Poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: A pitch black that pours a tan head, not much retention.

Smell: A lot of roasted malt, maybe some chocolate. No pumpkin?

Taste: It taste like an ordinary porter, malty, cocoa, maybe a hint of nutmeg. But almost no pumpkin flavor.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, moderate carbonation.

Overall: It taste like a regular porter, but I do not get much of the pumkpin or spice flavor. It taste good, just not what is adverstised.

On tap at brewery in San leandro. Read the reviews first, had to weigh in on this one. It's smoky, dark and deep. Good leathery feel. That's the good stuff. On the other hand, the power of the smokiness pretty much obliterates the pumpkin spice . It's difficult to figure out what they are aiming for here. It finishes hoppy, which is ok for an 8% beer, but its got some astringent notes that come with the dark or smoked malt. If you can swallow a pint of this you're a better man than I am.

Look - pitch black with a giant creamy tan head and very little lacing.

Smell - roasted malts, pumpkin, chocolate, some smoke, maybe nutmeg. It took awhile to identify these aromas since the smell overall is quite subtle and a little odd.

Taste - chocolaty malts, pumpkin, that nutmeg spiciness, and ends with some notes of vanilla.

Feel - good carbonation, the mouthfeel is somewhat chewy, but ends pretty thin.

Overall, I appreciate this unique take on the style, but the aroma is a little off-putting, and I would like a thicker body to it. The pumpkin is definitely present, but I don't know if it really fits this style.

Jet black with a thick creamy tan head, beautiful

The nose reminds me of grape medicine I had as a kid, very fruity the malts and the spice lend to an almost medicinal flavor, not in a bad way, if that make sense.

The taste is more baltic porter than spice, unlike the triple IMO. The flavor melded well better.

Its not an every day beer certainly but not bad.

A Baltic porter with pumpkin spices! Awesome! This could be my new Halloween beer. NOPE. It sounds like a good idea but it just doesn't work. Or at least this version doesn't work. It's fruity in the nose (apricot?, plum, fig) with an odd note, and neither the rich malt and dark notes of the Baltic porter nor the pumpkin pie spices really come through, being all muddled up within each other and the yeasty fruitiness. And the same seems to be true of the flavor, although I will say for sure that it's better, but I don't really get the spices, so I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to just not have them there at all - they don't seem to elevate it in any way. The balance is good, and it's clean, I just feel that it didn't quite click.

Appearance: When poured it's very dark with a two finger beige head that is not only quite frothy but it leaves good lacing behind.

Aroma: Chocolate malts, pumpkin spice, roasted malts, a light dryness in the nose. Faint coffee notes.

Taste: Chocolate malts in the front, Yeasty dryness in the middle. Some coffee notes, roasted hops with a bit of a dry finish.

Notes: Well what we have here is an interesting take on a Baltic Porter and a good one at that. Cheers.

Pours what appears to be a clear very dark brown that is garnet hued when held to the light, producing 2+ fingers of foamy, creamy, moderately lasting, tan head that leaves motes, wisps & strings of lace. Aroma is roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate & Hershey's chocolate syrup, spice, pumpkin & a hint of smoke. Taste is similar to the nose but is more pumpkin & spice heavy with the cinnamon prominent, dark & bittersweet chocolate,  roast with burnt bread undertone, hints of molasses/toffee, an earthy mustiness & a faint hint of coffee. Lager yeast in the finish. I'm sure the caraway is there but is wasted on my unfamiliarity with it. Smooth, sweet start transitions to a dry, peppery feel in the finish, leaving a spice heavy, very dry, burnt chocolate & faintly bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy bodied, moderate carbonation, chewy but silky & creamy with a lively finish & a spice heavy, somewhat tongue numbing aftertaste. An interesting & very different brew. Very intriguing!
