly great, this is still pretty quality stuff for an adjunct lager from Germany.
