old school a little bit with the amber malt and body to this, not overly sweet or heavy though, just balanced like they used to be. its citra hops they claim, but it seems assertive and bitter for citra alone, it must be bittered with something else right? has that pine and grapefruit northwesten intensity behind the citra to me in both aroma and flavor, i dont know citra to bring quite this level of bite either. some honey and toasted grain character to the malt, not as sweet as it looks, meyer lemon zest and mango notes too from the hops, they come together well, and there really isnt anything here from the yeast at all. the citra is obvious in the flavor, but there is more than that again, the pine and the dankness seems beyond citra alone. a candied fruitiness through the center once it warms up a little, an almost english thing to the grain, still all in nice balance, and relatively quick finishing for what it is. this seems like the best of both worlds, dry hopped yes, but also pretty intensely bitter. i like how fresh this is, how the malt has some nuance without being too much, and how its not crazy strong or anything, this remains plenty drinkable. nice beer, should appeal to all ipa fans...

Bitter root... more like malty root. I was hoping for a bitter hoppy beer but ended up with a malty brew.

Pretty well done. Gotta love the citra hops. If you like a balanced ipa this is for you. Picked up a 6er for 6.98 on sale.

Aggressively poured from can into 16 oz tulip
L: A little darker than most Northwest IPAs, it's a mostly opaque, deep amber with a thick tan head that leaves substantial lacing.
S: The hops are up front, with orange, grapefruit, pine (almost spuce-like) ... it's very potent and invigorating.
T: There's a really assertive, dry hop bitterness that borders on astringent, but fortunately doesn't quite get there. The hop notes are a delicious combination of orange peel, grapefruit, and pine needles, and there's a fruit-juice sweetness on the backend that successfully balances the beer and gives it a clean finish.
F: A very satisfying medium, dry body with a perfect carbonation level for an IPA.
O: Hop heads should savor this well-balanced, flavor-packed brew that's one of the better Montana IPAs being distributed in the state.

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden amber color with a one finger head of just off white rocky foam. The head fades rather quickly, leaving a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a pine hop smell mixed with some other hop aromas of a citrus and earthy nature. Along with these smells are some notes of a more cracker like aroma and light caramel smell mixed with a hint of an orange.
Taste – The taste begins with a drier bready flavor mixed with some flavors of a light tangerine and caramel taste. The sweeter flavors dwindle as the taste advances with the hop flavors of a citrus and pine taste, that were present upfront but very light overall, getting more and more potent in nature as the taste moves further on. Along with these changes, the bready transitions to a more cracker like nature and is joined by some flavors of an earthy and herbal hop. In the end, a little bit of sweeter fruit comes to the tongue and mixes with the cracker and hop flavors of the brew nicely to leave a somewhat drier, and slightly more dank, but very drinkable flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer on the average side in terms of its thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side as well. For the drier flavor mixed with the more dank hop tastes, the feel is fantastic, and makes for a nice crisp and flavorfully hopped brew.
Overall – A rather drier and nicely hopped danker brew overall. A rather tasty IPA and for the low price of just ~ $6.50per 6 pack, this is a steal.

Really good ipa! Slight apricott, cirsp citrus. Not too sweet. Saw this in the store for the first time and got excited. Love this beer!!
