Compared to other heavy Hefs (should this be a Weizenbock at 7.2 abv?), this one holds up well. You don't need a lemon or orange slice to make it taste good. Lots of bubble gum and a bit of clove in the nose. Heavy diacetyl that is often tasted in Bavarian wheat beers isn't present in this one, but of course it's not Bavarian. Very clear taste aside from the strong phenols. Hops are there, but don't make a scene. Even on tap, there wasn't much of a head, and what was there didn't leave a trace on the side of the glass.

Very aromatic. Enjoyed on tap at the restaurant. Good mouthfeel, though alittle acidic on the finish. Like a a dunkle weiss. Drinkable, but burning the stomach type acidic here. Brown with a bit of white head.I like the style, though this is not the best example of the style.

Tried this on tap at 21A the other night (5/5/10). Couldnt decide how to classify this. It has the abv of a weizenbock but that's about where the similarities stop. Did not pair overly well with either carribean jerk chicken or their pork tenderloin in red wine sauce.
Pours an ugly brown/tan with a nice fluffy white head on it. No retention and no real lacing.
Aroma is big time bananas and wheat with little to no clove. Surprisingly there is a moderate bubble gum presence.
Flavor is very similiar except a little spicier. I get some peppercorn flavor but again it takes a back seat to the banana and bubble gum. A bit sweet, perhaps too much. Over all a decent hefe with a little extra kick and hint of bazooka joe.
Medium/heavy body, low/medium carbonation, and decently drinkable. Worth a try for sure.
