12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 7/11/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of huge pineapple, apricot, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange peel, light pepper/pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/tropical/citrusy hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge pineapple, apricot, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange peel, light pepper/pine, honey, light caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine/citrus peel/grassy/spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of pineapple, apricot, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange peel, pepper, pine, honey, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical/citrusy hops and bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Zero cloying sweetness. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a delicious DIPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/tropical/citrusy hops and bready malt sweetness; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the balanced bitter/drying finish. Extremely juicy and slightly dank on hops; sizable malt backbone, but never overly sweet/heavy feeling. Reminds me of Lake Erie monster quite a lot; but is more fruity/tropical on hop flavors, and mellower/smoother on bitterness. A very enjoyable offering.

On draft. Beige head.

Midwest double IPA. Malty with some caramel notes followed by floral hops. Earthy, some dankness, some resin, and grapefruit citrus. A bit of alcohol shows in the finish.

Inspired by yesterday's solar eclipse, I embarked on a modest brewery horizontal with GLBC. Sadly, this one marks the end of the line for me, but I will be on the lookout for other GLBC beers to review.

From the bottle: "Beware, drinker! Hop hysteria could happen to you! Especially after indulging in our dry-hopped Double IPA's shockingly intense tropical aromas and hair-raising bitterness."

I Pop!ped the cap with my hophead hands shaking in gleeful anticipation of what was coming. A gentle pour followed by an in-glass swirl raised two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. Color was Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9,< 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was raucous with a pineapple upside-down cake aroma in the middle of a pine forest! Pineapple, caramel, pine/evergreen, mmm. I raised the glass to my parched lips and took a deep draught in my mouth. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but close. The beer went straight to work on my unsuspecting tongue, hitting it with jackhammers, knives, hammers & tongs, just going medieval on it. My sinuses filled with a pine scent & things began to spin. This was a no playin'-around throwdown. Leave this one to the professional hopheads, kids! Finish was dry, slightly bitter & totally satisfying. Whoo!

I bought a 4pck of this from the beer store around the corner. It poured a clear orangish with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of sweet malt mixed with citrus hop. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink for a DIPA...good grapefruit bite that gets smoothed by caramel malt finish. The mouthfeel was fuller with good carbonation. Overall it's another solid offering from Great Lakes.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle on April 30, 2017. Enjoy by 07/12/17. Look is copper gold with a thick slightly off-white head and lingering lacing. Smell and taste is bitter citrus and tropical fruit. Feel is medium in body with a dry finish.

L: pours hazy gold filled with rapidly rising bubbles under a 1" cream colored foam cap with moderate retention

S: smells of citrus, bread crumb, some resin and a trace of ditch weed

T: flavors start mildly sweet with citrus, light fruit, resin, bread crumb, and herb leading to an assertive bitter finish

F: The body and carbonation are medium

O: This big bold Double IPA achieves a nice balance between the malt and hop flavors and the hop bitterness.

Pours clear, copper in color with ½ inch head. Taste is pineapple, pine, caramel, biscuit, and grapefruit. Nice mix of sweet and bitter, medium-heavy bodied, with low carbonation. Makes for a great imperial IPA. The hops seem unique and interesting and there is a great deal of caramel malt. Great beer, great value…All night..Prefer this to Chillwave.
