pale golden yellow appearance. descent head that dissipates after a little while. No lacing remains.

Smell is sweet and malty, with a slightly metallic tinge to the nose.

Taste is slightly spicey hop bitterness up front, which is nicely unexpected. Definitely some earthiness and grassiness there, almost a very mild tobacco hint in there as well, followed off by a round malt sweetness.

Nicely carbonated, refreshing with a nice bite.

If the metallic notes weren't there I would rate this higher. Not sure what produces that off flavor but it becomes less noticeable after the first few sips.

From the tall boy can in a pint glass. This old classic pours a clear pale yellow
with a nice head of white foam that settles to a thick ring, thin pool, and features
some nice light lacing. Nose of light pilsner malts and subtle grains. Flavors
lightly exceed the nose but not enough to budge the rating with lightly sweet pilsner
malts and light grains with mild hop notes. Nice mouth feel, crisp, clean, and lightly
sweet, Overall a fine brew for after mowing the lawn....or a good one to prime the
pump with.

Cheers

Eveyone speaks to this beer with long descriptions. For those who drink beer as a session option, as well as enjoy the finer beers. I find this beer falls in the Old Standard level. It's not good enough to bring to a party to impress, but it's good enough to enjoy with visitors as a "way better then Coors" I love the fact that it's CHEAP, and not made with rice "Purity Laws". I never get a hangover, and it always go down smooth. Great fishing beer.

Pours a clear crisp effervescent golden straw color. Thick frothy white head dissipates somewhat, but leaves plenty of foam and lacing.

Smell is a bit subdued but notes of bread, a floral almost herbal hop character is noted and a hint of skunk.

Taste follows the nose with a nice balance of bread and cracker malts and pilsner like floral hops. Nice mild bitterness on the finish with some notes of sweetness throughout. Dry finish.

Feel was crisp but the sweetness added a bit of heaviness to the beer. Very drinkable with nice medium carbonation.

Overall a really nice Dortmunder export. Great beer for the price.

Tastes like a budweiser with just a bit more hops going on. A typical macrolager beer. Real thirsty on a hot day after some yard work. This one will be good for that.

500 ml can
Served in a pokal glass

This beer pours a brilliant golden color and is topped with two inches of fluffy, white head that settles to a skim leaving some lacing.

I get some biscuit and bread aroma and not much else.

It has a crisp, clean taste. It doesn't have a lot of flavor, but I can pick up some light grain notes and even a slight bitterness in the finish.

Moderate to thin mouthfeel

This is a super easy drinker. It is clean, and I could drink these all day. It's a very solid German standard.

I've always enjoyed DAB. This is a style that has always appealed to me, and DAB is as good as most other examples. Unimpressive pour, average smell and appearance. Very good, smooth taste, however. Nice malt flavor, but crisp also. A very refreshing, tasty lager (if you don't get skunked). This beer has been somewhat hard to find fresh, and apparently has fallen out of favor. This is unfortunate, because it is one of the more substantial lagers.

impressive for such a basic export lager. looks great with super lacing and a longstanding head...smell is the least impressive with a hint of cereal/rice...at least none of that american adjunct corn smell. the taste is what makes it with a refreshing hint of grain and a lingering, not too dry finish of hops. bittersweet in a most desirable way. rolls on the tongue smooth and luscious enough. not thin. what a bargain! enjoy it quickly though since it camps out in green bottles...

Update....bumped the look nose taste feel & overall up one small notch....this still is a bargain...and like Lord Chesterfield, still in green....!

A nice spicy hoppy smell that had a touch of metallic to it but pretty good.

DABs a light golden coloured brew with a decent head.

A good tasting lager but like many it doesn't really stand out.

Easy to drink with a plesant aftertaste.
I could probably use DAB as a session beer.

Pours a majestic clear golden color topped by a china-white head that dies down to nothing. No lacing.

Nobel hops--grassy and floral--and pale malt fill the modest aroma.

Taste is a biscuity, dry cracker graininess with a tinge of floral bitterness. Slightly sweet underneath. Finishes dry, very clean, with a slight chalk like aspect to it.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp with just the right about of carbonation.

Truthfully I only picked this up because I have yet to try a dortmunder. And, um. Let's just say it didn't exactly make me want to explore the style any further.

Not a bad beer. I have had several samples though that were very skunked, but when I can locate a fresher specimen, it's good to go. Pours out to a straw light yellow color with medium light carbonation. Even fresher samples have a bit of a skunky scent, but not too overwhelming. Straight forward flavors of flat and thin malt, with hints of hops and herbs. Nothing special here, but not terrible. Worth a try. This is probably the Budweiser of German beers.

500 ml can poured into a pint glass.
Abundant foamy head dissipates quickly. Typical Lager pour. Clear yellow appearance. Smooth grainy taste. Light session qualities but flavorful enough to be very enjoyable.
One of the better lagers out there. Loving the Dortmunder style from a mighty fine brewery.

I had distinct expectations when I opened this bottle:a German Heineclone. The skunked smell that came out upon opening the bottle lowered my expectations. It poured a golden color, nice to look at but with no head, just like Heine. However, the taste was better than I expected. It had a hint of honey, and lacked the pronounced bitter flavor that mars Heine, Becks, and Pilsener-Urquell. This beer delivers more than the typical Lager, and I recommend that you give it a try if you find it.

It says "Draft" all over the 16 oz can, bought at Trader Joe's. Pale golden in the tall glass, with a foamy cap and lots of lacing. For some reason this just tastes like corn to me. It has that sweet malt liquor taste, but what saves it is a subtle but distinct flavor of spicy hops. There is finally a bitterish aftertaste, though a metallic edge takes over.

This is quite attractive and beery, but that cheap grainy sweet flavor and the awful medicinal aftertaste take away the pleasure for me. I'd call it the Euro Adjunct Lager, whatever claims they make about the ingredients.

The DAB poured fantastically from the mini-keg; a cloudy golden color, with a thick tight head. The head dissipated quickly but left a nice lace pattern on the glass. The aroma of sweet malty bread over powered any hops that were present. DAB had more mouth than I was expecting, I thought it would be as thin as an American pilsner, but was slightly thicker. I was slightly surprised at the taste, it was sweeter than I thought it would be, and no hop presence at all. The malts dominate, like raw bead dough. The finish leaves a malty after taste. Overall I wasn't too impressed, but it was more than I expected.

16oz. can poured into a nonic.

(A)- Pours a clear yellow color. Produced some white bubbles.

(S)- A sweet smelling dry corn husk with some sugary honey.

(T)- Pretty similar to the smell in every way. A sugary sweet corn husk and honey profile.

(M)- A crisp carbonation level. Very sweet and mild. Thin too.

(D)- Fits the style fairly well. Not much to speak of flavor-wise, but it sure quenches your thirst in the heat.

12 oz green bottle. Poured a clear straw yellow, with a big head that lasts and good lacing on the glass. Aroma has a hint of malt and little else. High carbonation, but very little in the way of taste, other than a bitter after taste in the finish. Would be a good session beer. But I wouldn't be the one drinking it.

A very nice lager that is said to be Dortmunder, but seemed almost Pilsenerish with some nice spicy hop bite. The golden body had a short-lived white head and minimal lace. The nose was malty with some light hops noted. Clean crisp feel from the tasty brew and very drinkable. A good session lager.
