Tasty! The honey malts give it a sweetness to take off some of the bitterness.

Great citrus nose, really well balanced taste. Definitely a winner, especially since I'm drinking a bottle that probably over a month old.

12oz bottle from Justdoit1234 (thanks man!). Best by 5/3/15, so I assume bottled 2/3/15. Served in a Burnt Hickory snifter.

Pours a deep orange amber with just over a finger of beige head. The foam shrinks to a thin layer, depositing dense sheets of lace on the way down.

A bright blend of citrus and grass brings a pleasing aroma that I keep coming back to enjoy. Rind, pulp, juice, floral and a little herbal with some malty sweetness in the background.

That nose was not misleading. This delivers the juicy, delicious and hoppy flavors of oranges, faint melon, grass, flower petals, honey, a little bread and just a hint of alcohol. Dangerously easy to drink, I could easily go through two or three of these.

Medium full, semi oily feel with moderate carbonation. The resinous hop oils cling to the tongue for a bitter finish of citrus peel, sappy branches and mild honey.

I'm quite glad that I got this chance to try Great Lakes' Chillwave. Were this available in Georgia this juicy, delicious explosion of hops would find regular refuge in my refrigerator. Certainly worth a try for any hophead.

Good frothy finger high head, mixed bubble sizes makes for uneven surface, light tan color, excellent retention, the lacing is very thick and covers wide swaths of the glass side. The liquid is as close to red as orange, very deep and glowing, at first you could miss seeing the tiny bubbles meandering within, very pretty to look at. Thick, clingy nose of molasses, pine sap, pink grapefruit pulp, it’s more spicy and smoky than herbaceous, pineapple, mango, nectarine, apricot fruit scents, more chocolate and malt appears as it warms, ends with even more smokiness like meat fat on a grill. Full-bodied, beef jerky, iron and slightly soapy, sticky in a dry residue fashion. Plenty of pine and grapefruit, tangerine citrus, here you get a bit more herbal stiffening but not enough to inch into “refreshing” territory. Cocoa, caramel, molasses sweeten the finish. The carbonation seems to be at an average plus level but the beer is so dense you need even more. Cherry, pineapple, nectarine, peach, mango fruit, in keeping with the whole more heavy than juicy and flowing. It’s a good enough brew but not sure I’d want more than one in a sitting.
