Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

This beer pours a bright gold with a fairly large head. The aroma is rich and sweet with notes of clove, green banana, white grape and brown toast. The flavor is fairly light, with notes of white grape, clove, green banana, biscuit malts, and cardamom. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with lively small bubble carbonation. Overall this is a perfectly well done beer - very much an American interpretation of the style, but still well done.

Yet again 21st Amendment Brewery delivers rather crafty can art!

Pale yellow, ultra thin head, lots of bubble streams, and tuns of rustic junk floating about!

The scent is an Old World delight, rustic malt, citrus.
Spice: well balanced & bold.
Taste follows the nose. Crisp and dry. Herbal.

Difficult to avoid two or more; a most tasty temptation!
Digging this Farmhouse style!
(Rather like a lighter ABV version of North Coast's Le Merle, for this alchemical accent ... I'll be back!)

It tastes like can. Kind of reminds me of Pabst if it was stronger. It gets you where you need to be, but tastes like aluminum butt while it does so.
It's not bad enough to keep me from drinking it. But it's getting there.

L: a fairly pale yellow (piss-colored haha), with good amount of white head
S: fairly standard saison aroma, with an array of various spices. smells tasty.
T: a little breadier/heavier than I was expecting given the pale color. the saison spice is not as strong as I was expecting, although now that I think about it, that's only because many saisons are over-spice, but this one seems very balanced. flavor is a little bland though. its not quite spiced water, but it's definitely on the weaker side of the flavor spectrum.
F: crisp, refreshing. carbonation is medium-light. slight bitterness. medium-bodied
O: overall a very drinkable saison. a bit light on the flavor, but still quite good

Slightly hazy amber color with initially huge somewhat fluffy head with good retention.
Elegant nose, more subtle than average Saison with notes of fresh oranges, mild cloves, a bit of cardamom, some pine, Saison yeast and white grapes.
Flavor with notes of candi sugar, oranges, a bit of medicinal herbs, white grapes, pineapple, Saison yeast, ginger, banana, cloves and bubble gum. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness. It feels lower than its 38 IBUs.
Light body with appropriate carbonation. Alcohol of 6.2% is completely absent.
Refreshing Saison for summer days with relatively lower intensity of flavors, but much higher drinkability. Good that the cardamom was restrained here.

I bought a can of this off the Binny single shelf. It poured a hazy yellow with thin/no head that is not leaving any lace. The scent had a floral white wine presence. The taste was nicely balanced for a saison. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with fizzy carbonation. Overall it was a decent beer.

The appearance has a hazy golden yellow colored body with a half finger’s worth of white foamy head that dies at a moderate pace leaving some clingy foamy lacing. Carbonation is seen rising fairly rapidly. The smell is sweet yeasty with a decent amount of peppery spiciness that combines throughout the beer. The taste has a nice sweet yeastiness enters in with the peppery spiciness that ends up having a sweet peppery aftertaste with the same finish. The palate has a light to medium body, fairly sessionable, carbonation is good for the style and for me as there’s a moderate amount lightly hitting my mouth and tongue. Overall, I say this is a solid saison that I’m glad I tried and will have no problem finishing off this sixpack.

12oz can
A - thin white head caps an effervescent pale golden ale; yeast particles suspended within
S - farmhouse yeast, wheat, spice, lemongrass
T - lemongrass, spice and cardamom, bold farmhouse yeast, mild fruity esters create pear and apricot, along with some white grape
M - lighter body with higher carbonation, semi-dry finish
O - its main attributes are that its easy to drink and quite refreshing; decent flavors for the style. Probably nothing I'd recommend unless someone had a thing for cardamom - even though I'm not sure I'd pick it out if it wasn't listed on the packaging.

12 FL OZ can
Served in a snifter

This beer pours a brilliant golden color and is topped with an inch of white head. The second pour clouds it.

I smell bananas and some Belgian yeast esters.

I get banana in the taste too. It tastes more like a hefe than a saison. There is a nice spice flavor.

Medium mouthfeel. Not as effervescent as most saisons.

It was okay. I am glad that I did not pay for it though.

Nice saison, pretty much everything you look for in one. Tart, but not overpowering, yeast note, and a touch of cardamom. Light body, very drinkable.
