Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

Poured a nice almost clear gold with a nice white head that comes in at about one finger. The atom is interesting with some saison notes of fruity esters but with a strong cardamom addition. The taste dials the cardamom back and it blends well with the traditional saison qualities. Just a little carbonation on the palate and doesn't overwhelm the lighter body weight.

The great can design attracted me... The above average taste will make this a repeat buy. Very good...but not great or super "memorable." I'll be interested to try other selections from this brewer.

Sneak Attack Saison brewed by 21st Amendment Brewery, with an ABV of 6.20% This brew pours out a amber color with a nice white head. The smell is rich with flavors. You pick up on spices, malts, and grains. The taste is bold with spice and grains. There is a lot going on in this brew. The mouthfeel is nice, clean and refreshing. There is nothing overpowering in this brew, it has a nice balance to it. Overall I'm giving Sneak Attack Saison a 4.25 out of 5 . I would buy this brew again.

My favorite offering from 21st Amendment so far. Their pricing seems to be getting better also.

On-tap 1/11/2015 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tapered pint glass.

A: The beer is a bright yellow color, with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains spices, Belgian yeast, some citrus and light caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out with a strong burst of herbal and ginger-like spices. Then some breadiness comes in from Belgian yeast and a hearty malt character. There is some mild sweetness from flavors of citrus and bananas. The hops presence is very mild but brings some balance. The after-taste is spicy and bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light-to-medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, decent kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely several other beer sin the style that I would pick first.
