When I pulled this can out of the variety pack, I was afraid it was a Mexican lager. I was sadly disappointed. Smells corny. Taste is consistent. Weak, Bleh. Not my style. Regardless, to have DMS in the nose and mouth is Meh.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a Willi Becher glass. Stamped "Cold Spring, MN CQP12 0923" even though the can says "Hecho en San Leandro"
2/1.5/2/3/1.25
Clear, pale yellow with a couple of bubbles. Scant heads fades fast.
Smells like a cheap, crappy lager, à la Bud or Corona. Sweet and corny.
Tastes lake a cheap, crappy lager, à la PBR. Sweet, malty, lightly carbonated, and broadly palatable though specifically objectionable.
I don't know why a brewery like 21st Amendment would intentionally make this beer or sell it at this price. Avoid!

This beer was included in a variety pack I purchased at Costco. Hard to believe a craft brewer is selling such an inferior beer. Look: straw yellow, smell: slightly fruity, taste: weak very little there to please my taste buds, Feel: like I might use for cooking not drinking.

I usually like it when craft brewers do macro styles. I'm not exactly sure why, since they are usually only somewhat better than quaffing a PBR or Natty Boh or other drinkable swill and often double the price. Maybe it's just the idea that these guys who make the good stuff also play beer league softball, mow their lawns, and barbecue outside in ninety five degree heat when their whole family thinks they're insane. Somehow, crap beer in the great equalizer and humanizer.

Anyhoo, this is yellow, clear beer with a head that does not linger. Nose is corny. The body is flat and the taste uninspiring. There is a moderate bread note in the aftertaste but that's reaching a bit. I like BFD and Beerito but this isn't one that stands out.

Pale blonde color, with about 10% haze. Head is actually pretty sturdy for being a mexican lager. 3 fingers. Fluffy with plenty of wispy lace left behind.

Light baked corn aromas, hay, light malts, faint super glue.

Flavors of tin and metal, corn, green plant stems, and a slightly doughy finish. The metal stays with you and so do the plant stems.

Carbonated, wet, and a chalky finish.

Overall, yeah this isn't much better than the run-of-the-mill Mexican macros. The base style isn't impressive to begin with, but this isn't even really good at all. Better than Pacifica and Corona, but not as good as OB's Beerito. Unless you are a Mexi lager fanatic, skip this one without regret.

Great look, great mouthfeel and carbonation. Packaging from 21st Amendment is spot on, too. However, there is a malty, corn-y, dull dry and bitter aftertaste that is unpleasant to the point of making me want to stop drinking. I really want this to be a slammer, but the taste is off and the smell has hints of it already. Bought six six packs to mix with tepache and it does not go well with that, or with lemonade.

Stick to the cheaper Mexican lagers.

Why on earth would a craft brewery deliberately try to produce their own version of Corona? Hard to know. However, since many do, I am going to just start rating these offerings by comparing them to Corona.

Pours a straw color with less than a finger of fizzy head; I actually think that Corona is more golden. The nose is malty instead of corny. The flavor also lacks the skanky corn essence of Corona. The body is much heartier than Corona.

Conclusion: this is better than Corona but hardly worthy as a craft beer.

Not sure what they're going for here. A blend of a Vienna-style lager with South-of-the-border cerveza, it's not bad, but is generally the type of beer craft lovers bypass. Found in a variety 12-pack, I'll save the rest for when the Corona fans in my life come by.

Clear, straw color with absolutely no head after a few seconds, doesn't look good at all. Aroma is sweet and grainy, you can tell it has adjuncts in it. Taste starts also sweet and grainy, a slight tartness and gets balanced with some hop bitterness in the finish. Body is quite light and fizzy. Overall it's pretty clean but the sweetness makes it a bit hard to swallow.

This beer is basically a nicer Corona or Modelo. It's light and drinks like a mexican beer, but I honestly would say that it certainly is not worth the price upgrade over basic Mexican style beers. And I would probably get myself Negra Modelo anyways if I was craving a mexican.
