Blah Blah Blah IPA is a maltier, amber-colored take on a traditional IPA. We incorporate some interesting malts including Baird Caramel 80, a darker, sweet crystal malt. Belgian biscuit malt give it a toasty flavor; and German dark Munich malt for body and color. We also hopped this ale a bit differently than we normally do with most of the hops being added at different times very late in the boil for a full hop "jammy" flavor and brighter aroma. We then dry-hopped it very aggressively using five different hops including a new experimental varietal to pack the flavors and aromas of pine, citrus, grapefruit and jam. Blah Blah Blah, just try it!

The packaging on this beer is pretty hilarious, so I decided to pick up a single can to try since it was pretty affordable for an 8% IPA. Despite deriding all of these different kinds of "IPA"-like beers breweries have been putting out and marking up with fancy adjectives and marketing terms, 21st Amendment actually claims that this has some unique elements to it themselves, including its use of Belgian and German malts plus an experimental hop variety. I don't know if I find that hypocritical or just kind of amusing, but I guess this is pretty much supposed to be a slightly maltier take on an double IPA when all is said and done. Enough of my rambling, though... there's beer to drink and ponder!

Pours a slightly-hazy light/medium amber color with an exuberant display of hefty foam sitting atop its translucent body. This one came straight out of the gates with almost 5 fingers of foamy head, though it eventually dissipates to a 2-3 finger ring with nice legs and spotty lace hanging around lazily.

Nose is piney and citrusy up front with some lighter berry notes including raspberry. Interesting. I see what they mean when they reference the word "jammy" in the beer description, even though that seems like a strange thing to want an IPA to smell like. Then again, these guys DID make the Toaster Pastry red IPA which actually also had some raspberry notes. This overall smells like a less-caramel-forward version of that beer, actually, with the biscuity maltiness kicking around in there.

Flavor is consistent with the nose, with a nice base of toasty and biscuity malt overlaid with surprisingly juicy flavors of orange, raspberry and grapefruit. Pine is still noticeable here but it's honestly kind of buried beneath a layer of sweet malt and bright fruity notes. Light tropical aspects here too, and not much in the way of ethanol warmth which is pretty surprising considering this is 8%.

Feel is rather slicky and somewhat chewy, with low-ish carbonation and a coating palate. I really enjoyed this one, actually, and will probably get some more. 21st Amendment can be hit-or-miss for sure, but this is very solid.

Deep gold pour with a moderate pure white head. Nice citrusy aroma. This is an aggressively hopped beer. Five hop varieties for flavor, 3 in the dry-hop, and Chinook added later for bittering. The hops used should create a New England-West Coast flavor hybrid, but West Coast is far more prominent. Pine and grapefruit dominate a high-IBU attack. This DIPA is in your face, perhaps a little too much so.

Part of a variety 12-pack $19.99 Don Quijote
301 days old. Don't buy their variety packs because they fill it with old beer and no date on the box.
Amber-orange color
Smell reminds me of orange creamsicle
Tastes bitter, oranges, unbalanced alcohol aftertaste
Overall doesn't taste well made. Could be due to age, but the alcohol is too pronounced and there isn't any flavors that would make you think it is a good IPA.

12oz can into a pint glass.
L: Pours medium hazed apricot gold w/a slightly rocky 1" eggshell white head, good carbonation, good head retention, decent banding, sheeting & lacing.
S: Caramelized malts, citrus, honey, pineapple pith, light yeast, bread dough, melon.
T: Topped w/hops, rich fruity lightly tangy citrus, melon & melon rind, ripe orange, light grapefruit, pine in the finish. Moderately sweet overall.
F: Firm, crisp, juicy & wet full-flavored medium bodied mouth feel w/a medium length finish and a light linger.
O: A very durable & tasty classic American West Coast Double IPA displaying fresh fruit juices with well balanced sweetness & bitterness. It is excellent in it's style.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, orange, pineapple and toasted caramel. It tasted of tropical fruit, resinous piney bitterness and toasted caramel.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is transparent straw gold, head is big on this pour over 2 inches, great lacing on the glass sides, head lingers leaves a solid 1 finger top for a while.

Smell is straight solid AIPA of yore with a sweet piney note with light grapefruit, some maltiness with a light honey note.

Taste is similar with mix of pine, grapefruit pith, honey, lighter caramel malt, moderately sweet but enough bitterness to back it.

Mouthfeel is low carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness. Slightly lighter bitterness than the typical classic DIPA.

Overall a really nice DIPA with slightly sweet, lower bitterness but a classic hop aroma/flavor.

I love the can art in this one, it’s just funny and sums up the beer community IPA wants. This is a fruity citrusy on the nose beer, the beer is Golden amber and not milk shake or hazy, this is a good middle of the road IPA, it harkens back to the days when IPA were new and exciting and somewhat plain but really enjoyable and not over done.

12 ounce can poured into a tulip glass. Indeciferable canning info.

L---Lightly hazy, dark golden color. Frothy off-white head had very good retention and left gorgeous lacing.

S---Grapefruit, sweet malts, pine. Really nice, but a bit lighter than I'd prefer.

T---Grapefruit, pine, vague citrus. Malty backbone.

F---Medium/full body. Well carbonated. Slightly tart feel.

O---A really nice one. I'll get this again if I see it.

Translucent deep gold appearance with a large dense white head and good lacing. Citrus is first and foremost in the smell, maybe some tropical fruit lingering there as well. Taste does not stray from those impressions, just add a dose of pine and we're good to go. Malts are contributing a bit more than I originally thought; a really solid body and balance. FWIW, plenty of humor on the current can: .0258 wetness factor, protestors (including Abe Lincoln) holding signs for alternative IPA's like sweet pickle and cat. Enjoyed this one.

Pours amber with a thick white head and lots of lace. Aroma is fruits and hops. Taste is complex blend of malts and hops with slight bitterness -- with a crisp, dry finish. At 8% ABV has a nice kick but is not too boozy. This is an excellent beer -- first one I've had from 21st Amendment.

From a 12oz can dated "packed on" 5/27/20 into a pint glass.

Pours a slightly murky brownish yellow with about a finger and a half of white head. Great retention, average lacing.

Smells of pine, orange and grapefruit peel and a bit of sweet floral-ness.

Tastes mainly of bitter pine and resin with just a touch of citrus sweetness. A bit of alcohol heat in there as well.

Alcohol taste makes a little bit of a tougher drink. Strong bitter and alcohol aftertaste. Low carbonation.

Overall, well, I bought it for the name (see Rush's Alex Lifeson's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction speech). The beer is ok but wouldn't seek this one out.
