Served on tap in a pint glass.
Appearance – The beer is served a super hazy burnt orange color with a one finger head of just off white foam. The head has a great level of retention, fading slowly over time to leave a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is strongest of a lighter pine and grapefruit smell as well as some aromas of yeast and some more cracker and bready smells. Overall the aroma is rather light, but balanced and easy going.
Taste – The taste begins with a moderate sum of toasted malt along with a little bit of caramel and a hint of orange. There is a decent sum of a grapefruit hop right from the start with it getting even stronger as the taste advances. The sweetness initially increases toward the middle, but as the taste moves to the end it fades. While the sweet fade, a pine hop joins the grapefruit, which leads, for a session pale ale of a mere 4.2 % abv, to a very flavorful and rather resinously hopped flavor to be left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and chewier side for a 4.2 % beer with a carbonation level that is on the average side. For the style, the feel and carbonation are rather nice as they nicely blend the lighter abv. nature all while still highlighting the hops to a great extent.
Overall – A rather nicely danker hopped pale ale with tons of flavor at a very low abv. Definitely a nicely done session ale.
