Appearance: Deep amber brown tan full head leaves scattered lacing. Aroma: Soft dark roasted malts but relatively clean aromatics with some German hops peeking through, dead on for a black pils. Taste: Perfect balance slight fruity edge, slight bitter herbal hops nice session brew. Mouthfeel: Medium to light body slightly creamy edge very nice. Drinkability: Excellent brew well made perfect for the style guidelines of this brew very enjoyable yet mild.

Another on-tap only "pub exclusive" only available at the GLBC. Served in a pint glass, this beer draws a clear dark brown color with some deep ruby highlights when held up to the light. Has a slightly off-white head about an inch thick when first serves to me that settles to a thin ring lining he inside of the glass along with very nice lacing. Aromas of roasted caramel malt sweetness along with a a slight touch of hops. The taste is pretty much the same, with a nice roasted caramel sweetness that gives way to a slight hop presence. Nor a complex flavor profile, and that is okay as it is spot on for the style. Has a crisp, smooth light to medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Easy to drink in the manner it should be.

Served in a pint at Great Lakes tap room. The color was black, with a wispy white head. The smell was a nice strong roastiness. The taste was very nicely coffee roasted malt, with the clean lager finish. Mouthfeel was average. As for drinkability, this is one that I could have several of.
If I hadn't had the Black Ocean right before I went, this could well be my favorite schwarzbier. A solid near stout quality makes this one worthwhile and one I'd love to have again.

Deep amber to black with no head to see. Faint roasted malt but very vague. Light taste, slightly hoppy with a light refreshing finish. Smooth on the way down, a nice fluffy mouthfeel. This is the second Schwarzbier I've had so I don't feel qualified to judge the style but all around this is a great dark refreshment.
