12oz canned June 6th. Very fresh. Served at around 45F.
Pours clear golden amber with a two finger off white head that leaves some rings of lacing and holds a small cap.
Aroma is peach, apricot, pineapple, citrus such as tangerine and grapefruit, as well as some caramel, bread, oak and vanilla. Very good strength.
Flavor is citrus, grapefruit, orange, lemon, some peach and a bit of tropical fruit, oak, vanilla, bready malt, and some noticeable alcohol. Minimal sweetness with strong finishing bitterness. Nice.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation.
Damned good oak-aged DIPA. Very aromatic with the hops really shining through but the oak aging adds some subtle complexity.

Great beer, doesn't drink like an Imperial. Best offering I've had from them. Recommend for sure.

Hoppy. Deadly alcohol content (in a good way).

"Best by 10/9/15"; drank 7/14/15 @ the Yarchives.
Poured from a can into a glass.
Semi-opaque light orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big white head; a frothy curtain of lace.
Pineapple & faint vanilla notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Pineapple & mango flavors up front; mild vanilla & faint grapefruit notes on the finish. A fruity, balanced DIPA with no booze heat; nicely done!

12oz can with no freshness date.
Clear weathered golden color. Off-white bubbly head sticks to the glass like a champ. Soft resin, floral and slightly fruity hops with substantial edge of citric ... alcohol is clean and so is the malt, a pleasing aroma. Smooth and creamy fullish body. Hop bitterness is there, slow moving but it eventually tries to take over the palate. Alcohol is certainly there with a warmth that starts up on the first sip. Big herbal push unfolds into more of a tobacco and citric juice and rind flavor. Oak? Yeah there is a slight pull from the oak which adds a complexity within. Maltiness struggles to make its mark but does come through with some nutty toasted graininess. Finishes bitter with some residual malt underneath.
A good run at the style, not many canned craft beers of this strength in the market so Hop Cirsis has that going for it. Hopheads have another option when cans are the only choice.

Growler fill from DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY. Pours clear lighter amber, fluffy off white head, thicker collar and leaves way better then average sheeting and lacing all the way to the top of the glass.
Pungent citric and pine infused nose. Fresh sniffer.
Bold and flavorful DIPA, with waves of citric hops with tropical fruit notes also floating around. Also picking up some mint in this bright and densly flavorful brew.
Prolly the best 21st Amendment offering I've had to date.

From can but 6 months past exp date. Don't think it affected taste too much. Very easy drinking double but no too strong in flavor. High ABV not very noticeable. Flavors were good, malt hop citrusy mix was easy in the mouth. Would really like to get this fresh next time.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass at the Taco Mac in Atlanta, GA. The appearance is a clear copper color with a large white head. The aroma is a nice blend of citrus and pine hops. The taste is very close to the nose. A very good beer.

I love hoppy Imperial IPAs and I love malty barleywines. I especially love IPAs that can balance the hops and the malt so that they're both present and apparent, but they play nicely together. That's Hop Crisis. Half IIPA; half barleywine - just about perfect. I found it when I was out of town and only bought a single can to give it a try. Now I'm the one having the hop crisis. How am I going to get more of this great stuff???

Poured into a nonic a lighter golden with a well formed half finger white head that left a full ring of lace behind as it settled into a soapy-like mass.Aromas were pretty light with some toasted oak and mild resiny hops,as it warmed some sweet alcohol notes came through as well. The flavors don't really wow you but there is a nice resiny hop profile with some drunken fruit, the mild oak flavors seem to keep everything together pretty well hence a good taste score.I like this beer, it's not overly sweet and alcoholic like way to many of the style and the oak is not over done.

A - Extremely clear copper color, nice head, but fades to just a covering quickly, although leaves nice lacing.
S - Surprising amount of sweet hop smell along with a lot of citrusy hops and a touch of pine.
T - A hop blash similar to what was detected in the aroma, lots of citrus with a bit of pine. The malt sweetness definitely is there are is able to stand up to the hop presence. Delicious bitter finish counted by sweet malt and a touch of kilned malt balances it out well, especially with a little alcohol kick at the end.
M - Smooth, moderate body, but attenuated well for such a big beer. There are definitely some sugar left in there though to help balance the huge hop and alcohol.
D - Big, powerful, but balanced. Almost to the point of not standing out, but it makes for an extremely drinkable IIPA.

Poured into my 21st Amendment tulip, what else?
Decent appearance, slightly cloudy, nice foamy head dissipates slowly leaving good lace.
Good enough IIPA with hops up front but somewhat subdued. Doesn't live up to its name. Expected more.
Not bad, just not great. I'm a big fan of 21st Amendment - especially during SF Beer Week - and wanted more from this beer.

Pours a hazy straw color with a foamy white head that leaves lots of lace. Beer clears as it warms a bit.
Lots of tropical fruits in the aroma as well as hints of peach and candy fruit slices, some grapefruit as well.
The taste is juicy, bitter and sweet. Tropical and citrus up front followed by some nice sweetness and a finishing pithy bitterness. A little boozy as it warms. Didn't really pick up any oak. Maybe a hint of vanilla?
Mouthfeel is medium and slightly sticky.
Quite good, if second-tier, double IPA

First off, like most of 21A's cans, the design is cool as shit, maybe their coolest. Pretty eggshell head sitting on a pale golden body that looks light and inviting for an Imperial IPA.
As I cracked the can and transferred the contents into a large tumbler, a blossom of grapefruit juice hit my nose without me even trying to smell it. Some pine and sweeter notes as I bring it closer.
The taste lives up to the hoppy aroma, but the malt and alcohol make themselves known as well.
It's an Imperial no doubt, lighter on the palate than most. Bitter waxy finish.
Not my favorite of their cans but I'll always get at least 1 pack when they come around.
