Pours hazy copper color with a thick 2 finger foamy light tan head that was full of bubbles and dissipated very, very slowly, leaving excellent foamy lacing and rings as it went down.

Smells of tropical fruit like pineapple, mango, grapefruit, orange, apricot, fresh juicy citrus hops and some nice piney hop resins, which then give way to caramel, toffee, brown sugar, gunny bear candy, graham cracker and biscuit. No real sign of spices as the hoppy sweetness overtakes most of the nose, letting the malty backbone come through as well.

Tastes of tropical fruit like pineapple, guava, clementine, pear, lemon and passion fruit mixed with piney hops, caramel, toasted grains, brown sugar, toffee, a buttered biscuit, French toast bread crust and then a zesty citrus finish. ABV is pretty well hidden and the bitterness is mid-level and likely tamed by the nice malty balance. The second bottle I had confirmed that it was maltier than the first few sips, and while it doesn't finish like a hop-bomb it's still very tasty.

Mouthfeel is buttery smooth and velvety as it slides across the tongue with light carbonation, a medium body that leans towards the chewy side and a nice bitter finish which has a citrus pucker mixed with doughy bread crust and a sweetness which reminds me of maple syrup or brown sugar. Overall a very good DIPA that goes down easier than a 9% ABV brew should which is likely due to the well balanced flavor.

Big, inviting flavour, pulls you in right away. Mosaic is very prominent, lots of stone fruit (melon) and tropical flavours. Malt is fairly strong, a big caramel flavour, but does not steal the show from the hood. Mildly bitter. Nice stuff.

April 2016 - served on tap in Columbus, OH. Pours a rich copper color, covered with a light white foam on top. Scented by a slight pine hop nose, floral too. Heavy hearty bitter open. Weighty mouthfeel, a beer of substance. Resins galore. Lighter blend, but the taste and feel is thick. Drinkable DIPA, but it hits you.

Picked up a single bottle at The Malt Shoppe in Milwaukee. The bottling stamp asserts that this one is just about at the end of its shelf life. Poured right from the fridge into a tulip glass.

L: Pours a deep orange blossom honey, slightly cloudy, with about an inch-and-a-half of off-white head that sticks around for a good long while, falls to a thick film and ring, and leaves substantial lacing on the glass. Lots of tiny, quick visible carbonation present.

S: Lots of juicy fruit notes in this big bouquet: orange, grapefruit, melon, mango, and pineapple are all present. There's also a touch of grassy and herbal hop quality. There are underlying bready and caramel malts . Perhaps the slightest bit of clear alcohol is also present.

T: There are sweeter caramel and bready malt notes right out of the gate, and these are immediately joined by an onrush of ripe fruit flavors. Orange, melon, and mango are the most easily discernible, though I'm also getting some stone fruit and pineapple. The middle sees these fruit flavors swelling, with the addition of a bit of grassiness, herbal notes, and some warming alcohol. The malts help to keep things in balance. The back end brings on a bit of grapefruit rind bitter and some more of that warming alcohol in nice balance with the malts. Overall, this one brings a lot of big flavor without losing itself.

F: Medium-bodied and very well-carbonated. This one is smooth, creamy, and slightly bitter without feeling syrupy or overtly oily. Lively and engaging on the palate.

O: I am quite impressed with this DIPA from Great Lakes--and this is with a bottle near the end of its run. I'd really like to get my hands on a fresher bottle, but I'll probably have to wait a few months. I can't recall having a DIPA with this fresh and juicy a fruit hop profile--the nose and the taste bring some serious flavor. My only beef is that there is a bit of lingering booziness at the close of this one: I was getting some definite clear alcohol in the aftertaste of some of my sips. But, overall, this is a very tasty brew that I highly recommend giving a try.

A little too caramel malt for my tastes but I see why people really enjoy it. It doesn't feel like a 9% DIPA and the fruits mix well with the hops and malt. Has a small head and about an amber color. Picked up a single since Great Lakes is a company I'm interested in knowing more about but yeah this isn't the flavor I'm particularly looking for in my IPAs.

Light amber with medium head. Lacing on the sides and surface. Smell obviously is big hops but is more notable for the big sweet caramel malt character. Taste has a huge light malt backbone, which is one of the main things I want from a DIPA. Big hops, obviously but the malt is more than up for the challenge of balancing it out. Not really all that bitter- even in the finish, although there is some lingering hop flavor. If anything, it's a little too malty, although I do like it. Medium to full bodied. Overall just a really solid DIPA.

Good light amber color, small white head. The hops are strong but the sweetness balances it and makes it citrus grapefruit juicy and balanced. Strong flavor but goes down surprisingly smooth. I've been dipping back into IPAs and this the best one I have had recently. Would drink again.

Pours an above-average head, with a clear and calm looking golden body.

Smells of piney malts, resins, malt, and various fruits.

Taste is essentially the smell squared. The hop bitterness definitely comes through, and the mouthfeel is relatively light.

Solid beer.
