21st Amendment Cafe can be found about four blocks from SBC Park on 2nd street, and it is well worth visiting if you are in the area. I was in the area for a Giants game and came here for dinner beforehand.

The food menu was limited prior to 7pm on the Monday we were there. My wife and I both had burgers and they were pretty good. We also shared some Asian spring rolls. Being able to get avocado on your burger was a big bonus.

Selection: porter, IPA, Double IPA, fruit wheat beer, and an ESB. ESB and the wheat were pretty decent. Neither blew my mind or anything. That pretty much somes up this brewpub. Good, not great. Not a "must", but you won't regret coming here. Good location, at least during baseball season.

Pubcrawling notes: Take the N to SBC Park and take the short walk. One stop away from Gordan Biersch, so keep your transfer if you don't feel like walking. Take the N to Van Ness/Church and get yourself to the Zeitgeist or Toronado. Or get off at Powell. Take the 30 or 45 bus to Rogue if you want to go there.

Located on 2nd St in San Francisco just a short walk under I-80 from the Moscone Convention Center, 21st Amendment by all appearance is very reminiscent of an unassuming, neighborhood Bar & Grill. The decor bespeaks a repurposed building with lots of exposed wood and masonry and utilitarian, weatherbeaten looking furniture; the staff is welcoming and attentive.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon (I was in town for a business event) and found the atmosphere charming and cozy. Through the door, the four-sided square bar is evident immediately with seating for about 25 and has approximately 12 taps (including at least one guest tap for cider). Past that is the sit down space with room for at least 100 with the grill area at the back. I had tried 21st century beers before and enjoyed them; the American Brut IPA that day was top notch.

I really enjoyed the overall feel of the place, which again was relaxed and comfortable. Brunch is available Saturday and Sunday mornings up until 2 pm. Note, I was in a hurry and the staff had me in and out of there quickly without pressuring or having to be asked; I suspect I could have sat there all day had I chosen to. Definitely worth a visit.

Good vibe, got there just before lunch and was hopping by 12:15. The food was good pub fare. The neers pn tap were great, the coco nutz was very good. The hefeweizen was very good also. My beef is that with all their beers they could have had a much bigger tap list.

i tried many of the choices they had, but walked away loving their Gigantes, even though I'm not a big pale ale fan. The flavor was amazing, and really drinkable.

this was kind of a random stop, but im so glad it happened. i have been enjoying their beer for years and marveling at their recent success and need to brew elsewhere. this is their somewhat humble beginnings, a smallish storefront from the street opens into a relatively expansive high ceilinged place, with the bar right in front, a small patio off the the side, and a lofted dining area above the kitchen all the way back. wood and stone and art are the decor, looks like its been there awhile, sort of quintessentially san francisco, at least as i have it in my head not being a local or anything. clean place too, well kept. the bartender was kind, and he shared a lot of samples with us. i had a smoked pumpkin beer that i really liked and the cask stout was excellent with vanilla, anise, and cocoa in it! the beer from these guys has always been good, so thats no surprise. a cool list of beers to pick from, and a nice looking food menu, but we didnt eat. good energy in here, especially in the morning as the day and the city sort of get going, it felt homey and right. very cool to visit the place where it all began for these now national players. worth checking out!

I visited 21st Amendment while in town for work. Of course I am familiar with all of their widely-distributed beers, but it was cool to come visit the mothership, as it were. It's an old school pub build-out with a couple of TVs on the wall; it's very lived-in, which I like a lot. They had 9 beers on tap plus 6 canned 21A offerings. The beers I tried were solid enough; I rarely have too many complaints about their beer anyway. It's not exactly a must-stop for amazing, undiscovered beer, but it's a cool piece of history to visit.
