look: 4.25 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a dark amber color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of caramel malts, some hops. Taste is balanced malts and hops, caramel, light pine, alcohol is well hidden. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but I was expecting a little more.

Poured from a bottle to pint glass. Poured a dark red/copper color. A sweet aroma of carmel and hops. Tastes of carmel and piney hops, alcohol was hidden very well for 8%. Very smooth feel with little to no carbonation. A very good beer from Great Lakes Brewing Co.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, strong caramel malt, slight hops, hint of pale malt, hint of alcohol, and a hint of biscuit. Fits the style of an American Amber / Red Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a slight bitterness. Tastes of strong sweet malt, caramel malt, hops, hint of biscuit, hint of pale malt, and slight alcohol. Overall, good blend, body, appearance, and complexity.

One of my favorite styles, and this is a good representative. Poured from a bottle into a snifter. Deep red brown color with a beige head and nice lacing. Caramel smell and taste, nice and malty. Smooth feel. Very nice beer that I have been looking forward to try for some time.

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a clear glass tulip. Best by 111516 on side of label.

A: Burnished dark red/amber with healthy 1-2 finger beige frothy head with good retention and plenty of lacing.

S: Malty with caramel and toffee with piney and resiny hop character

T: Very caramel malt forward up front with burnt caramel, raisin, and a bit of cereal grain but finished deftly with pine, light red grapefruit, and floral hopping. No yeast or alcohol elements. Just excellent flavor composition. Medium bitterness.

M: Creamy and smooth with medium body at most and low-medium carbonation.

O: Exceptional imperial red ale with superb balance and drinkability. Will be seeking this one out yearly from now on.

A- reddish amber in color that is cloudy. A minimal head but decent wavy lacing on the pint.

S- caramel malts with bready and lots of earthiness

F- piney hops with earthy and caramel malts

M- dry bitter hops that fits the red ale style.

O- im not a red ale fan and this is hard to drink...so therefore its a great red ale style!

Strikingly red! A beautiful looking beer, truly outstanding in terms of how this looks, with a nice caramel and bready aroma amongst the blood claret visage. In terms of the mouthfeel, this is a chewy, full one. Fairly smooth. Malt profile overwhelms somewhat. Would have liked more balance but I think for an imperial red ale this lives up to it's promise.

I love the way the bitterness comes in as an aftertaste and just stays for awhile. This beer smells so good, too. I am a fussy person about mouth feel, and this has a creamy flow that is nicely balanced.

A good red. Not quite giving me the imperial vibe, but another solid brew from Great Lakes.
