The story goes that this beer is based on an ancient recepy from the former brewery De Drie Hoefijzers. This brewery used to be a private brewery but has been bought, sold and renamed a couple of times. Last owner (and still owner of the heritage building) is Inbev. A couple of years ago they stopped brewing at the De Drie Hoefijzers plant, then called Oranjeboom brewery. Somehow De Beyers managed to get help, the recepy and yeast from Oranjeboom to brew Klassiek. This being said about the beers history there's also a lot to be said about the beer itself. A few months ago a friend of mine brought me a bottle of the stuff. We tasted it together and were quite horrified. Only being bottle a couple of weeks before but already infected bigtime. Leaving a sour, foamless thin beer. Just last however I found myself in Breda and tried the same beer on tap. Amazed I was. I turned out to be a well brewed an refreshing beer. More or less like a lager but way better. Nice floral hops used that are present in the aroma as well as the flavor. It's light malty but rather bitter an contrary to the trend of making beers sweeter and sweeter. So, final conclusion must be that I actually like it a lot. But remember: don't take a bottle home.

BB 9-2005. Quiet dark golden brew with some white head not overwelmingly stable also. Nose is yeastfruityness with good malts, fresh and spicy alltogether. Clean taste but misses litle body. Fine maltyness and only litle bitterness make this brew litle dull and gives it a watery and empty mouthfeel. Drinkable but IMO not with the best. Sampled this one yesterday also at the brewery from tap and it was about the same.
