look: 3 | smell: 4 | taste: 3 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

A - pours a very couldy, hazy straw yellow with not too much of a head

S - lemon and citrus with some nice banana and a touch of clove

T - the taste follows the nose pretty closely. It starts with a nice banana flavor, which is the predominant taste throughout. The banana blends with spices and a bit of clove, but not as much as the nose suggested would be in there. Nice weissbier flavors going on in here.

M - the mouth is nicely carbonated and medium bodied. Pretty solid.

D - This is a nice example of a Weissier. This is my first Austrian example, but it closely follows its neighbor's taste characteristics. I took down the bomber on a hot, sticky afternoon so the drinkability was outstanding in my book. This hit the spot.

Beer of the month selection
Poured a cloudy straw yellow with a white fluffy head dissipated into a ring.
Aroma of malt, spice and lemon.
Taste of wheat, yeast with some spice ending with a hint of lemon.
Light body, moderate carbonation and very creamy.
A drinkable beer, however, it is a little sweeter than most Hefeweizens that I enjoy.

I received this beer as a part of a beer of the month club. I don't normally like wheat beers all that much, but this is one great beer.

This beer pours with a creamy white head that is about one finger wide, and it disappears quickly. The beer has a straw color and is hazy like most wheat beers.

The aroma has hints of bananas and cloves with a bit of lemon.

The initial taste is wheat, wheat, and more wheat, but the taste of bananas and cloves are very noticible. This is followed by a full wheat flavor and has a good deal of spicyness. The thing that makes this beer so good is how well all of the flavors are balanced. It finishes with (you guessed it) wheat, but a nice hint of lemon as well.

The body of the beer is very light and dry. Perfect for summer! I would reccomend it to anyone whether you like wheat beers or not.

Poured a cloudy gold with good head and had a decent citric smell with hints of spice. Light and smooth, had a lil bit of spice and lemon zest, along with citric hops in the taste but was rather just average in the taste dept. Went down easy and is a good summer beer but nothing exceptional.

A - cloudy, straw color with a decent head and okay retention

S - clovey yeast phenols and wheat malt mainly with a touch of yeasty banana

T - sweet wheat malt with clovey yeast and a somewhat crisp hop on the finish, wheat tang is evident, banana character is somewhat subdued as the clove is the dominant yeast flavor

M - medium to light body, creamy, moderate carbonation

D - This is an okay example of a Weizen. It's certainly not the best I've had, but still very good. I have a feeling this would be much better closer to the source - perhaps even outstanding.

Twelve ounce bottle from the BOMC poured into a German Wiehenstephan glass.

A: Cloudy murky yellow (lots of yeast action), creamy head and lots of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass.

S: Some musky hay and grass aromas.

T: Lemony flavor up front, with hay, grass and wheat notes. Not picking up any banana yeast flavors that I would normally expect for this style, although there's certainly a bit of spiciness.

M: Creamy, well carbonated, and light bodied. Beer finishes with more lemony flavor than anything else.

D: Brewery has been around for 300 years plus, so I guess they know what they are doing, but this beer had just a little too much sweet lemony flavor for me. I enjoyed their Pils much more than this selection.

Just finished off a nine mile run....err jog...and nothing replenishes like a good hefe and this is a good hefe.

Excellent banana characteristics on the nose...mashed bananas...banana pudding..

The taste takes on more of a banana bread type of flavor...yeasty...bready...bananany...also some cloves on the taste and a spritz of lemon....almost exactly how I like my hefe's to taste.

Not a bundle of carbonation...more creamy textured...

Great Hefe...Made is Austria but as good as most german Hefe's...

Poured into a tumbler after shaking up the sediment it produces a thick white head that produces a lot of lacing. The appearance is light amber/orange and milky. The aroma is of pears, bananas, bread, cinnamon, cloves, and the taste follows accordingly. The feel is smooth and full bodied with a clean finish.

One of the more hefe of hefeweizen I've tried, it's a nice example of the style.

A - Pours a super cloudy milky orange color. It reminds my of dark grapefruit juice.

S - Sweet banana bread, clove, lemon

T - Sweet banana off the top followed by sour bubblegum, spicy wheat, then a tangy citrus finished it off.

M - Watery at first but quickly turns to a sort of velvety feel.

D - Pretty solid beer. I could drink a couple of these on a hot day or any day. Probably too sweet for more than a few.

My beer does not say Jörger on it but it appears to be the same.

A - The cloudiness of this thing is unreal. It is already hazy in the bottle. Pours a very hazy bright yellow color with a large crowning white head.

S - Banana, yeast, clove, bubblegum, and freshly baked bread.

T - This beer follows the nose to the T. The taste is full of banana and clove followed by a nice dollop of yeast. They are not reinventing the wheel here, but I am also not expecting them to. Very nice for the style.

M - Light and crisp.

D - I could drink more than a few of these on a warm day.

A hefe on a beautiful spring day, this review is set up for maximum success...

Pours an effervescent & semi-hazed straw color with 4 fingers of cream colored head. Hazes even more as the bottle is drained, above average lacing & head retention

S: Breadyness, bubblegum, & cloves

T: Follows the nose, plus lemons & appleskins up front. Juicy, bready & grainy as this warms along with more apple peels & cloves. Finishes grainy, bready & fruitty, with a nice juicy fruit twang

MF: Medium bodied, bubbly & slightly grainy & juicy

Drinkability is great, a nice quencher that hits all the right hefe notes

A: Nice looking pour, golden with great head that laces glass and retains nicely.

S: Not the strongest example of a hefe with its smell. You get the citrus and earthy tones.

T: Same as scent. Good, but not the best example. Has nice citrus and wheat tastes.

M: Flows down nicely with good carbonation. Good aftertaste as well.

D: For the price this is a solid Hefe when comparing it to a beer like Blue Moon. This does not compete with the great Hefes though.

This is one of the cloudiest beers I've ever seen. It looks cloudy through the bottle. Upon pouring it shows a hazy gold/hay color with aromas and tastes like- lemon, banana, clove, and wheat. Reminds me of Boulevard Wheat in a big way. It's clean and refreshing, but doesn't represent a top example of the style. Worth the price on a hot day.

This beer is extremely carbonated and frothy. The body is cloudy brass color when first poured but settles to a bit more transparent gold color. There are lots of little carbonation bubbles to the body. The aroma was great. A lot of citrus tones with maybe just a hint of banana and clove. The mouthfeel is light and thin and very refreshing. The flavor has very strong lemon esters followed by the usual wheat beer flavors. This is an excellent summer beer.

poured from 500ml bottle into a standard weizen.

Cloudy hay color. 2 finger bubbly white head. Settles fairly quickly leaving a half finger layer of bubbly carbonation on the surface. pretty substantial beer ring lacing.

subtle hay and wheat, with just a touch of lemon and orange.

really pristine, subtle wheat. nothing overwhelming, but very balanced and flavorful. a steely citrus.

light, clean, body. very light subdued lemon citrus aftertaste.

great beer to drink through. you'll finish it before you want.

great atmosphere. appearance is characteristic for the style, but a good representative specimen. Nose is subtle, but pleasing. Flavor, the same.... light but well done. it's kinda' what you think a wheat should taste like, without some of the distractions you find in some. overall, this is a great quaff.

broad shouldered 500ml

Milky white in the bottle before the pour, a slightly chill hazed glowing presence about it, very cool to look at. Pours the much expected cloudy pale yellow color with a large creamy white head. Nose of banana, spice and toasty wheat. Clean and refreshing and thankfully so since i had this beer at about 10:30 this morning. A hoppy change of pace amongst weisse beers, a subtle blast of bitterness late in the quaff. Smooth, round and well balanced. An under rated brew, cheap enough to encourage a seek out.

Presentation: Poured into a tulip glass from a 1 pint+0.9 fl oz. brown bottle with a production number 01 08 00 L11

A: Cloudy golden yellow with minimal white head and almost no lacing.

S: Cloves and mild banana.

T&M: Spices are prominent. Nice texture and balance. Very mild sweet malt taste and minimal hop bitterness at the finish.

Very good beer. NOTE: better taste when you do NOT stir up the bottle conditioning. The first half bottle tasted better, then I poured the balance after agitating the sediment and most of the flavor went away.
I should have picked up more for only $1/bottle on a clearance rack.

Pours hazy golden orange with a modest white creamy head. No spectacular billowing hefe foam here. Aroma is rather citrusy with accents of banana and spices. Flavor is like a sweet hefe mixed with a splash of Sprite. Lemon lime tartness, banana pith, orange oil. The lime note is off-putting and doesn't fit at all. Mouthfeel is a little thin.

A: Light yellow in color with a slight haze. Pours with a huge foamy head that quickly reduces to nothing, not even a slight surface coating. No lacing.

S: Some light biscuit malt and faint banana. Not much going on here.

T: Light malt and some light banana flavors, though the banana becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. Also a little sweet (honey) and sour (lemon) interplay. Interesting, but thankfully the flavors are on the softer side.

M: Thin with medium carbonation.

D: A decent hefeweizen, on the lighter side for the style, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Beer does show more character as it warms.

Appearance: Nice strong gold/brass coloring with an impressive head that lasts for a while. Minimal beligian lacing after the head dissapates.

Aroma: A bit of a banana smell, followed by a strong, nearly skunky odor. Not pleasant.

Taste: A hit of bitterness right up front followed quickly by the banana again on the taste buds, with the finale of heavy wheat and barley. Pretty nice, and not what I expected after the aroma.

Mouthfeel: Average. PLays nice on the palate, without being too zippy nor too weak.

Drinkability: Do not be dissuaded by the awful aroma, the beer's bite is better than it's bark.

A- 16oz bottle poured into a wheat glass. Beer pours golden, with a 1-finger head which quickly settles to nearly nothing. No lacing to speak of.

S- Classic hefeweizen aroma, complete with bananas, clove, and underlying sweetness.

T- Good hefeweizen taste, bananas and clove present. I can't help but feel, though, that this beer tastes a little watered down. It may just be because it doesn't have the same crisp finish as other hefeweizens.

M- Thin, and not very well carbonated.

D- A subtle flavor profile and low abv make this a very sessionable brew, especially considering that I got it for 1.49/16oz at the local Whole Foods.

Poured a medium honey color with no head or lacing to be found.

Smelled of honey and the slightest hint of citrus.

Tasted very sweet. Honey, along with one of my least favorite attributes in a beer, butter. Not very pleasant.

Mouthfeel was very flat. Medium bodied and smooth, but very very flat. No carbonation to be found.

All in all this is a beer I'd never care to see again. Really an unimpressive brew.

Poured this one in a Weisen glass, it poured a slightly hazy hay/light honey color with a thick dense head that faded surprisingly fast and left a nice thin white line. The smell was very nice, yeasty, hay and a slight lemon tone. The flavor follows the nose with bready/grainy flavors and hints of banana and lemon. Medium bodied w/excellent carbonation. Very drnkable brew.

A: Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. Had a yellowish-brown color and a cloudy consistency. A decent amount of sediment. Not as much head or lacing as you might find with other beers of the style.

S: Smelled of wheat, banana and that bubble gum quality.

T: Like the smell, taste consisted of wheat, banana and bubble in the finish. Good, but not great.

M: Pretty well carbonated beer with a very dry finish. Medium-bodied.

D: While this is a solid beer, it doesn't distinguish itself from other hefeweizens. Still, a drinkable beer.

Not a style I go to often but for something to put down after work with a little substance this does the trick. My first Austrian weisse beer that I have had to my knowledge, this pours into a large weisse/weizen glass a mix of lemonade and tea with a smaller than expected head that was gone quite quickly. As others have noted lemon is the dominant aroma with some iron and slight clove as well.Flavors are somewhat clean for the style but damn refreshing, lemony with underlying clove and a hint of vanilla but its light on the palate. Now if this was the middle of July here in NC instead of October this would be a helluva backyard beer,as is its a nice thirst quencher.
