Santé vertical 1-19. Thanks Stakem!
Beer shockingly good for being as old as it is. Light, nice tartness. Pretty clean finish. Minimal oxidation. Mild apples.

Hazy copper body with a thin, off-white collar. Musty basement, candied fruit. Light bodied with plenty of musty funk. Tasty.

Thanks, ineedbeer. The beer is amber in color. Fairly cloudy. The head puffed up nicely at first and faded to a ring of white bubbles. The aroma is deep with earthy funk. Very reminiscent of a vintage lambic. Mushrooms, mild apples and pears, some cheese, mild vinegar, maybe some faded spice. As with many older beers, the taste is a bit of a letdown from the aroma. There’s a lot of apple juice character, some vinegar. It’s got a bit of earthy funk, but it’s much flatter than the aroma suggested. The feel is light, a bit oily. Low carbonation. Not bad for a beer of this age and with such a soaked cork. I enjoyed this beer a lot more than expected. Pretty much zero cardboardy oxidation. Wonderful funk in the aroma. Very enjoyable overall.

750ml bottle into a matching Fantome tulip. The brew appears a clear color of amber at first and subsequent pours get increasingly hazed. A light off-white cap restd atop about a finger strong. Some spotty to webby strings of lace stick to the glass.
The aroma is lemony lactic with a mild oxidative touch smelling a bit like moist paper/cork with plenty if earthen brett notes. As it warms up, it gets a hint of vegetative quality almost like cabbage.
The flavor is surprisingly malty with notes of caramel/toffee and suggestions of oxidation. It is earthy and a bit vegetative with a noticeable amount of neutral hop flavors that are a bit hebal. It displays a bit of a tangy alcohol aftertaste hinting towards lemony lacto. More sips reveal a bit of apple cidar vinegar.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is fairly easy drinking, complex and enjoyable. The oxidation/age of this beer is noticeable but overall this was better than expected.

Bottle at Fantome-a-thon 2012
A hazed orange color with a finger of white head. A touch of cork up front followed by a robust yeast and funk aroma. Lots of straw, grass, and must with a surprising, almost candy sugar, sweetness. Lots of lemon zest with a subtle tartness. Lightly tart on the palate with some lemon and red berry flavors. A pleasant yeastiness and a hint of grass. As it warms, more fruit character comes through.
