Named after the cream-colored bricks used to build Milwaukee, this amber pale ale is one of the foundational Lakefront Brewery brands, first brewed over 25 years ago. Cream City pours a light amber with a frothy, stable white head. The light citrus, grapefruit noses comes from North American hop varieties, while caramel malts lend a backbone to their crisp, balanced bitterness. Finishes smooth with mild hop flavor. Try this one with oven-roasted foods: roast beef, meat loaf, or a chickpea vegan meatloaf.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours orange red with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops and slight grassy notes. Tastes of grassy hops with citrus notes and a nice bright grain. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

Solid middle of the road pale ale. I remember this one well because of the reminder of rolling rock to it. This one has many notes that give way to a balance and then again has a good solid back end that is reminiscent of a cream ale.

Solid 1" of creamy head on top of a mild orange color. Aroma was neutral.
Minor hops and bitterness, tastes like it wants to be Spotted Cow. Bready, biscuity malt flavors. Not a whole lot going on, like most cream ales.

I have lived in Milwaukee drinking hoppy beers for nearly a decade and somehow overlooked this gem. Lakefront should kill off their lame session IPA (Extended Play) and promote this one more heavily. Easy enough for casual beer fans, but hoppy enough for serious IPA drinkers. Always a good choice.
