A foggy, dark amber beer puts up two inches of creamy orange sherbert head that is long lived. Thick rings of lace are left behind as the head slowly recedes to a thick blanket. No internal carbonation is visible in the Spiegle IIPA glass.

The aroma is simple with strong herbal hops. Warmth brings out grassy aromas.

Bitterness is up front but subdued when measured against the style. Grass flavors are strong and in equal parts with pine resin. This IPA lacks juicy, fruit qualities. Warmth brings out caramel and grain. The finish is lingering with moderately strong bitterness.

A smooth silky medium body is lifted by fluffy carbonation. Alcohol is controlled as is slight chewiness.

Chillwave is an enjoyable moderate IIPA which would stand up to casual conversation after work. While there is nothing special about this beer it is quietly satisfying.

Pineapple and tropical fruits are prominent, with a light background of sweet malt aroma and alcohol. The flavor packs a solid bitter hit. The brew has a solid medium body and comes off as being moderately dry, which is surprising considering the alcohol content. Solid brew, but left me wanting a little more.

Pours hazy amber/orange into a fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. Two finger off white head that dissipates rapidly to a steady rime. Some really nice lacing.

The nose is complicated. Citrus hops of course but what flavors? I'm getting some sweet pineapple and orange. Ruby red grapefruit is also present. Some sweet smelling caramel malts plus a little bread.

Taste follows the nose except for the upfront grapefruit. Hints again of pineapple and ripe orange. Possibly mango? Touch of sweet caramel malts. Good hop bite at the finish to to balance the above mentioned sweetness.

Feels clean and fresh on the palate. A medium mouthfeel with an excellent level of carbonation.

This is an excellent imperial IPA. Has to rate in the top twenty five. Simple goodness in a bottle.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy yellow to orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light stringy lacing roaming around the glass. The smell had a sweet citrus with a bitter citrus rind and an underscore of caramel malt to balance. The taste was bitter and sweet not necessarily combined but delicate in its composure to lead into the aftertaste to leave a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body. Sessionable - slightly and the alcohol wasn’t felt too much. Bittersweet harshness rolled over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good DIPA that I could have again.

4/26/17 - On tap at the Ardmore Music Hall in Ardmore, PA. 9% so 10 oz. pour served In a very inviting 10 oz. clear plastic cup. Clear dark brown color with carmelish colored head. Good beer, but won't become my go-to DIPA.

Purchased 12 bottles from the bargain bin at .99 a bottle 2 weeks from enjoy by date. Poured refrigerator temp into a 16 ounce IPA glass. Clear amber orange in color with a decent head. Had fair lacing with some residual head throughout the entire glassful. It smelled like a DIPA should with a sweet citrus pine tone to it. The taste was slightly fruity and hoppy without over powering the malt. For a 9% ABV it was pretty enjoyable. The mouthfeel and retention was good with no over the top bitterness and it hid the 9% ABV well enough to not be considered boozy. I found it well balanced and enjoyable.
