I was at Great Lakes for their Oktoberfest party. I walked in with 10 people and a 2 hour wait for a table. The hostess was accommodating and luckily 8 seats opened at the bar so we just camped out there.

The place was packed and a nice German band was playing out on the patio. I would have liked to have been there when it wasn't so crowded but it was still a great time. The bartenders were excellent and stopped to answer every question I had even though they were extremely busy.

You can tell this is definitely an old building (1898 if I remember correctly). I heard some interesting stories on the tour about Great Lakes and all the buildings on the block and I am sure I would have heard more from the bartenders if we had time to chat.

I made it just in time for the 8 o'clock tour (last of the day) and was lucky enough to be the only on that showed up. It was great getting what basically was a private tour of the brewery. I really enjoyed the samples of Edmund and Christmas from the fermentors. Overall a very nice tour with a ton of brewing info and Great Lakes historical info packed into an hour. The tour is highly recommended.

The selection contained GL's mainstays (Elliot Ness, Burning River, Dortmunder, Edmund & Holy Moses) along with Nosferatu, Lake Erie Monster & Oktoberfest. I would have preferred a few more seasonals/specials on tap but I still had my hands full with the Nosferatu and Monster.

The food seemed slightly pricey for bar food but I think they had a few more upscale (as far as bar food goes) items on the menu so it might have been in line with what you get. I had the burger and it was delicious. The beer was cheap enough to balance out the food and make GL very reasonable. The growlers were exspensive though as others have mentioned in reviews.

Overall, Great Lakes was one of the best brewpubs I have been to and is a must visit for anyone on the area. I even met Luke the brewer and he invited us to a tailgate party for the Badger game the next day. Don't forget to stop at the gift shop (you kind of have to search for it as I didn't think it was the easiest to find).

Good service and friendly atmosphere. Food was average. Took a tour of brewery which was worth it.

Great Lakes Brewery has great beers across the board, huge seelction of regular rotation and a seasonal beer for every month. It will stand up to any brewery in the country!

Wonderful selections! Never thought I'd be saying great things about anything coming from the water of Lake Erie, but then I'm from Pittsburgh, so... We've tried several of the offerings from GLB, Co. and enjoyed every one more than several times. Our favorite is Dortmunder Gold Lager so far. I'm not much of a lager fan, but this is not your typical lager. While it's rich, it doesn't have the usual heaviness and it's great for a hot day! All in all, it's almost a perfect beer that goes great with a summer meal. Enjoy!

A good brewery located close to downtown Cleveland and very close to the West Market (which is worthwhile exploring). I wish I had spent more time there, but I had a prior engagement, never-the-less I did get to try a few of their beers (which I had never tried before).

This is a can't miss place. Sitting at the same bar John D. Rockefeller sat at and where Elliot Ness shot a hole in is a great experience. the basement bar has an hones old pub feel. the food is top notch and the service was excellent. If you are lucky enough to be in Cleveland, you must make this a priority.

While I can't rate the food, I can assure any potential visitor that the Holy Moses, Turntable Pils, and Dortmund Gold were absolutely delicious, and were great to have over a long conversation... I'm confident that if Washington operated over a couple bottles of Great Lakes, we wouldn't have quite so many problems with our government that we do...

Went here before a Cavaliers game to eat dinner and drink some beer. Restaurant provides a shuttle ride for $1/person to and from, which is a nice bonus. Beers on tap are just as good as what you can buy in a bottle.

A very unique, old building in which it is very dark. The cellar pub is even more dingy, but cool. They hav]d several beers on tap in which a few are not commonly found. The gift shop had much variety in which all flagship and some other beers are offered for takeout.
