This was poured from the bottle into a pilsner flute.

A - very clear golden straw color with a thick head that settles but leaves nice chunky foam with a small collar - leaves a decent lacing

S - clean malt & hop balanced nicely with just a hint of being light struck from sitting on the shelf...but it doesn't diminish it too much

T - strong malt balance nicely with the hops, nice hop finish, somewhat subtly grainy

M - light to medium body with moderate carbonation

D - good session beer, too bad it has to come all the way from Dortmund - much fresher at the source instead of sitting on a shelf for who-knows-how long

This beer appears to be somewhat of a hybird. Too malty and not quite bitter enough for a true Pils, but not quite full enough to qualify as an Export or Helles.

This is a typically brilliant pale German lager. It sported a nice compact head that dissolved rather quickly. The malts came through enough in the aroma even though the hops displayed a somewhat musty back aroma. The taste profile had a solid malty fullness that one would expect in a German Export, but the bittering hops again came through rather dull or a bit astringent. Not sure what to say about other than it detracts from the taste. The finish was clean and dry.

I was sort of expecting the Classic Dortumder Export, but I was disappointed to find that DAB considers this a Pils. If one wishes to drink to true North German Pils avoid this one. Overall, this isn't a bad beer, but I expected more from DAB

a - Nice head, thick and foamy. leaves reasonable lacing on my pilsner glass. Pale gold/straw colour very clear with moderate sized bubbles.

s - faint. some malt sweetness but not much else. Very bland.

t - reasonable malt body, a little sweet up from. very crisp and refreshing but little hop bitterness to balance out. Some chemical bite in after taste. Very boring hop profile and in the end rather uninspired flavours.

m - thin and watery, goes down well. carbonation a little high but OK.

d - easy enough to drink. slight chemical or cheap hop flavour is a little sharp on the tongue. Could knock back a few but not alot.

Poured from a 12 oz. green bottle into a mug.
A: Strawy gold color. Medium to high amount of carbonation visible. One inch of frothy head that recedes to a creamy layer atop the beer. Frothy lacing near the top, less later on.
S: Grainy with hints of wheatiness. Tiny amount of some sort of floral hop, and a generally unsweetened maltiness.
T: Tingly and with mild bitterness at first. Smooth malts show up in the middle, but not too sugary. Bready and yeasty finish, with something like bananas or soft fruit in the finish.
M: Calm and fresh. Dryish finish.
D: Pretty good. Not all that challening on the palate.
Overall, a pretty solid example of the style. It seems to avoid the odd harshness/bitterness of taste that other pilseners almost seem to emphasize. An all around mild, but intriguing taste and feel.

Very clear, light golden colour with a white frothy head that settled to a few streams of bubbles and a perimeter ring. Lively carbonation on opening did not last. Smell of wet grass, lemon and then a bit skunky. Some hoppy aroma, dry and refreshing, a bit tart. Mouthfeel and aftertaste again very dry. This is a straightforward, clean and easy drinking pilsener with nothing too complex going on.

A - Poured a very bright golden yellow with a huge head. I mean it was really hard to get this one to pour, it was all head. Once it settled it left a nice ring on top of lace and on the sides. But it was essentially a fizzy yellow lager, pretty average.

S - Aroma was light, weak would be a better word and rather no descript. It had a light grain aroma mixed with some rice maybe, but that was about it. Nothing too notable here to speak of.

T - Classic german pilsner. Very light and easy to drink. Some nice grain tones, a little bit of rice, but that was about it. Nothing spectacular, but the taste was a good drinker. Crisp, clean, nothing lingering or biting. A classic beer.

M - Smooth, crisp, clean finish, great carbonation, light on the palate. Very good overall.

D - Fanatastic, you could drink this one all night probably, and we did. Never filled you up or made a bad sip.

Overall a classic german drinker. This was the beer you drank all night long and loved it. Had about 8 glasses and it just did not get old. Loved this one. Truly a classic in its own right, gotta love it

I tried this beer on August 17, 2007 at 'Smokeless Joe' in Toronto. The beer poured a gold translucent colour into official DAB glasswear. The head was white and thin. The aroma was mild and slightly hoppy. The mouthfeel was mild, with medium carbonation. The flavour was sharp, malty with citrusy tones.

Purchased as part of a mixed 6Pack at Wilbur's Liquors in Ft Collins.

It pours from 12oz bottle a clear medium gold with a medium sized head of foam that shrinks to a fine broken layer after a couple of minutes and it has some lacing.

The smell is really faint. I *just* get a bit of hops and that's about it.

The taste is better than the nose would indicate. I get some good malt graininess on the first sip followed by a pleasant lemon hop character about midway through and it lasts right through to the finish which is crisp and dry. Quite a refreshing Pilsner. Nothing fancy, just plain good.

A - Crystal clear light golden colour with busy carbonation. Big fluffy white head from a hard pour.
S - Bit of biscuity malt and some slight spice. Just like any other german pils/euro lager.
T - Along the same lines as the smell.
M - Smooth medium mouthfeel with fairly high carbonation.
D - A drinkable beer but nothing interesting about it. Yet another bog standard german pils.

Pours that good old straw gold. A little deeper than average. I like that. But alas, only a fleeting head with a small foamy film after the initial pour. Sparse and lethargic bubbling as well. The aroma is the pretty standard dry mlat with hints of grass and dry, clean hops. The taste is a little too dry, with a slight funny aftertaste, not adjuncty though. The mouthfeel is a little smooth, but still a little off on the finish. Like I was chewing fresh cut grass or something.

I poured this beer into a tumbler at 50 degrees. The beer poured a big white foamy head and had good lacing. The color was a nice golden straw color. This beer was very refreshing and had a very crisp clean taste. A very good hot weather beer. Iwill buy again.

Pouring a light gold and initially sustaining a white frothy head that laces just a little.
The smell is lagerish and very middle of the road.
there is a reasonable degree of bitterness to finish the drink which follows a bland malt backbone.
it seems to be well balanced and well crafted but very conservative.
Certainly drinkable but unexciting

This is the first beer I've had from DAB and it's fairly refreshing. Very light body, fairly hoppy, but generally mild. A nice balance between flavor and refreshing qualities. This is a good choice for someone looking for a lighter bodied beer.

Overall, it's certainly not bad, but I don't think I'd get it again.

Hopefully this offering is better than its Henninger neighbor. Another beer traveler's sample, let's get on to the beer:

Blonde in color with a soapy head that holds. Sweet and bitter flavors run together with underlaying hay and grass, with a touch of lemon zest. Light crispness adds to this being a pretty solid offering.

Picked up a single at the NSLC, never had before.

Appearance: Pours a pale golden colour with a huge hone white cap. Great retention, leaves some lace crawling up the side of the glass.

Aroma: Lots of freshly cut grass, truly its dominant aroma. Solid grainy malts with light floral hops.

Taste: Floral and grassy. Malty with a moderate bittern finish. Crisp and clean tasting.

Mouthfeel: Light carbonation, soft. High drinkability.

Final Statement: This was a wonderful surprise. I was expecting a poorly done big company brew, but this one was well put together for a mass produced beer, perfect for a nice summer evening. I'll buy this one again.

Im not too sure if this is a pilsner, i thought it was a dortmunder lager.

Anyhow, 500ml can, served in a standard pint glass. Bought on the sunny island of Tenerife.

A - Lager gold hue, minimal head, 3 fingers after aggressive pour but reduces quickly to a crown, Some good brussels lacing.

S - Fresh grassyness, lots of hops, and some faint bready malts, i m sure i can even smell some really fresh water??

T - Very clean and crisp, lots of hop bite up front, fades to reveal some bready malt, finishes smoothly and expected dryness. very refreshing

M - High carbonation, crisp

D - I found this a more that adequate thirst quencher, very pleasant and cheap. Sessionable enough lager, although nothing remarkly, just very solid.

Very much like Heineken mass-brew. Also in a green bottle, and mine was also modestly skunked, although I've tried to keep that matter from affecting my review or ratings.

A= just nothing exciting-- ginger ale.

S= carbonation with hints of macrobeer.

T= underwhelming to say the least. Slight bitter-sour taste. Less fun than Listerine and tonic-water.

M= similar to the after-effect of a glass of Alka-Seltzer, except more sour.

D= depending on how well one's stomach tolerates macro-blah beer, it's your choice.

A: Clear, yellowish, macrobrew look.
S: Very sweat, malty. Outside when drinking, so maybe the grass flavors were not from the beer - but not so sure..
T: Malts, some hops. Nothing spectacular, but good none-the-less. No bitterness.
M: Average

Good, easy to drink, but unremarkable. I won't remember this beer.

Green 660ml bottle.

The 4th beer in my 'Night of the Lagers'.

Poured into a Veltins tulip glass.

Lovelly white head on top of a golden yellow body.

Normal lager type aroma, straw and hops, but nothing too strong.

One of the better German Pilsners in my opinion, crisp, dry and fresh tasting.

Welp, the ol’ green bottle poured a crystal clean straw yellow, topped with a small white head that laid like a rug.

Ton’s o’ euro skunk and cooked veggies in the aroma. You have to let this settle a bit before quaffing. BUT, once you do, not a bad german pils. Sharp malts and a bit of toasty bisquit. Just a bit of that off hop quirky euro taste. Crisp, dry and a nice hop finish.

I would have more of these, a good drinkin’ beer.

Pale straw-colour with a firm long-lasting head. Effervescence is unremarkable. Smells of sweet malt, grass and a hint of bread. Tastes of hay/grass and malt. Mouthfeel is average. This beer has all the characteristics a typical eurolager. It came in a 660 ml bottle which was a good size. Very pleasant for a mass-produced beer.

Gorgeous appearance. Pale straw color and excellent clarity. Big white tight-bubbled head. Creamy and long lasting.

Nice mix of malt and especially noble hops in the aroma.

Flavor highlights the noble hops, but on top of a solid malt background. Finsihes fairly dry with a bit of a coarse (dirt-like) flavor.

Medium body and moderately high carbonation. No astringency - smooth.

Nice lager that is a great showcase for noble hops.

DAB Original
Appearance: The beer initially pours very clear golden straw colored with a lasting creamy white head. There aren’t a whole lot of bubbles rising to maintain the head, but it sticks around for a few minutes anyway. This is a bit unusual, and indicates that this beer is not a light as it appears. There is some pretty significant lacing left on the glass after drinking.

Aroma: I initially get a tad of skunkyness which is a shame. There is a significant malty backbone to this beer that gives a sweet and almost honey-like aroma to it. The sweetness is the dominant component to the aroma, but there are noticeable floral hops to give it a dessert like quality. I do get a bit of a chalky aroma in here that is more noticeable as the beer sits for a while.

Taste: The flavor is not disappointing. It has plenty of body and mouthfeel to make the beer rather soothing as it crosses the palate. It is not a dry refresher, but a light colored substantial beer. The beer is really well balanced for the most of the entire profile, and in fact it is even a bit deceiving in the finish. You think that the malt is going to lead you through into the finish, but then there is a wave of bittering hops that set in rather late and give a pretty substantial dryness to linger on the back of the throat for some time.

Opinion: This is a really good beer, and would probably be a really good one for someone who is apprehensive about craft beer to try. It looks like a BudMilloors to the eye, but the palate tells a different story. It is also very well balanced so a novice drinker can’t pick out any one thing to dwell on. This is a nice beer, and if it was available in my area, I would probably drink it quite a bit.

Clear light-golden body. White head. Slightly better than average retention and lacing. The nose offers a dull malt and dull hops. The flavor is very rounded though, with a malt that's straw-like, hops that are soft and grassy, and a firm bitterness. Very drinkable, but unexciting.
