Little to no hops. Almost lager like. Finish is dry but unflavored. Wouldn't do it again. Retasted 1/9/17: much more positive impression. Would probably rate a 3.25 this time. Will wait for a 3rd tasting in MKE b4 changing my rating. Also, avoid Lakefront Fixed Gear Pale Ale. Had it immediately b4 Lakefront IPA & think the Fixed Gear being so bad may be responsible for my improved impression of their IPA.

Darker than average color for an ipa. Drops substantial 6/7" off white head. Moslty white though. Aroma wasn't hittin' those hop notes like it could. Just grapefruit. Some metallic edge. Not overpowering, just there. I dunno, this just had the bitterness up but tasted otherwise like some other stuff.

Wasn't impressed. Then again, never have with their "hoppy" offerings. Not their jive. The malt bill is weird, heavier, even some brown malt? too much caramel. Would be a better beer if something more than grapefruit and crystal. Ugh.

Semi-clear but quite hazy with suspended flakes, amber to copper in color, foamy, nearly creamy light tan head of good retention, great lacing. Raisin, rind, pine to the nose. Pine-forward palate, some vegetal dankness, leaf matter, and hints of iced tea as well as wintery spices, all backed by caramel and small amount of harsh grain. Medium-bodied, close to full. Sloshy to effervescent, high CO2 content. Finishes with leathery, rubbery astringency. Everything in this beer works.

Really nice orange color, white head that lasts and really nice lacing. Huge citrus and floral aroma, really typical of the American style IPA. Well balanced flavor, citrus hops, not overly bitter and balanced by a sweet malt base. Well carbonated, smooth finish. Everyone searches for the white whale IPAs like Zombie Dust, but this home town beer (I'm from Milwaukee) is damned good.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, "best by" date 2-5-16.

APPEARANCE: pours a beautiful copper color with more than one-finger off-white head that slowly dissipated until a thin, unbroken layer of small bubbles remained, there are larger bits floating about, medium carbonation.

SMELL: caramel, bread and flowers, there is also a nice grapefruit citrus note.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet caramel and bread then a piney, grapefruit citrus hop blast.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a very good West Coast IPA, lots of citrus hops, very pleasant to the nose, I would buy this again and recommend to anyone who enjoys the style.
