I think that I was expecting a little more. A little more what...I don't know. Poured a straw gold colour with a small white head. Light.. no..very light malt nose. I found DAB to be reasonably bitter and surprisingly dry. Not the best I have tasted, but , not the worst. It reminds me a bit of some Aussie Lagers. (It's cheap so I will likely drink it again)

I've always enjoyed DAB. This is a style that has always appealed to me, and DAB is as good as most other examples. Unimpressive pour, average smell and appearance. Very good, smooth taste, however. Nice malt flavor, but crisp also. A very refreshing, tasty lager (if you don't get skunked). This beer has been somewhat hard to find fresh, and apparently has fallen out of favor. This is unfortunate, because it is one of the more substantial lagers.

Appearance: 500ml can. Poured a clear golden with a medium head. The head faded fast. Very little carbonation.

Smell: Mildy hoppy nose. Light hints of bread and yeast. Somewhat floral.

Taste: Enjoyable hoppiness. Nice maltiness gives it balance and body. Hoppy bitterness towarsd the finish and then smoothes out nicely.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and crisp.

Drinkability: A nice pils. I could down this easy drinker frequently. Enjoyable even if the style is not my favorite.

12 oz green bottle. Poured a clear straw yellow, with a big head that lasts and good lacing on the glass. Aroma has a hint of malt and little else. High carbonation, but very little in the way of taste, other than a bitter after taste in the finish. Would be a good session beer. But I wouldn't be the one drinking it.

Having this out of the bottle, and it's not bad.

Bright dark yellow, full bready smell. Head settled down right after pouring.

This has what I need in a pilsner: carbonation, crispness, slight sweet bready aftertaste. No mega-hops, just crispy sweetness.

Goes down good on a hot summers day. Will buy and drink again, no question. pat

12 oz green bottle with no freshness date, there is some odd code on the back label but that means nothing to me.

Appearance: Very pale yellowish golden colour, filtered clarity for sure. The thick and foamy white head sticks to the glass quite well.

Smell: The malt in the aroma is as faded as those acid washed jeans I had in the 80’s … weird muted hop in the nose as well.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Such a boring palate of pale pilsner malt, nice crispness and it really adds to the refreshing quality. The malt comes and goes with a clean flavour … again it is boring. Even worse is the hop bitterness which is like a knife without a sharp edge … dull with no flavour.

Notes: Two words “Hop Extract”. I have had better from this brewery, this beer is too processed and has no natural feel to it … a sad state from the last time that I tried it which must have been at least five years ago. Lastly … it tastes sterile.

Came in a white 500ml can with a freshness stamp on the bottom. Pours out a pale gold, small white head that recedes fairly quickly, not a heck of a lot of carbonation to be detected except for the odd bubble. Smells sweetish, faint metallic note, some clover honey and....apple juice. Flavour is average, carries that metallic tinge, nothing special at all, but an okay thirst quencher for a hot day. Still, I think I'd even prefer a Molson to one of these, especially regarding the price. Whoa, did I just say that out loud?!

Crisp and lightly hopped. Appearance is that of a lighter beer, but you soon know this is not a beer to be evaluated on looks alone. The hops show through into the aroma and taste, but does not have an overbearing hop presence. Pours with a beautiful long lasting head. This is a reasonably priced, well defining German lager.

--Poured a natural, pilsener color. Smell was nothing greater than average.
--This beer poured with a nice thich head that lowered but a slight head in the end.
--This beer was nothing but average. It had a nice european taste but I have had beers that are much better.

Pours with a pure white head that settles out over golden-straw colored liquid. Snappy clean maltiness in the nose with some hop & sweetness notes too. Taste is clean, a bit of metallic hoppiness..very crisp and undemanding on the palate. Finishes more dry than anything. A nice Summer thirst-quencher/lawnmower Lager.

A nice spicy hoppy smell that had a touch of metallic to it but pretty good.

DABs a light golden coloured brew with a decent head.

A good tasting lager but like many it doesn't really stand out.

Easy to drink with a plesant aftertaste.
I could probably use DAB as a session beer.

Really pleasant aromas of honey, toasted grain and freshly fired bricks. Clay, hay and sweet, ripe seeds. M.
The flavor profile is demurly sweet with bright floral extracts at the service of clear, dry mineral and hop structure.
Clean. Refreshing. Complex for a lighter beer.

Brilliantly clear straw colored pour with good effervescence and a finger's worth of bright white foam. Head doesn't last long but leaves a little lace. Clean but simple grain essences dominate the smell. Taste is sweet and malty up front and slowly dries out as the hops powers up. This beer doesn't get particularly interesting, but it's certainly drinkable. For one of the green-bottled clan, it's actually quite decent.

Generous sticky white head sat on top of the clear, slightly-darker-than-straw colored lager. Hay and some sweetness give this beer a fairly simple aroma. Grainy flavored beer with some faint pale malt sweetness. Slight astringency plays off the touch of bitterness and hop flavor for a sort of 3-D hop experience. [Note: this would be considered an overly hoppy beer by anyone’s standards] Finishes pretty dry. Nice creamy mouthfeel and medium body make this one fine beer to have in your mouth

Bright yellow body. Sometimes I forget beer can be this color. Nice sized foamy white head. Some inviting lacing. Lot of hay, fresh grass in the nose, with a tiny hint of skunk lurking at the edges. I mean, it's not skunked, but you can sense how it easily could change. Taste is made up of a very clean malt topped off by a surprising hop bite. Very refreshing. An ok, straight forward beer, fine for summer quenching. (Yeah I know it's Christmas. My cousin left it at Thanksgiving).

When I opened the bottle and before I poured it I could smell the nice smell of German hops. In fact it was a bit decreased after pouring. A bit of a sweet water aroma too (as with N/A beers). Medium full white head, that dissipated fairly quickly, and light golden color. Well balanced beer with light sweetness in middle, and dryness on the finish, but nothing excessive or dominating. Fairly clean overall with a slight metalic taste noted at times. Medium to light mouthfeel, and slightly flatter carbonation for a lager. A little thin overall. A bit of off taste with metalic quality. But this will do better for summer beer or possibly a session beer than many.

Poured a clear golden with a white foamy head. Aroma consisted primarily of hops. Mouthfeel is thin bodied. Middle has a feint lemony tang. Finish is crisp with a clean hop taste to it. The first time I had this beer was at a German bar/restaurant called the Essen Haus in Madison, WI. We drained several glass boots of this.

Clear golden bodied. Fluffy white head. Good retention.
Bready and slightly sweet malts on the nose, along with a slight hop bite.
Starts on the bready side. Standard white bread, no frills. Grainy underbelly. Turns sweeter midway. Carmel-ish, though saying a carmel flavor is present would be stretching it. Finishes with a tempered German hop kick.
Light-medium bodied.
Simple, decent.

It is hard to find true Dortmunder-style lagers in the US. Considered a "working man's beer" in Germany they are also falling out of favor in Germany to the more elitist pils!

DAB Original is true to its roots: a full-bodied lager that pours a clear golden color with a "soapy" white head. The aroma of my sample has shades of green bottle skunk, but not overwhelming like Beck's or Heineken. More hops are apparent as the beer warms: perhaps Spalt? The taste is defined by a mineral "heft" from the Dortmunder water which is high in sulfates. Many drinkers think this harshness is from a spoiled beer, but it is the result of the water not the brewer. As the beer warms its maltier base becomes apparent, but the "saltiness" lingers from the water. Overall a very thirst-quenching and true-to-style beer, that suffers only because the brewery or its importer decided to put it in a green bottle.

"Appearance"? Don't all these bottom-fermented pilsners look the same? ;-)

Nice and pils-y. One of my favourite patio-quaffing brews. Very refreshing, but in the end, fairly forgettable.

I purchased it in a four-can gift pack that came with a DAB Original "special glass". Each of the four beers was recommended for a different glass! As if.

Dab Original: A traditional German beer, nothing unexpected, not overwhelming, in fact the taste might be perfect to start to draw your macro swigging friends over to the fine side. Golden yellow beer with a pure white head, 3/4 of an inch ovr the rim! Taste: hops (although not much) malt (same). In other words, nicely balanced, refreshing, not too much, but then again, not enough.

This brewery’s version of an export-style is a little pale and sweet for the style. This beer has a medium deep gold color, with a lightly hopped nose and heavy body. As an export style should be, this beer stays dry throughout and the bitterness arrives at the very end and almost clashes with the sweet character.

This was surprisingly good and inexpensive. Substantial malt presence, this beer has a real backbone and full flavor. Hops are strong and quite zesty but kept perfectly in check. Very drinkable; I could imagine spending a happy evening with this brew. Green bottle and travel distance are only drawbacks, and the odor wasn't wonderful. Still, I wish this was more readily available. The price was right (I think I payed $6 a sixer?). Heineken, Becks, and Amstel drinkers would especially enjoy this; it is far superior to those widespread and offensive beers.
