Bottled Dec. - 2nd Week - notched on label - poured into glass:

Pours bright golden with a foamy 2+ finger head that descends and stays leaving lacing.

The smell is of hay/newly-mowed grass and grainy.

The taste is grainy - slightly tart fruity. It's sweet with a hint of tart - with a mild bitterish touch in the finish.

It is light-bodied with medium carbonation for the style - slightly sluggish with an oily/slick feel.

It's a mild, "refreshing" pils. Pretty basic - well-balanced, has a dryish touch.

A: Pours a clear pale yellow color. Small head.

S: Smells like grains and a little grassy. Light malt, but not picking up much hops if any,

T: Crisp. Just like it smells; grains and a grassy taste. Somewhat sour. Not complex.

M: Highly carbonated as you would expect with this type of beer. Light body.

D: This is not my type of beer so I am probably overly critical. Pretty drinkable, but nothing I would try to have again.

A different representation of the Pilsner style, more American than German, due to its medium amount of alcohol and little bitterness.

Poured a dark straw color into a tall pilsner glass, with 1 inch head hanging around a while with very little lacing.

Smelled grainy and fresh and was crisp and smooth to drink, with more of a malt character than hop.

Drinkable and thirst quenching, leaving me ready for more. Far surpasses other American brewed pilsners in its fuller body.

The beer pours a slightly hazy golden yellow. The half inch of stark white head dissapears almost instantly. Not much lace left behind.

The aroma is typical pilsner. tortilla chips, malt, fresh cut grass and earth.

The flavor is pretty much in line with the nose. Hops, tortilla chips, some bitter fruit. I'm not a fan of the style but this seems to fall in line with the typical pilsner.

Light body with loads of carbonation.

Overall a decent representation of the style. Not something I would pick up again but pilsner lovers would.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle.

A: Hazy yellow color. Nothing to write home here about. Hardly a half cm of head that quickly went away.

S: I hate to say it but I had to put my nose practically in the glass to smell anything. When I did it almost smelled like a macro beer. Nothing complex there.

T: This beer is very one sided. Just malt, almost a bit sour, but not really. Not sure, just not very complex...

M: Sparkly I liked this as it actually makes me notice it, but still not anything to write home about.

D: I'd only have one of these, I wouldn't seek it out.

Botted date of "First week of June" no year.

Pours a little hazy straw yellow color with more than a finger of white head. Leaves a fair amount of lacing. Nose has minor malt sweetness and just a bit of citrus and grassy notes. Decent amount of carb and medium to light feel. Tasting just a bit of malt sweetness but the rest of this experience flirts with the "green bottle beer" taste. Very slight skunked taste in it. Finish is slightly bitter but nice and crisp.

Pours a cloudy yellow color with suspended yeast. One and one half inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of pine, herb, yeast, slight citrus, and sweet malt. Fits the style of a German Pilsner. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with a high carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, yeast, slight citrus, and slight grass. Overall, a pretty decent pilsner with a good body, aroma, and appearance. A little more bitter and herbal than I'm used to for a German Pilsner.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a pale yellow color with a 1 inch head. Smell is mild, slightly sour. Taste is mild, some malts and hops, not a whole lot of flavor. Feels good in the mouth and has average drinkability. Overall this is a mediocre brew.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a mug. Gold in color with a white head that retains decently well.

Smells of creamed corn and just a hint of malt. Cooked veggie dials in but I don't want to pick up.

Taste follows the nose through a liquid corn bread experience, though it is not as sweet, due to the bitter, grassy hop.

The highlight of this beer is that it is very highly carbonated and it goes down easily.

Klisch is a brew broadly in the macro lager field moreso than an authentic german pilsner. Its decent enough, simple, but decent.

lakefront klisch "pilsner"
3 clear golden. big sopa bubbly head
2 smell is of ... english yeast? not again. the dark lager smelled a lot like this. where are the grassy hops and other pilsner characteristics? where's anything but that semirancid smell?
2 more of that mnton's flavor, but with a spicy bitter finsish to go along with the weird yeasty, lemon pledgy, nasty twang.
2 slick buttery texture, pretty discordant.
2 another lakefront drain poor!

on retasting in December 2015, got a fresh bottle locally and it is much better. not much in the way of head or fine bubbles, but nice noble flavor is there.

Appears a bright golden orange tinted hue with a brilliant white head, forming thick mushroom cloud like billowing head that dimples nicely with a sturdy pourt. Lacing is strung evenly in an artisinal nature. Aromatics are composed of pale biscuit malt sweetness, a touch of tart apple and sulfur with some mild cooked veggies. Also herbal lemon grass citric notes peak through as well. Flavor has a sweet cereal grain with lemon and grassy hops, more green apple tartness which is outta place in a pils for me. Mouthfeel is light bodied with a nice edge of softness provided with the finessed carbonation level. Drinkability overall is decent definitely light and refreshing, but I wasn't down with the extra apple flavor I was getting in the flavor.

Pours a typical clear straw-yellow, with a very thick if not too persistent head. Aroma is strong and malty with a fruity undertone, appealing and tempting. Flavor is typical of a pilsner, except it is more mouth-filling than I expected and has a slight hoppy bitter undertone and a firm hint of sour fruit. Texture is fizzy, lively and sassy, leaving a malty and sour aftertaste.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

One finger of white head. Slightly hazy honey colored body. Few flecks of yeast bobbing up and down on the rising CO2. Decent rings of lacing. Fruitier taste than I was expecting. Good hop flavors and bitterness.

Better quality beer than I thought it would be.

A- Massive head, but the golden color is quite hazy.

S- Most of what would of been a nice grainy/hop aroma is drowned out by green apple.

T- A sour fusel note dominates the delicatly sweet grainy malt flavor. The hops are even further drowned out than the malt. The sourness lingers into the finish almost reminiscent of a berliner weiss.

M- Light body, nice carbonation.

D- I might try it one more time to see if this was a bad bottle.

Could be a bad bottle. Regardless, if you're getting something from lakefront, opt for something else.

Appearance is a flat-colored hazy yello, halfway between canary and gold. Head is nice; big smooth and white. Carbonation hurries upward.

The smell is sharp German Kolsch malt. Slightly flowery hop; hint of bitter citrus.

The taste is sharp hops that are bitter but in a flowery, perfumey way. Flavor is juicy, with notes of orange, lime and tangerine. Has the acidic taste of o.j. Different and nice.

The feel is fizzy and thick like orange juice. Almost pulpy. Substantial for sure. It's a solid, heavier Kolsch pilsner. Bitter, acidic, juicy.

Bottle dated third week of April (this beer is fresh!) poured into dime tapper pilsner. Clear and golden what head it has is tight - disipates and laces a bit. Aroma - grains but not much there. Tastes of roasted corn malt and finishes with a bit of hops - a little more flavor than aveage pilsner, touch of a hint peppery or citrus. Mouthfeel is what I expect from a pilsner crisp and a tad on the lighter side, I expected a little more body from Lakefront. Very drinkable due to crispness and enough flavor to keep you interested.

A pleasant and refreshing Pilsener, but somewhat lacking in depth and complexity.

Pours a pale straw yellow, clear but with the faintest haze. Nice carbonation, with a good solid head and decent lacing. The aroma is pleasantly crisp. with that sweet, honeyish malt character of a good Pilsener and a faint hint of noble hops. The flavor is somewhat thinner than the aroma, but still malty and sweet with a crisp finish and a surprising bitter bite on the back of the tongue. The one thing that keeps it from breaking into the outstanding ranks occupied by American Pilsener standouts such as Victory, Troegs, Sly Fox and a few others is the hop flavor - the hop bitterness is nice, but the hop flavor is a bit thin and slight. A little more complexity, a little more ambition on the hop schedule, would elevate this from a good beer to a great one.

Out of a bottle this beer was a cloudy golden color with a good amount of rising carbonation. The one-finger, snow-white head retained fairly well but the lacing was thin. The aroma was of floral hops, sweet malt, wheat and hints of wildflowers and citrus. Very appealing! The flavors were crisp and very dry with distinct citrus hops. There was a twang from the wheat, understated pilsner malt and an unusual bitterness, especially on the finish, that threw it off. The mouthfeel was smooth, the body medium and the carbonation a bit prickly.

A down the center pour yields massive head. It settles slowly atop a clear golden colored pilsner. It is radically rocky, I'm thinking continental divide here.

Aroma is very mild, just a hint of malt and some faint citrus hops. It tastes very similar, some malt sweetness giving way to a little hop flavor and some bitterness. Not a lot going on, but not totally boring. Good chugger that it a big cut above any BMC beers.

Some nice body and feel here. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy, but just not exciting,

Got as part of an eight pack assorted set. IT had your traditional bubbly gold pilsner color and a light bubbly head. And had that slightly bitter smell of a pilsner.

Crisp and light, this is a solid pilsner. Not too bitter, goes well with everything. Doesn't necessarily stand out, but certainly a good drink.

Straw color and clear. The head is modest and leaves no lace.

Wonderful noble hop smell--very fresh.

Crisp and clean--very much reflects the flavor I expect from a true German Pilsener. The body is middle-of-the-road, but the carbonation was very high--close to the level of soda.

This is a very enjoyable, crisp lager but more of a classic, good American-style lager than a German Pilsner since it really is not very hoppy and is lighter in body.

Golden, it has a meadium white head that shrinks quickly to a small, lasting top and leaves some lace in rings.

The aroma is pleasant grain with hints of herbs and pine sap.

The taste is a light but very nice golden lager, smooth and clean yet tasty with apple, hints of grain, grass, and pine. The grain becomes more promiment in the finish. It is lightly sweet and bitter. It becomes slightly more bland and mineral-water like near the end but still retains decent flavour and body.

12 oz. bottle,

A: Pours a pale yellow, good clarity, head is light with solid retention, spotty lacing.

S: Nice jolt of noble hops, spice and mint, some berry and sweet malt.

T: Sweet notes of malt and corn, light meady character. Hops are relatively light, this seems more like a Helles than a Pils, but the flavour is solid. Sweet finish.

M: Feel is light-bodied, smooth and creamy. I would like a bit more carbonation to style, not bad overall.

D: A good beer, I'd say a Kolschy pilsner due to the name, it seems like a hybrid of the 2 styles. Certainly worth a shot. Not amazed, but a good beer from Lakefront.

Bottle from Cock and Bull, Srasota, FL.

Poured a straw color with a moderate frothy white head that lasted and had good lacing. Heavy hoppy grainy aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Medium fruit hoppy flavor with a medium bitter finish of moderate duration.

Average drinkable session beer.

Pours hazy straw yellow with a modest head.

Aroma is pale malt and light citrus hop.

Taste is initially honey sweet and lemony. Spicy hops then make an appearance. Finish is mild and clean.

Mouthfeel is light bodied.

A little sweeter than expected. Still, not a bad pilsner. Worth a try.
