Best by date: 5/14/15

Pours black with a thin but frothy tan head. Head dissipates quickly.
Smells of coffee, milk chocolate, and oatmeal.
Taste follows the nose; mostly coffee and chocolate notes, slightly sweet, slight hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel is exceptional; smooth and creamy, finishing with a gentle chalkiness. Hardly any heat.
I look forward to this beer every year. It is one of my favorites.

A: Pours a nearly opaque black color. A bit of ruby/brown highlights around the edges. At first a small bubbly tan head forms, but continues to rise, which eventually builds to about two fingers. Excellent retention, and lace.
S: Roasted malt, coffee, and big dark chocolate aromas. A liquorish aroma in the nose as well.
T: Typical roasted malt and coffee that are in most stouts. Some liquorish, and that big dark bakers chocolate is excellent.
M/D: A full body and moderate carbonation. A bit on the resinous side, but overall so smooth. A perfect warming and enjoyable stout. Incredibly easy to drink for the size.

Like everything else from Great Lakes, this is top shelf stuff. One of my favorite breweries, and a typically excellent offering.
