you can tell that maybe the hops arent as fresh here as they were when this was first brewed, but this is an expert belgian pale even with that, more bitter than i am used to in the style, and pretty mellow on the belgian yeast esters, kind of an understated thing on that side, but its also unique in the sense that so much of the flavor comes on late, and it almost has a saison character to it, especially having it side by side with their more popular saison, which definitely has some similarities to this. its very pale in color, holds its head well, and is dry and effervescent in feel. light pine and dried herbs to the hop profile, lots of late onset alpha acid bite, and soft yeast notes of rock candy, dried apricot, chardonnay, and cotton candy, well set on top of the light pils type base. simple beer really, well proportioned, and i like its boldness in the finish even though its so light in feel. i would have loved to try this super fresh, but its still drinking really well right now. i have been impressed with these guys, i wish their stuff was around more, found this one on draft!
