Purchased from local Woodmans. Bottle dated 11/13/13. Consumed 12/5/13.

Long neck bottle - American Red Ale

A - pours a rich mahogany color. Leaves a nice frofty yellowish tinted head. Looks like a full bodied beer. As I drank it left an beautiful even lacing on the side of the glass and retained a great head.

s - smells good - fresh

t - great american style red ale. can taste the hops through the nice caramel malt body. its a full taste that is balanced nicely. maybe a little vanilla as an aftertaste.

m - great mouthfeel. probably my favorite part about this beer. tastes and feels like a full beer, and at 6.8 % a few do the job.

o - as this is a local brewery for me I continue to go back to this one. it is a go-to beer because of great availability, price, and taste. enjoy this one

Hoppy beers with a malty backbone almost always sit well with me. This one didn't disappoint. Great head retention and substantial lacing on the glass. Very hazy and deep amber color. The smell is good and I pick up some grapefruit, but for a beer that's supposedly heavily dry hopped there isn't much there. Maybe the keg isn't as fresh as it should be. However the taste makes up for it with a very bold dose of crystal malt (without going overboard) layered with grapefruit and some spicey notes. The mouthfeel is surprisingly silky. There is not a ton of carbonation in this one but I think it goes well with the flavors. Overall I'd definitely have this one again sometime and would recommend it to any hop heads who like some balance in their beer.
