My three younger brothers and I drove up to Cleveland to visit on the occasion of a 30th birthday, and it was well worth it.

A: Located in a very cool old building, lots of old woodwork (including the bar), a unique straw-bale-walled bier garden, a stone basement, and also in an interesting nieghborhood with other attractions too. It got crowded fast, though - we were there as they opened and got a table right away but we were amazed at how fast it filled up.

Q: Anyone who knows Great Lakes knows that they make good beers, and a long list of their year-round, seasonal, and pub exclusive brews were available.

Service: the waitress was fine, but the free tour was exceptional. We ended up in a group of 6 people total, and the small group certainly helped that. We got up close to everything involved in the process (they don't brew on Saturdays, so that probably helped) and the tour guide was very informative and easy to talk to. We noticed that the group was much larger for the next tour - we took the first one available, at 1:00. I'm not a brewery tour veteran, but this was one of the greatest free things I've ever received.

Selection: see Q above.

F: What we had was good, not raging awesome. It seemed a bit on the expensive side, maybe - certainly more than what I'm used to in Grand Rapids.

Went here before a Cavaliers game to eat dinner and drink some beer. Restaurant provides a shuttle ride for $1/person to and from, which is a nice bonus. Beers on tap are just as good as what you can buy in a bottle.

A very unique, old building in which it is very dark. The cellar pub is even more dingy, but cool. They hav]d several beers on tap in which a few are not commonly found. The gift shop had much variety in which all flagship and some other beers are offered for takeout.

Visited here on a Friday night while visiting a college buddy. Brewery is in a historic neighborhood that is definitely making a comeback with lots of restaurants and shops. You walk in the bar and it is an immediate throwback to a great, local neighborhood bar feel. The food menu was a cross between old pub favorites and newer, more modern dishes. I had a barbeque burger and was very pleased. Side salads were pretty awesome too. Options on the menu for appetizers looked good as well, but we did not have any. Service was prompt and thorough as well.

As for the beer, well it's Great Lakes. Great lagers (Dortmunder!) and pale ale (Burning River) are the staples, with their other flagships also not letting you down. I can't remember what exactly the seasonal was at the time, but they did have an experimental hop beer on which was also above average and showed off the hop very well. The brewery tour after dinner was solid, with tours of their (extremely) cramped packaging hall and a view of their immaculate brewhouse. Taste panel was happening and they even gave us a sneak taste of an upcoming Belgian Chocolate Stout collaboration.

Overall, the Great Lakes people are great people making great beer. The restaurant is will represented and the tour tells their story very well. This is a must visit spot if you are in Cleveland!

Cool physical building and cool decor. Terrible vibe. Kitschy tourist trap. Place smelled awful. Like rotted vegetable farts and okd seafood. Pretty raunch. Will never be back.
