Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 oz bottle on April 30, 2017. Enjoy by 07/12/17. Look is copper gold with a thick slightly off-white head and lingering lacing. Smell and taste is bitter citrus and tropical fruit. Feel is medium in body with a dry finish.

Aroma is fruit/candy, citrus and creeping pine. The flavor is citrus/fruit, mild candy, grapefruit, malts, very lightly nutty and a bitter/mildly sweet finish.

On tap at Draft Picks - Aurora, IL
A - brilliant amber body with a thin ivory head
S - juicy, tropical, orange and mango with caramel malt
T - orange zest, juicy tropical mango, passion fruit, and grapefruit; grain and caramel for sweetness
M - full bodied, bitter but not overly with a nice amount of residual sweetness; alcohol is well concealed
O - great example of the style using new-age hops.

64 ounce growler
Served in an imperial nonic glass

A - The first thing I notice is how cloudy this beer is. It was the end of a keg, so I probably have more yeast than a normal pour. The color of this beer is on the lighter side of amber. It is capped with three inches of off-white head.

S - The aroma consists of citrus and tropical fruit. There is also some bready malt that balances it.

T - It is surprisingly lacking in flavor. This is the second time I have had it, and the second time I have drawn this conclusion. There is a bitter pine finish that grows as I consume the growler. I am just not getting the citrus or tropical fruits. Hell, the bready malt is even conspicuously missing.

M - Medium to full. The sediment adds to the fullness.

O - I have to admit that this beer is a bit of a letdown. I hold Great Lakes beers in high regard. I think all of their beers are spot on for the style to downright great, aside from Glockenspiel. This beer is not bad. It is just average. I rarely get to try Great Lakes brewery only beers, but this one just left me feeling meh. I would drink Commodore Perry over this beer any day.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip
Best before 7/

A- pours a clear golden color with a one-finger foamy white head that has good retention and leaves some lacing behind

S- citrus fruity hop aroma up front with notes of orange zest & berries, a bit of pine resin, undertones of honey & caramel

T- orange marmalade and grapefruit zest up front, followed by some pine resin and grassy notes. Bitterness remains mid-palate with orange zest and grapefruit pith, clean linger with just a hint of sweet malt

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a semi-dry finish

O- as advertised, a bitter bomb with an emphasis on citrus and pine

Please enjoy by: 07/10/17

Hazy orange with an attractive layer of sticky, soapy bubbles on top. Smell hints at DMS before moving on to pine resin, lemon citrus, and rotting fruit. Green resinous hop bitterness over a sweet, bready malt base. Flowery citrus, spicy pine, peach, and grain. Slick, chewy body finishing somewhat dry. A little heavy and clunky feeling for my tastes.

12 oz bottle poured into a nonic pint.

Appearance
Golden amber. Short white head. Good clarity.

Nose
Dank, catty, weed, peach, passion fruit, earthy, leafy, and apple juicy.

Taste
Earthy, woodsy, and damp grass. Dank, weed, catty, and resinous. Candy sugar maltiness with additions of apple juice.

Mouthfeel
Medium-plus bodied, silky, oily, semi-dry, and moderately bitter.

Overall
Resinous overall with a strange apple juice flavor that I don't really care for. The abv is hidden well.

Pours a copper color with well over a finger of head. The nose has some citrus but more dankness than anything else. The flavor profile is earthy, malty and a touch juicy. The hop bitter finish is fairly aggressive.
