Bought a can at the Beer Shop in East Longmeadow. The beer pours with a murky straw yellow appearance and a medium sized head that quickly dissipates into a thin ring around the glass. Nice aromas of wheat, bread, and a berry fruit smell. Taste is sour, lighter than I expected watermelon taste, mixed with a light grain texture. The mouthfeel took me awhile to enjoy. After a few sips, I really began to enjoy the beer's body; it is not too crisp, but its not watery or flat. Its a unique body that helps the beer be a refreshing. Overall, the beer grew on me, especially the mouthfeel. Could use a stronger watermelon presence, but overall, not too bad.

Nothing special going on here. It seems to me that they brewed it with the rind of the watermelon. It has a juicy yet bitter & drying body. Average but nothing to write home over.

Poured from Can to Goblet;much better than the original on tap I had. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a wheat beer the first time.

Very refreshing beer, acts terrific as a starter beer for a session of drinking. Distinct wheat taste at first followed by a somewhat drastic change to watermelon. Slight lingering taste of wheat. Overall a decent beer I would drink again, would like to see a smoother blending of flavors.

Hazy very pale gold color. Nice white head, super tight and persistent.
Aroma wheat with a whiff of watermelon.
Taste is malted wheat with a decent hint of watermelon.

I don't understand some of the very negative reviews of this beer.
C'mon guys.
If you've ever brewed something like this you'd understand the difficulty of harmonizing these
Subtle flavors.
Maybe if it were 10% blended with artisianal Sumerian Goat chocolate and aged on 40 yr old
Whisky barrels, it would be worthy!

It is what is billed as, a 4.9% American wheat with watermelon!
It may not be a masterpiece, but it is a good refreshing fruit wheat beer.

Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with white fizzy head. Wheat, yeasty notes, and a distinct watermelon tone on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with a lot of watermelon, very refreshing on a hot day.

Look (3.75): Has the classic style look of a somewhat filtered wheat ale. Some major carbonation to this brew, as expected per wheat ales.

Smell (3.5): Sweet vanilla and biscuity aromas something off this guy. Mild watermelon in the nose.

Taste (3.75): Again, starts out sweet and bready like (biscuits) and then has a nice mild watermelon background and finish. Nothing to intense, just really sessionable.

Mouthfeel (3.5): Soft and supple feel to it. Light bodied and the carbonation bubbles slightly scrub the palate.

Overall (3.25): One of the enjoyable spring/summer time brews. Something easy sipping that you can drink all day, not an intensely flavorable brew by any means.

I feel this is a very good watermelon wheat beer. Very light and perfect to drink on a hot summer day. I have only had this on draft and have yet to be disappointed it. Watermelon flavors are perfect and you can put this one back with satisfaction.

Pours a cloudy, golden color. 1/4 inch head of an off-white color. Decent retention and good lacing. Smells of watermelon, slight wheat, hint of hop, and slight pale malt. Fits the style of an a Fruit / Vegetable beer more than an American Pale Wheat Ale, because the watermelon dominates. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of watermelon, slight wheat, hint of hop, and slight pale malt. Overall, while this was a very refreshing brew, I wish there was more of a wheat backbone to balance the brew.

Terrific wheat-first beer that doesn't overcompensate its flavor by making it too subtle nor too fruity. Watermelon hits you and then dissipates with a delicious wheaty mouthfeel. This is gonna rock my summer if I can find it quick enough; always sells out around me.

The best way to describe it from my point of view is, it poured out looking like corrs lite. It tastes like corrs lite with a small watermelon after taste. Not a strong watermelon taste, I would like to taste more watermelon. Thought it is a very good summer beer!

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass. Aroma- nice watermelon scent, not overpowering. Appearance- A clear golden yellow with a small white head. Taste- I really enjoyed the flavor of wheat and watermelon. An excellent summer beer.

EBD 10/31/15. Slightly hazy golden pour with a touch of amber. Normal head volume, very good retention and poor lacing.

OK nose of biscuit and wheat underneath a light watermelon.

Heavy light body with a nice smooth texture. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescent burst in the middle and a finely bubbled surge in the finish.

The flavor profile is outstanding. It begins with a burst of watermelon flavor that isn't really sweet, more of a perfect balance with the wheat. Biscuit sweetness is present, but subtly so in a balancing background fashion. Hints of hop bitterness appear in the middle providing contrast. The finish is fairly crisp and a light watermelon rind lingers.

I found this to be one of the worst beers I've ever had. The balance of flavors was very off, the watermelon very artificial and not cohesive with the other flavors present.

This is a refreshing wheat beer that lives up to its billing as a very watermelon forward offering. Watermelon is one of my hangover cures so I can see this being useful for those purposes. Wouldn't choose it often but solid choice for a hot summer day or night.

A - Looks golden but thin with a thick head of bubbles that quickly dissipates.
S - not a strong nose on this one, but you do get a whiff of watermelon and maybe some citrus, too
T - watermelon rinds come out to play midway through the sip, otherwise a pleasant, balanced wheat beer, a little extra hops on the finish
F - thin with abundant, tiny strong bubbles

Generally, a run of the mill beer. Extremely drinkable, even chuggable. The watermelon is truly refreshing and doesn't fight, but rather complements the light wheat beer and hops. Great, easy summer sipping.

Not bad at all. Has a nice watermelon jolly rancher taste on the finish. Reminds me of my youth. Nothing special nor horrible. Take a chance, grab one and sit on the porch smelling that fresh cut grass in the air. Something serious might just happen.

8/27....pours light gold, see through, no foam. Mild wheat nose, faint fruit. Taste is a soft wheat followed by a wave of watermelon. Pulpy. Fruit flavor hangs out for the finish. Taken as a point that watermelon isn't the best fruit for a beer, this one gets points for creativity.

Frustrating but good beer!

I absolutely loved this beer when I first tried it on tap two years ago. I found it soon after in a can, and it was not nearly as good as the version on tap.

I went through the same thing this summer- found it on tap, and fell in love with it again. I then found it on tap elsewhere and was extremely disappointing. So that's two taps that were good, one that was bad.

It is worth noting that the two places that were good on tap are solid beer bars that rotate their taps on a normal basis.

I believe that this is a very delicate beer- when maintained properly and served at the absolute right temperature (very cold) it is delicious- just the right amount of watermelon will come through at the end, it's light and refreshing, and can easily have mass appeal.

In the can it seems to lose something, and if not served properly it loses a lot of appeal. I've tried to introduce the beer to others and it seems like every time I have tried to its one of those bad experiences with the beer.

21st Amendment may benefit by putting additional quality control in place or providing strong guidelines to the distributors and bars.

Not my favorite style, but this is a strong showing with the uncommon fruit/wheat combo. Would recommend to anyone who likes this kind of beer or doesn't like beer but willing to try.

First time I had this was at 21st Amendment in SF and it came with a watermelon slice, I remembered it being a decent wheat beer. Two years later and it's still pretty satisfying. Pours a slightly hazy light-yellow with greenish-tones and a tiny head that dissipates quickly. Smell is wheat, some citrus and hints of watermelon. The nice thing about the watermelon taste throughout is that, as others have noted, it's genuine and smooth rather than artificial. Lots of wheat and watermelon flavor and mouthfeel is alright, really what you'd expect from an American wheat.

Can poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours hazy light golden straw with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little lacing.

S: Wheat, a bit yeasty, light spice, and a little watermelon.

T: Watermelon jumps right out but isn't artificial or cloyingly sweet, plenty of wheat, some yeasty goodness, light citrus, light spice,

M: On the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Really nice refreshing change of pace summer beer. I just wish a little more watermelon came out in the nose.

A interesting combination of wheat body and citrus flavors. I sampled at the tap room with a slice of watermelon. Like most wheat beers, the hop presence is mild and innocuous.

Hard to find the watermelon. Just tastes odd. And no crispness for a wheat beer of low alcohol. Not refreshing. Working to get it down. Here a lot of good things about the 21A but this beer casts serious doubt if it's the only thin from then you can get.

Ordered this to try it since I've read quite a bit about it. Was expecting it to taste like a wine cooler and was pleasantly surprised at the subtlety of the watermelon. I other than that, it's a typical non-offensive wheat beer, but I could definitely see drinking a few in the right setting: at the beach, at a picnic, etc.
